Victims' group accuses Catholic church of sending problem priests to military
The Baltimore Sun ^ | March 24, 2011 | Tricia Bishop

Advocates for victims of clergy abuse called Thursday for an investigation into its allegations that the Roman Catholic church purposely funneled problem priests into the chaplain corps of the U.S. military.

....members of the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests called for congressional hearings to determine "how frequently and why Catholic officials dumped predator priests on military bases."

And they distributed documents that they said showed that Archbishop Edwin F. O'Brien ignored sexual misconduct by chaplains when he headed the U.S. Archdiocese for the Military Services.

OK, I give up. You’re too prolific. LIterally hundreds of posts on a single thread! But what you said — and I am paraphrasing from memory — was you hoped that all these lawsuits would bankrupt the church, so all the church parishes would have to close, there wouldn’t be any priests, and all the congregants would have to join reformed churches.

Now, if by everyone having to be reformed because the state has prevented the Catholic church from conducting a mass is what you call “reforming the church,” that’s a unique definition of “reform,” but so be it. I don’t see how you can hardly blame me for characterizing it as a destruction of the Church, though. Although I’ll meet you half way and concede that if your Stalinist-atheist alliance ever did manage to completely put an end to the church’s parish buildings, schools, hospitals, prolife ministries, etc., it’d be all the liberals joining the deformed churches like the PCUSA, while the remnant faithful Catholics would be meeting in homes and hedges, like they did when the church of England murdered hundreds of thousands of Irish Catholics in the name of reformation.

What a shame their legacy has been tarnished by the very church they served.

Yep.

And once again we see Roman Catholics not being able to stick to the topic.

Rather than discuss the many wayward priests dumped in the military by Rome, they go off and post endless photos of anonymous men who have very little bearing on this thread.

Archbishop knew of allegation of child pornography in 2001 but reassigned him to middle school after evaluation. Only removed in 2002 just prior to charges being filed. Pleaded guilty to attempted possession of child pornography for using computers to view internet photos of children involved in sex acts. Sentenced to 2 years probation. Finally left priesthood in 2005. On sex offender registry. Source

Just wondering what brings of Ahearn. He’s certainly not military diocese, since he’s Franciscan. But I have relatives at one of the churches you’ve listed.

I see where he was convicted of serving alcohol to a minor, not of sexual assault. Not that it matters: he’s still a perv.

Priest Gets Acquitted of Molestation Charge

Hartford Courant
March 8, 1994

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — A Roman Catholic priest was acquited Monday of molesting a 16-year-old but convicted on a lesser charge. Thomas K. Ahearn, 56, of Bethel, Conn. was cleared of indecent assault and furnishing alcohol to a minor. He was convicted of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Ahearn was pastor of St. Pius X Church in Middletown from 1981-1984. Ahearn had been accused of picking the boy up in January 1993 while on a ski trip. He allegedly plied the boy with alcohol, fondled him, then took him to a motel in Lenox, where he fondled him. Ahearn admitted serving the boy Scotch whiskey, saying: "It's very poor judgment. It's not my practice." Ahearn's lawyers said the boy, who was a runaway from a school for emotionally troubled youths, approached the priest and asked for help. Ahearn testified that he took the boy back to his room to counsel him. A jury in Central Berkshire District Court took an hour to reach its verdict after a week-long trial before Judge James B. McElroy. Sentencing was set for 9:30 a.m. today. Ahearn was assigned to St. Mary's parish in Bethel when he was arrested Jan. 21, 1993. The Roman Catholic Diocese immediately relieved him of his duties.

Not sure if you're finding any fault in the diocese; they seem to handled the case as promptly as they could, although they were trailing the police. OTOH, The Franciscans have a fair amount of institutionalized loafer lightness, and should have detected something was off... but many of them were a bit off. Although I checked with my relatives and they claim that there once were several priests at this parish who seemed gay, but haven't been for some while.

That is not true. You admit you can't find any comment of mine that says that, but you repeat the remark as if it were true.

Your debate skills stink.

When and if you ever get around to finding any statement of mine which is as you wrote, be sure to let us know.

Until then, you're just making it up.

O, because I can’t find it among literally tens of thousands of posts by you means you didn’t say it. Right. You know what you said. I gave you the chance to recognize what I was talking about, and you simply deny it. That tells me what kind of person you are.

Well, by your “logic,” I remember you posting that you enjoy dressing up as a penguin and handing out condoms at the corner Ralphs.

I know you said that. I remember it. I just can’t quite place when or where, but I’m sure your comment is here somewhere among all the thousands of posts you’ve made.

When and if you ever find me making the statement you attributed to me, be sure to let us all know.

Until then, you’ve just made it up.

LIke I said, you know the truth, and I know the truth. And God knows the truth. St. Stephen didn’t proclaim the truth to St. Paul and the pharisees trying to win an argument in front of Lurkers. He did it to force St. Paul to continue in his evil, or recognize the truth.

The more you argue with me, the more you bring judgment on yourself. The more you bring judgment on yourself, the greater the hope you’ll seek to avoid judgment. And then I win. But more importantly, you win.

It must get so tiring posting 300 posts to a single story. You can come rest in the Lord of Truth any time you want.

LIke I said, you know the truth, and I know the truth.

You makea false accusation against me. You can locate no evidence for that accusation. But you still accuse me.

Yea, we both know the truth. The truth is you make things up and expect people to believe your fiction.

The more you argue with me, the more you bring judgment on yourself.

ROTFLOL! Really? You're God now?

It must get so tiring posting 300 posts to a single story.

It is. But what's worse - a little weariness or the ignorance so many RCs display on these threads?

Now THAT'S a problem.

For your children.

Do not make this thread "about" individual Freepers. That is also a form of "making it personal."

Discuss the issues all you want, but do not make it personal.

The ignorance is the facts about the OPC -- tell us, why did 75%+ of the OPC vote for Obama? Why does the OPC say things like "Christians should not celebrate the Seder or other Jewish festivals. " -- and other anti-Semitic points?

Why does your group, the OPC also say that Methodists and Pentecostals preach the gospel of Satan? Why?

Most people in the military would certainly agree with O’Brien, for to challenge him, could cause a objecter to lose his job.

Fr. Doyle at his own Peril supproted hundreds of abused children during their court battles with the “Church”.
Obrien should be ashamed of Himself since he joined the Chorous of the Damned in the Hierarchy.
The Hierarchy didn’t even follow the teachings in the new catechism. The hierarchy failed as Leaders of the Church up to and including JPII and BENE XVI.
The Hierarchy were enablers and collaboraters with the criminal Priests.
