By and large any controversy in this matter has swirled around two doctrinal issuesour view of the Godhead and our belief in the principle of continuing revelation leading to an open scriptural canon. In addressing this we do not need to be apologists for our faith, but we would like not to be misunderstood. So with a desire to increase understanding and unequivocally declare our Christianity, I speak today on the first of those two doctrinal issues just mentioned.

If you say so, but it sure seems as if it belongs on the Religion board.
Nice try at suppression though.
I wasn't trying to suppress anything. I questioned whether this particular thread belonged in "Breaking News" rather than "Religion." Nice attempt at misrepresentation though.
BTW, if this was "so" from a Mormon perspective, then guess what?
That means to Mormons -- all the Christian churches -- including what THEY deem as "Mormon Christian" -- are roughly interchangeable. It really doesn't matter then if a Mormon gets up Easter morning, and worships at a Christian church.
Or, since the Mormons don't have a "Good Friday" or "Maundy Thursday" service during Easter week, if a Mormon attends a Christian church, so what? Right, Mormons?
Actually, more and more Mormons are concluding that very thing.
I recently rec'd a Truth in Love Ministry letter -- TILM is a ministry to Mormons. In their March letter, Pastor Mark Cares wrote:
"'I have never seen a greater interest among Mormons in coming to my church than in the past eighteen months!' ... Those words were music to my ears! ...Pastor Mike Powell's words (above) were music to my ears. Mormons make up roughly half of the population in Pocatello, Idaho. Mike Powell has been a pastor there for thirty-five years. During that time, Mike has seen a dramatic change in the way Mormons represent themselves. Back in the 1970's, he would hear, 'We're not Christian, we're Mormon.' There was a clear distinction between Mormon beliefs and Christian faith. In recent years, however, the Mormon Church has begun purposefully utilizing Christian terminology. Now, the Mormon Church actively seeks to be considered Christian. While this deception is attractive to some Christians, Mormon teachings still lead people to eternal damnation! Here's what is so exciting. According to Pastor Mike Powell, the Lord is at work on the hearts of Mormons right now. They know something is wrong with the teachings of Mormonism. They are becoming bolder than ever to step out and visit Christian churches."
Lds, since the Mormon Church doesn't necessarily set apart a special emphasis on Easter, isn't this month a good time to finally focus on the cross??? Set apart Easter -- the cross and the resurrection -- in your heart. Visit a Christian church this Easter week.
Don't you realize the Mormon Church is starting to wain -- despite the "spin" you've heard???
Just yesterday, your most prominent paid apologist -- Daniel C. Peterson -- confessed that in an article that ran in the Mormon Church-owned Deseret News. Here's what Peterson wrote:
Don't we send out full-time missionaries? Isn't that enough? Aren't we "the fastest growing religion"? Actually, we're not. Church growth has been falling for many years, and our current rate of missionary success is the lowest it's been for decades. http://www.deseretnews.com/article/705370129/The-Internet-aids-missionary-effort.html?pg=2
So you see. You keep hearing otherwise. But that means the "otherwise" you've heard has just been "spin." Pure spin. IOW, not the truth. Don't you see how easy it's been for your leaders & your fellow members to lie to you?
Peterson 'fesses up: "Church growth has been FALLING for MANY years."
You want the truth, don't you? (Why take the spin from the likes of Mormons who get "zotted" -- representative of the Great Second 'Zot' to come -- the 'Zot of Judgment')

Awww, does the Mormon need his/her victim fix today? ... Poor thing, just cannot fathom so many being opposed to mormon ISM so you have to play LDS victim. You’re in a cult, a non-Christian cult fabricated by a demon who had a friend named Joseph Smith whom the demon could use.
My apologies for my aggressive response.
The post in News is approved per JR.
Here we had this vacuous void...a Mormonic spam machine...and yet, look, we have a bit of a template whereby a life-breathing resurrected Christian version takes place.
The spirit of PD is "done-ski!" Long live the true, everlasting Gospel!
Then you'd be 100% wrong.
If you generalize from liberal Presbyterians (like the PCUSA) to all Presbyterian churches or to the larger Calvinistic movement, then I can see why you have this misunderstanding. Otherwise, I'd have to ask you where you got your information.
To me thats a major heresy
It's not my intent to highjack this thread but since you place so much emphasis on church councils, you might want to review what happened at the Synod of Dordt. In what was the most ecumenical of all Protestant councils to date, the question of what became known as "The Five Points of Calvinism" was debated. The council ruled that the orthodox position was the Calvinistic position including the position on predestination (see "The First Main Point of Doctrine" in the Canons of Dort).
I'm sure this will smoke out LOTS of comments.
As they say, "One swallow doesn't make a Spring."
Instead of 'comments'; how about a bunch of QUOTES from Prominent MORMONs over the years?
Joseph Smith continues: "for the teachers of religion of the different sects understood the same passages of scripture so differently as to destroy all confidence in settling the question by an appeal to the Bible" (from 1:12). "What is it that inspires professors of Christianity generally with a hope of salvation? It is that smooth, sophisticated influence of the devil, by which he deceives the whole world" (, p.270).Questions put to Joseph Smith: "'Do you believe the Bible?' [Smith:]'If we do, we are the only people under heaven that does, for there are none of the religious sects of the day that do'. When asked 'Will everybody be damned, but Mormons'? [Smith replied] 'Yes, and a great portion of them, unless they repent, and work righteousness." (, p. 119).Brigham Young stated this repeatedly: "When the light came to me I saw that all the so-called Christian world was grovelling in darkness" ( 5:73); "The Christian world, so-called, are heathens as to the knowledge of the salvation of God" ( 8:171); "With a regard to true theology, a more ignorant people never lived than the present so-called Christian world" ( 8:199); "And who is there that acknowledges [God's] hand? ...You may wander east, west, north, and south, and you cannot find it in any church or government on the earth, except the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints" (, vol. 6, p.24); "Should you ask why we differ from other Christians, as they are called, it is simply because they are not Christians as the New Testament defines Christianity" ( 10:230).Orson Pratt proclaimed: "Both Catholics and Protestants are nothing less than the 'whore of Babylon' whom the Lord denounces by the mouth of John the Revelator as having corrupted all the earth by their fornications and wickedness. Any person who shall be so corrupt as to receive a holy ordinance of the Gospel from the ministers of any of these apostate churches will be sent down to hell with them, unless they repent" (, p. 255).Pratt also said: "This great apostasy commenced about the close of the first century of the Christian era, and it has been waxing worse and worse from then until now" (, vol.18, p.44) and: "But as there has been no Christian Church on the earth for a great many centuries past, until the present century, the people have lost sight of the pattern that God has given according to which the Christian Church should be established, and they have denominated a great variety of people Christian Churches, because they profess to be ...But there has been a long apostasy, during which the nations have been cursed with apostate churches in great abundance" (, 18:172).President John Taylor stated: "Christianity...is a perfect pack of nonsense...the devil could not invent a better engine to spread his work than the Christianity of the nineteenth century." (, vol. 6, p.167); "Where shall we look for the true order or authority of God? It cannot be found in any nation of Christendom." (, 10:127).James Talmage said: "A self-suggesting interpretation of history indicates that there has been a great departure from the way of salvation as laid down by the Savior, a universal apostasy from the Church of Christ". (, p.182).President Joseph Fielding Smith said: "Doctrines were corrupted, authority lost, and a false order of religion took the place of the gospel of Jesus Christ, just as it had been the case in former dispensations, and the people were left in spiritual darkness." (, p.266). "For hundreds of years the world was wrapped in a veil of spiritual darkness, until there was not one fundamental truth belonging to the place of salvation ...Joseph Smith declared that in the year 1820 the Lord revealed to him that all the 'Christian' churches were in error, teaching for commandments the doctrines of men" (, vol. 3, p.282).More recent statements by apostle Bruce McConkie are also very clear: "Apostasy was universal...And this darkness still prevails except among those who have come to a knowledge of the restored gospel" (, vol 3, p.265); "Thus the signs of the times include the prevailing apostate darkness in the sects of Christendom and in the religious world in general" (The Millennial Messiah, p.403); "a perverted Christianity holds sway among the so-called Christians of apostate Christendom" (, p.132); "virtually all the millions of apostate Christendom have abased themselves before the mythical throne of a mythical Christ whom they vainly suppose to be a spirit essence who is incorporeal uncreated, immaterial and three-in-one with the Father and Holy Spirit" (, p.269); "Gnosticism is one of the great pagan philosophies which antedated Christ and the Christian Era and which was later commingled with pure Christianity to form the apostate religion that has prevailed in the world since the early days of that era." (, p.316).President George Q. Cannon said: "After the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was organized, there were only two churches upon the earth. They were known respectively as the Church of the Lamb of God and Babylon. The various organizations which are called churches throughout Christendom, though differing in their creeds and organizations, have one common origin. They all belong to Babylon" (Gospel Truth, p.324).President Wilford Woodruff stated: "the Gospel of modern Christendom shuts up the Lord, and stops all communication with Him. I want nothing to do with such a Gospel, I would rather prefer the Gospel of the dark ages, so called" (, vol. 2, p.196).
Would mere posting of MORMON quotes be considered an ATTACK?
How about posting MORMON teachings?
MORMON scripture?
MORMON artwork?
But Islam does have the GALL to proclaim that they ARE Christian; and the ONLY true ones at THAT!
This is SO laughable; because...
...The BIGGEST LDS group, headquartered in SLC, actually EXCOMMUNICATES it's MEMBERS that DARE to follow MORMON scripture found in D&C 132.
It has also sent out Press Releases warning all to NOT call The FUNDAMENTALIST Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-day Saints MORMON.
The SLC hypocrits will NOT follow their own 'scripture' and rail against those who do!
I daresay thou art a prophet!

Winters over: time to stop EATING MEAT!
Lehi sees a vision of the tree of lifeHe partakes of its fruit and desires his family to do likewiseHe sees a rod of iron, a strait and narrow path, and the mists of darkness that enshroud menSariah, Nephi, and Sam partake of the fruit, but Laman and Lemuel refuse. About 600592 B.C.
1 And it came to pass that we had gathered together all manner of aseeds of every kind, both of grain of every kind, and also of the seeds of fruit of every kind.
2 And it came to pass that while my father tarried in the wilderness he spake unto us, saying: Behold, I have adreamed a dream; or, in other words, I have bseen a cvision.
3 And behold, because of the thing which I have seen, I have reason to rejoice in the Lord because of aNephi and also of Sam; for I have reason to suppose that they, and also many of their seed, will be saved.
4 But behold, aLaman and Lemuel, I fear exceedingly because of you; for behold, methought I saw in my dream, a dark and dreary wilderness.
5 And it came to pass that I saw a aman, and he was dressed in a white brobe; and he came and stood before me.
6 And it came to pass that he spake unto me, and bade me follow him.
7 And it came to pass that as I followed him I beheld myself that I was in a dark and dreary waste.
8 And after I had traveled for the space of many hours in darkness, I began to pray unto the Lord that he would have amercy on me, according to the multitude of his tender mercies.
9 And it came to pass after I had prayed unto the Lord I beheld a large and spacious afield.
10 And it came to pass that I beheld a atree, whose bfruit was desirable to make one chappy.
11 And it came to pass that I did go forth and partake of the afruit thereof; and I beheld that it was most sweet, above all that I ever before tasted. Yea, and I beheld that the fruit thereof was white, to exceed all the bwhiteness that I had ever seen.
12 And as I partook of the fruit thereof it filled my soul with exceedingly great ajoy; wherefore, I began to be bdesirous that my family should partake of it also; for I knew that it was cdesirable above all other fruit.
13 And as I cast my eyes round about, that perhaps I might discover my family also, I beheld a ariver of water; and it ran along, and it was near the tree of which I was partaking the fruit.
14 And I looked to behold from whence it came; and I saw the head thereof a little way off; and at the head thereof I beheld your mother Sariah, and Sam, and aNephi; and they stood as if they knew not whither they should go.
15 And it came to pass that I beckoned unto them; and I also did say unto them with a loud voice that they should come unto me, and partake of the fruit, which was desirable above all other fruit.
16 And it came to pass that they did come unto me and partake of the fruit also.
17 And it came to pass that I was desirous that Laman and Lemuel should come and partake of the fruit also; wherefore, I cast mine eyes towards the head of the river, that perhaps I might see them.
18 And it came to pass that I saw them, but they would anot come unto me and partake of the fruit.
19 And I beheld a arod of iron, and it extended along the bank of the river, and led to the tree by which I stood.
20 And I also beheld a astrait and narrow path, which came along by the rod of iron, even to the tree by which I stood; and it also led by the head of the fountain, unto a large and spacious field, as if it had been a bworld.
21 And I saw numberless concourses of people, many of whom were apressing forward, that they might obtain the bpath which led unto the tree by which I stood.
22 And it came to pass that they did come forth, and commence in the path which led to the tree.
23 And it came to pass that there arose a amist of darkness; yea, even an exceedingly great mist of darkness, insomuch that they who had commenced in the path did lose their way, that they wandered off and were blost.
24 And it came to pass that I beheld others pressing forward, and they came forth and caught hold of the end of the rod of iron; and they did press forward through the mist of darkness, aclinging to the rod of iron, even until they did come forth and partake of the bfruit of the tree.
25 And after they had partaken of the fruit of the tree they did cast their eyes about as if they were aashamed.
26 And I also cast my eyes round about, and beheld, on the aother side of the river of water, a great and bspacious building; and it stood as it were in the cair, high above the earth.
27 And it was filled with people, both old and young, both male and female; and their manner of dress was exceedingly fine; and they were in the aattitude of bmocking and pointing their fingers towards those who had come at and were partaking of the fruit.
28 And after they had atasted of the fruit they were bashamed, because of those that were cscoffing at them; and they dfell away into forbidden paths and were lost.
29 And now I, Nephi, do not speak aall the words of my father.
30 But, to be short in writing, behold, he saw other multitudes pressing forward; and they came and caught hold of the end of the arod of iron; and they did press their way forward, continually holding fast to the rod of iron, until they came forth and fell down and partook of the fruit of the tree.
31 And he also saw other amultitudes feeling their way towards that great and spacious building.
32 And it came to pass that many were drowned in the adepths of the bfountain; and many were lost from his view, wandering in strange roads.
33 And great was the multitude that did enter into that strange building. And after they did enter into that building they did point the finger of ascorn at me and those that were partaking of the fruit also; but we heeded them not.
34 These are the words of my father: For as many as aheeded them, had fallen away.
35 And aLaman and Lemuel partook not of the fruit, said my father.
36 And it came to pass after my father had spoken all the words of his dream or vision, which were many, he said unto us, because of these things which he saw in a vision, he exceedingly feared for Laman and Lemuel; yea, he feared lest they should be cast off from the presence of the Lord.
37 And he did aexhort them then with all the feeling of a tender parent, that they would hearken to his words, that perhaps the Lord would be merciful to them, and not cast them off; yea, my father did preach unto them.
38 And after he had preached unto them, and also prophesied unto them of many things, he bade them to keep the commandments of the Lord; and he did cease speaking unto them.

Hang around. You'll 'get' it a LOT more!
Possibly; but since MORMONs are not content to keep their chosen religion behind closed doors (except for their temples and it's non-scriptural practices), but decide to go OUT INTO THE WORLD pounding on doors to sell their product; then MORMONism itself shouldn't be tucked away, hidden, in the Religion Forum on FR.
I'm sure than MORMONs would agree that to get their beliefs and practices and teachings before a wider audience would be a GOOD thing; right Martha?
It mattereth not; as my minions are CONSTANTLY on the alert to any disturbance in the Farce; Luke.
