FYI Ping!
I thought that that response of yours to Mark was about “asking personal questions”, ok, never mind
Just another Harold Camping-type prediction....
Sorry, juggling too many threads..
Interesting information. I always thought a generation was 20 years.
Pick a number, any number...
I love Jehovah’s Witnesses. I hate the Watchtower organization for enslaving them. It is yet another example of good people being deceived by an evil ecclesiastical body.
A little flexibility is allways good I guess sask intended
Done and done.
Well, no. Harold Camping was winging it, based upon numerology apparently, and has done so numerous times in the past several decades, and has been proved wrong every time. He had no church to speak of. He was and is a false prophet.
This interpretation of The Olivet Discourse is foundational to the beliefs of Jehovah’s Witnesses and will lead to many leaving, assuming time proves it false. It’s an erroneous interpretation that is coming up on a century old, hence the unease in JW circles. It’s not yet demonstrably false to those who’ve accepted it but that time is looming large.
Above and beyond this particular instance, it’s a group that is in error Biblically in several ways above and beyond. I can only hope that the inevitable disillusionment is limited to JW and not to the Bible or Jesus Christ. If these individuals can see or be shown the error, then maybe this can be avoided. But, they’re a determined lot, verging upon strident, the JW are. Well, some of the door-to-door proselytizers have blown right past strident and into asinine, to be quite honest, and this is coming from someone who does not look upon visitation from various churches as a bad thing.
There’s always hope, though. Always hope. As NoGrayZone has pointed out on another thread, there are a few decent people who manage to be what I accept as Christian within this church, despite the erroneous teachings.
I wonder why they just built a new “Kingdom Hall” about 2 miles from my house when it’s just about to be taken out by Jehovah?
Okay .. I am confused. Isn't the Watchtower Organization their parent organization? Does it not follow that if one disagrees with the organization, one leaves it?
Interesting, I dated a Jehovah’s Witness once, but I didn’t know about this stuff.
The JW’s beliefs are 10 times nuttier than that of false prophet Camping
Think Stockholm Syndrome. If ones family is entrenched, and the children are raised in that environment, that is all they know.
Now these children grow up and start having their own thoughts and probably think its them that is the problem.
I've known some bad ones and a few good ones. My sister's sister-in-law (ex), who was a practicing JW her entire life is now Roman Catholic.
I'm not too sure if she is still being "shunned" and "corrected" by her children. I try to stay as far away from that entire family.
However, the good few I stated lead more of a Christian life than most "Christians" I know.
NO,no, no. Why should the JWs be any different from those RCs who refuse to leave the church despite their fundamental disagreements on abortion, gay sex, women priests, and a whole host of other issues>
Better to stay and take over, along with all the assets, and throw the fundies out.
That’s the way the Left works, and that’s the way all those in error they are unwilling to give up work. In this case, those in error are already in charge, and they’re getting their stories ready.
So I wonder exactly how does the Jehovah’s Witness “New World Translation” holy book interprets the teachings of Matthew 24.
I actually happen to have that Bible (studied w/ the JW's in my mid twenties, now 40). I read Matthew 24. If you want me to post the whole thing, I will; however, this Bible doesn't predict any such thing......
Matthew 24:36-44..... "Concerning that day and hour nobody knows, neither the angels of the heavens nor the Son, but only the Father. 37 For just as the days of Noah were, so the presence of the Son of man will be. 38 For as they were in those days before the flood, eating and drinking, men marrying and women being given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, 39 and they took no note until the flood came and swept them all away, so the presence of the Son of man will be. 40 The two men will be in the field; one will be taken along and the other be abandoned; 41 two women will be grinding at the hand mill: one will be taken along and the other be abandoned, 42 Keep on the watch, therefore, because YOU do not know on what day Your Lord is coming. 43 "But know one thing, that if the householder had known in what watch the thief was coming, he would have kept awake and not allowed his house to be broken into. 44 On this account, YOU too prove yourselves ready, because at an hour that YOU do not think to be it, the Son of man is coming.
I typed this exactly how it is in the New World Translation Bible you speak of. How ANYONE can post a date, I have no idea.
However, He being so merciful gives us warning signs....pangs that the time is near. If anyone bothered to open their Bibles anymore they would know that NO ONE CAN predict the time.
People need to start opening their Bibles and stop listening to MEN!
What is really sad is that Jehovah can’t be his name as the letter J only came into the alphabet 500 years ago. Plus hovah in Hebrew is mischief. Man, they don’t even have His name right.
