1 Timothy 2:5 ...one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.
There is NO debate here: God's Word clearly points out who the mediator is between God and men: i.e., Christ Jesus
If you believe in God's Word, who is Christ Jesus: The Word of God, then 1 Timothy 2:5 will be easily be understood as Christ the mediator.

..If Mary became a prostitute following the birth of Christ to supplement the family income..Such a nasty question. Is this a teaching of the Presbyterian Church you sometimes claim as your own? Or just a dirty part of you that came spilling out?
That is not a terrifying, unsettling, angry or demeaning statement. That is a blessed fact.
All men are fallen and all men require the merciful grace of God through faith in Christ in order to be saved.
Roman Catholics would benefit by wearing mental blinders which would erase all dead saints and queens of the universe and "alter Christus" from their minds in order to concentrate on Jesus Christ alone.
We recreate Christ’’s sacrafice daily to remind ourselves of the selfless love he holds for all of us, Jesus is More than Good enough, but we are humans with human failings, the church provides us with a union with God in fellowship with others, the salvation he provided us is something we cherish and in works we offer up ourselves to others in order to glorify Him. Christ is God. Mary is his mother. Mary is fully human and as such is a mediator between us and God. We pray to God and Mary.Praying to The Blessed Virgin in NO way diminishes our reverence to our Lord.
Read your Bible.
" For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" -- 1 Timothy 2:5
We are not six years old. We do not require a mother to mediate when the ONLY mediator between God and men is Jesus Christ.
We pray to God and Mary. Praying to The Blessed Virgin in NO way diminishes our reverence to our Lord.
There is NOTHING in the Scriptures that tells us to pray to anyone other than the Triune God ALONE. God alone hears our prayers and God alone answers our prayers.
Every prayer to Mary takes away a prayer rightly due the Lord.
No small error.
That is only true if and only if we accept your ridiculously flawed deductive logic. It requires that we suspend belief in the Trinity and no actual Christian is going to do that.
And Calvinism and his flawed followers are inconsequential to future of Catholicism and the salvation of its billion plus adherents.
This (Then why do they give her titles which belong to God alone and credit her with attributes of God alone?) is a preposterous claim. Can you substantiate it?

Prayer to Mary Help of Christians
Most Holy and Immaculate Virgin, Help of Christians, we place ourselves under your motherly protection. Throughout the Churchs history you have helped Christians in times of trial, temptation and danger. Time and time again, you have proven to be the Refuge of sinners, the Hope of the hopeless, the Consoler of the afflicted, and the Comforter of the dying. We promise to be faithful disciples of Jesus Christ, your Son, to proclaim His Good News of Gods love for all people, and to work for peace and justice in our world. With faith in your intercession, we pray for the Church, for our family and friends, for the poor and abandoned, and all the dying. Grant, O Mary, Help of Christians, the graces of which we stand in need. (Mention your intentions.) May we serve Jesus with fidelity and love until death. Help us and our loved ones to attain the boundless joy of being forever with our Father in heaven. Amen.

From the Catechism of the Catholic church....

969 This motherhood of Mary in the order of grace continues uninterruptedly from the consent which she loyally gave at the Annunciation and which she sustained without wavering beneath the cross, until the eternal fulfillment of all the elect. Taken up to heaven she did not lay aside this saving office but by her manifold intercession continues to bring us the gifts of eternal salvation .... Therefore the Blessed Virgin is invoked in the Church under the titles of Advocate, Helper, Benefactress, and Mediatrix.510

Names of God from the Bible. Compare them to the names given to Mary in the above prayer.
Jesus
Hope (our) - 1 Timothy 1:1
Counselor - Isaiah 9:6
Advocate - 1 John 2:1
Mediator - 1 Timothy 2:5, Hebrews 9:15, Hebrews 12:24
Holy Spirit
Comforter - John 14:26
All the better to classify the heretics, my dear....
cackle, cackle......
Blind faith..and the blind leading the blind.
Nice to see this thread back...good for the moderator...wise one indeed.
See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ. For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority. In him also you were circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the powerful working of God, who raised him from the dead.
And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross.
How so?....and interesting mentioning you pray to Mary but simply reverance Christ. I should think it wise the other way around.
LOL!! Ok, now I get it!
Now that is interesting...."according to the elemental spirits of the world". Something I had not noted before in this scripture. Warrents closer look...what's you take on these elemental spirits. Am off to find out....
Hebrews 10:11-18
11 And every priest stands daily at his service, offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. 12But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, 13waiting from that time until his enemies should be made a footstool for his feet. 14For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified.
15And the Holy Spirit also bears witness to us; for after saying,
16 “This is the covenant that I will make with them
after those days, declares the Lord:
I will put my laws on their hearts,
and write them on their minds,”
17then he adds,
“I will remember their sins and their lawless deeds no more.”
18Where there is forgiveness of these, there is no longer any offering for sin.
Right on, metmom.
There is no dispute - satan and his tactics - taking what is assigned to God and giving it to Mary, their idol. And the blind have fallen into his trap.
Hebrews 6:1-6 1Therefore let us leave the elementary doctrine of Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, 2and of instruction about washings, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. 3And this we will do if God permits.
4For it is impossible, in the case of those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, and have shared in the Holy Spirit, 5and have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the age to come, 6and then have fallen away, to restore them again to repentance, since they are crucifying once again the Son of God to their own harm and holding him up to contempt.
Absolutely indeed.
Hideous.
Probably connected to Ephesians 6:10-20
10Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. 12For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. 13Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. 14Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. 16In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; 17and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, 18praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, 19and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel, 20for which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak.
