Some of you may remember my asking for your kind prayers for my cousin, Joanna, mother of friend, dear friend, stalwart Catholic. I've received an update from my mother I'd like to share, and, if I am not imposing, I would like to ask your prayers again. First, though, the update: " am so sorry to tell you that the spots in Joanna's lungs are stage 4 cancer. She had very bad pain in her side over the weekend, and Heather took her to the hospital in Detroit where all her surgeries have been done. An emergency room intern, when told she was waiting for the results of her biopsy last week, said, "Well, it's right here, you have stage four lung cancer." There are many, many spots in her lungs. The oncologist who has been treating her will start a course of chemo on the 18th. Doris talked to her last night, and Joanna intends to be part of the 5% who survive this kind of diagnosis. Her family is very upset. Joanna told Doris that all Jim heard was 95% die within a year, and he broke. i may have misheard some details, but the gist of this message is right."
This doesn't look too good, of course. I ask for your prayers that my cousin my be saved, but that regardless of anything else, His will be done. If it is His will that the time has come, that this may bring her family closer to Our Lord, and hopefully, the same for us all.

Dear Heavenly Father, please watch over and comfort our sister, Joanna. Please ease her pain and give her the strength and courage to fight or accept her illness. Please ease the fear and sadness of her family and friends. Surround them in Your Love and strengthen their faith during these difficult days for them. In This I Pray. Amen.
