Southern Baptist Seminary President Albert Mohler says yoga is not a Christian practice.
In an online essay, Dr. Mohler wrote that he's surprised at the number of Christians who embrace it and is asking Christians to avoid it.
He says the stretching and meditative discipline derived from Eastern religions is not a Christian pathway to God.
Mohler said he objects to "the idea that the body is a vehicle for reaching consciousness with the divine."
"That's just not Christianity," Mohler told The Associated Press.
CBN News spoke with psychologist and author Dr. Linda Mintle about yoga and whether its emphasis on spirituality goes against Christian beliefs. Click play for her comments, following an updated report with CBN News' Mark Martin.

At Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago they have something called “Catholic Yoga”!!!!
?!?
Dr. Mohler may also make every effort to spend no more than 10 seconds on the “pot” lest he derive pleasure from his nether regions but that won’t save his MIND from the fires of Hell.
I KNOW!! WTH?????
What kind of moonbat is Albert Mohler?
There’s no religious philosophy being taught, just stretching exercises, muscle control and meditation.
The media gives crackpots like this guy a higher profile in order to paint mainstream Christianity with the same brush.
I don't take the classes because I'm not that limber, but I'm pretty sure its just stretching and strengthening.

Good! Now I can tell my wife I can’t go to Hot Yoga anymore or else I’ll go to hell....
“Theres no religious philosophy being taught, just stretching exercises, muscle control and meditation.”
Not very familiar with the history of yoga are you.
It depends on who is leading the class. Some places have only physical exercise. Others are using elements of what is NOT Christian via relaxation/meditation techniques. Christians should indeed be wary.
Personally, as a Catholic, I completely avoid yoga. I can find all the exercise and stretching I need elsewhere.
Yoga has roots back to Stone Age Shamanism. Was used extensively by Buddha and has been incorporated into Buddhism as part of their prayer and meditation.
Yoga is more than stretching, a vegan diet, and hippies. Its focus is on meditation and spirituality without Christ.
Being ‘spiritual’ with a focus on something other than Christ is not a positive Christian behavior.
Ignorance is a terrible thing. It leads to rush to judgement and very inappropriate comparisons.
yes and Kung Fu will give you a plague of frogs....
who wastes time with such crap???

..... My opinion as well. No doubt they ferret such foolish people out purposely.

Have to agree with this statement.
I am a devout practicing Christian and yoga helps me get closer to God. I am in constant prayer to Jesus when practicing. It is a very spiritual, Christian experience.
It would be easier if all Christians just accepted the things of the world.
I’ve taken many Yoga classes and there was no meditation. It was strictly stretching and strengthening, the same as any other exercise training I’ve taken.
Yoga is not Christian. You may be using Yoga like exercises but you are not doing yoga.
Try 10 yoga programs and tell me how many mention Christ during their push for spirituality.
Hey, wait a minute! Kung Fu does that?! Why didn’t someone tell me? I’ve just about appeased all the atheist lefties by not offending them with my religious beliefs - but now I’m sick and tired of eating frog legs.
