Church preacher convicted of sex assault

10:57 p.m. CDT, April 28, 2011

Rev. Morris Eubanks told a judge in Lake County Thursday night that God will punish those who bore "false witness" against him during his trial for sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl.

The Waukegan man, who has preached at Baptist churches in North Chicago and Zion, according to testimony, declined to take the stand in his own defense, saying he was relying on his faith to clear his name.

But there would be no divine intervention for Eubanks, as a jury found him guilty of aggravated criminal sexual abuse and predatory criminal sexual assault after four hours of deliberation. chibrknews-church-preacher-convicted-of-sex-assault-20110428

So did he bankrupt his church before he went to prison?

So did the Baptist Church try to move him/cover up the abuse? No? What a novel approach.

Sounds like he was a traveling preacher, i.e. one with no congregation of his own. As I originally wrote in 2008, I found something interesting when I studied the "Protestant" abuse cases by denomination / affiliation / theological leanings. The more free will / Arminian / synergistic the theology is, and the more independent the association is (as opposed to denominational affiliation), the higher the abuse statistic goes. Some independent churches have statistics that are far, far higher than the Catholic average of 4%.

If he did the crime, he's scum. He should do the time, and he should be forever barred from the pulpit and from ministry. If he's really innocent, as he claims, then he can always appeal to the Final Authority for exoneration, but he'd better have a rock-solid explanation on top of the exoneration, if he ever wants to take the pulpit again.

Convicted!

Not shuffled of on an unsuspecting church. What a novel idea!

Hey, here’s one for you:

What do you call a Catholic Priest who molests children? Father.

What do you call a Protestant minister who molests children? Inmate.

The Southern Baptist Convention’s Unconvincing Claims as to Why It Cannot Effectively Report or Prevent Clergy Child Abuse – and How Insurance Companies Can Exert Pressure to Ensure Better Systems

By MARCI HAMILTON

Thursday, Jun. 12, 2008

The Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) has recently proven why it is that children are at risk for sexual abuse in our society: It’s easier not to protect them, and especially easy to issue ineffectual platitudes while looking the other way.

According to the Associated Press, the SBC has concluded that its decentralized structure of independent churches makes it impossible for it to establish a website of pastors credibly accused of child sexual abuse, or even to require the reporting of such crimes to the police. Yes, you read that right: The SBC is citing these lame procedural reasons for not taking the most basic steps to protect children from devastating abuse that can have repercussions that leave victims suffering for a lifetime (and that severely taxes society in medical and other resources).

In this column, I’ll rebut the Convention’s claims that policing and reporting abuse is an impossible task to put on its shoulders, and also describe how change in this quarter needs to come from what may seem like an unlikely source: the insurance industry.

Sorry but this Protestant Pastor disagrees with you. He also believes Child Molestations by Pastors are being covered up. What say you?

A Protestant expert and author Prof. Philip Jenkins wrot in his book Pedophiles and Priests,
"The most-quoted survey of sexual problems among Protestant clergy states that some ten percent are involved in sexual misconduct of some kind, and that 'about two or three percent' are pedophile

The most probable pedophiles in order are:

Fathers
Teachers
Coaches
Protestant ministers

Priests are way down on the list.

So if a father is a teacher of mid-high history, coaches the girl’s basketball team and is a youth minister at his church on weekends/Sundays — watch out! He would be much more prone to pedophilia that any priest.

Err... get your act together....

How does your particular denomination handle the pederasts and paedophiles? Any proof for your group handling it any differently than travelling the preacher around?

don’t forget that there are some cults of 10,000 or less that have ritual abuse of children. What does your group, Alex, Game, do about these? Has your group convicted the pederasts or swept it under the carpet?

Alex: What "particular denomination" are you speaking of

The "particular denomination" I ask about is yours -- it would be interesting to see how your particular denomination handles the pederasts and paedophiles in its midst?

Oh, and please do not hide behind the tag of labelling your group "Protestant" -- I do not club my (example only) LCMS brothers with Gene Robinson or even with the ELCA when we discuss such matters as well as when we discuss real doctrinal issues.

Protestants are Christians, and I dislike groups that misuse the label "Protestant" while espousing anti-Christian views and maintaining non-Christian doctrine. These groups, fronts for the left are characterized by their aims to get Christians to fight each other.

Christians FIGHTING each other (as opposed to discussing/debating even arguing) serves only the anti-Christians.
