That was a very self revelatory post.
Thank you for offering it to us.
Good-bye.

That was a very self revelatory post.
It was truth - you can't deny what I said hasn't already happened or said. But, then, again it doesn't matter what the Truth is, some deny it anyway.

Why can't the rest of society cleanse itself of filth the way those Catholics have?"
Society locks the filth up in prison, they don't make them Cardinals.
Another thing I'd like is for folks to be honest and admit that the Church is cleaning out the filth, even if it is going slower than some of us wish.
Slow if at all...

Partial quotes are profoundly dishonest and dishonourable.
The first line of your post is a partial quote without even the fig leaf of an elipsis.
Shame on you.

Society locks the filth up in prison, they don't make them Cardinals. No, society does not just lock the filth up in prison. Society elects the filth to political office. Society gives the filth teaching positions in public schools. Society appoints the filth to ministry positions in protestant congregations. Society demands the the Boy Scouts, against their wishes, allow the filth to besmirch their organization. Society demands that the military accept the filth. Society allows the filth to pretend that they are married. Society lauds the filth in entertainment and news media. Society bends over to give the filth high-tech platforms from which to belch its evil into the hearts and minds of the innocent.
Don't you dare to preach some smarmy codswallop about the supposed holiness or moral rectitude of "society". Your vaunted "society" is the source of the filth. The Church indeed failed in its God-given duty to evangelize and sanctify the society, and deserves reprimand for that. The Church indeed allowed the filth of society to infect it, and contributed to that filth. The Church deserves reprimand for that, too. The "reprimand" has been strongest, and rightly so, from actual Catholics. Moreover, the reprimand from actual Catholics has the benefit of being rooted in the truth, unlike some of the rubbish from "society".
But this? Holding up our filthy "society" as some kind of paragon of virtue???? Nonsense; nasty, false, dishonourable, utterly and irredemably reprehensible nonsense at its worst.
Shame on you again.

I just found out how in utter denial folks are around here about there being a problem at all in Calvinist churches. “No, that can’t happen HERE. We ELECT our church leaders.” Even though the churches steadfastly refuse to create a database of perps, because that might increase the denomination’s legal responsibility. Even though the churches (typically) do look at credentials, which means that the issuing seminaries COULD revoke the credentials. Even though the congregations typically dismiss the perpetrators WITHOUT filing any reports (because then they’d have to make their case, which would require an investigation, which would turn up other stuff.
The Baptist and Presbyterian churches have largely avoided the lawsuits not by having fewer perps, but by making sure that they can’t be held accountable for the actions of the perps. It’s only through surveys conducted by their INSURANCE COMPANIES that we find out the problem is comparably widespread.

Typical FRoman Catholic diversion, "everyone rapes children." Abuse is wrong regardless of where it happens, covering it up is even worse. This isn't about Catholic vs. other religions. It's about the cover-up and general apathetic response to abuse by the Catholic church.

Yeah. It’s wrong wherever it happens. And instead of cleaning up your own denomination, you’re attacking people who are cleaning up THEIRS.

So says the FReeper, "Well, I for one, am one whos led the charge on pointing out that the perpetrators are not truly pedophiles" - dangus
I see no cleanup, just cover-up.

I see no cleanup, just cover-up. Operative words underlined and bolded. That you (don't|won't|can't) see it does not mean it isn't there. The problem seems to be on your end, not ours.

Perhaps you too can see...
VATICAN CITY - JUNE 7: Former archbishop of Boston Cardinal Bernard Law greets Pope Benedict XVI during the weekly audience at Saint Peter's Square, June 7, 2006 in Vatican City. US Cardinal Law was forced to resign over scandals in his diocese. Law's Boston archdiocese has been forced to pay out more than 90 million dollars in compensation to victims and have had to consolidate parishes and close schools to cope with the financial fallout of the scandals.

This is not a matter of *ooops, I slipped, Im human*. This is a matter of premeditated, planned out, intentional, disgusting evil done against their victims, who are being continually victimized by the Church in with its failure to do anything about it until forced to by the publicity and the disgusting accusations that the victims are in it for the money. You know, whenever they say in humility that the road to hell is paved with the skulls of bishops we should simply respond "I believe you".

Don’t forget about the District Attorney in Milwaukee County who didn’t prosecute the abusers even when they were brought to his attention.
Former DA Michael McCann failed miserably to protect the victims in these cases.

It'd be nice if the Catholics would be honest and admit that the alleged cleaning up filth isn't happening. And the few instances where it may be is not because of some sort of integrity on the church's part, but rather because it's been exposed outside the Catholic church and they're been FORCED to deal with it as damage control.

The Catholic church claims the moral and spiritual high ground as representatives of Christ on earth.
They’d BETTER be cleaning up the filth. I couldn’t see Jesus excusing that kind of behavior.
Society has these problems as well because the church has failed them.
Whatever stones you cast at society can be cast at your own church until and unless it takes determined and decisive action in regard to the moral problems of its priests.
Catholics are great about pointing fingers and saying *Yeah but...... What about _______?* and it’s totally irrelevant what the rest of the world does. The Church is supposed to SET the standard for moral behavior, not follow it.

OK, so how do you know what the *real* scope of the *problem* is in Calvinist churches is if there's no database.
Maybe there's no database because there's no one in the Calvinist churches to be on it.
Again, it's too funny that Catholics complain about other churches doing the very thing they excuse in their own church.
