Mary is his mother. Mary is fully human and as such is a mediator between us and God.

Read your Bible.

" For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" -- 1 Timothy 2:5

We are not six years old. We do not require a mother to mediate when the ONLY mediator between God and men is Jesus Christ.

We pray to God and Mary. Praying to The Blessed Virgin in NO way diminishes our reverence to our Lord.

There is NOTHING in the Scriptures that tells us to pray to anyone other than the Triune God ALONE. God alone hears our prayers and God alone answers our prayers.

Every prayer to Mary takes away a prayer rightly due the Lord.

No small error.

Please, let's not play semantics.., I didn't mean mediator in that context. Mary was and is an example of Grace, that God chose her to bear the Christ makes her worthy of reverence and a model we aspire to exemplify, asking her for guidance and comfort is wrong? Catholics do not view the Virgin as God, we belive in the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, but we would be ignorant not to look to Mary as worthy of imitation.
