At sundown, we begin Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. In the Scriptures, the Israelites were commanded by the Lord to fast and pray and bring their sacrifices to the Temple in Jerusalem, and then to ask for the Lords forgiveness for all the sins they and their nation had committed that year. Only the sacrifice of a perfect animal, done with a humble, repentant heart, and with faith in Gods mercy and grace, would bring about forgiveness of sins.
For the life of a creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you to make atonement for yourselves on the altar; it is the blood that makes atonement for ones life. (Leviticus 17:11) In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness. (Hebrews 9:22) The problem is: What does one do to receive atonement in the modern age, without a Temple? How can one make sacrifices and receive forgiveness of sins and thus the right to enter the holiness of heaven and live with the Lord in heaven forever and ever without being able to sacrifice a perfect lamb at the Temple in Jerusalem, where the Lord designated all sacrifices to occur? The destruction of the Temple by the Romans in 70 A.D. was a huge blow to Judaism, because it deprived Jews of the place to receive atonement from God.

And like you...And like me...Apparently the difference between you (Catholic) and me (non Catholic) is that I acknowledge that I sin and I always will sin until the Lord takes me home...Apparently y'all quit sinning at some point in time...Or, you just quit calling sin what it is...
often I see nondenominational Christians forgiving themselves...like those looney tv evangelist...openly crying on tv about asking God for forgiveness....
Apparently too, this is a foreign concept to you...That God forgives sin...You just posted that these people ask God to forgive their sins but you then say these people are forgiving themselves...
So the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross was not enough for you? ... His death was not enough to make you pure? You actually believe YOU can do something to make yourself pure?
The Bible teaches something totally different Ann ... you can receive total forgiveness, and you can have total assurance that you have eternal life ... no waiting until death to see if you made it.
LOL, silly me I thought the Key to the Kingdom was faith in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior and his sacrifice for me.
LOL!!!! It was the GATEWAY to heaven....one must still live by His Words and what He demanded that we do.
Hi Ann! You remind me of myself before I fell on my knees in tears over a friend not believing the same things I did. I thought he was going to hell, and just cried out my heart to God to teach ME the truth. I then opened my Bible and did a study on my own. I have never stopped searching the love letter of the Word of God for His wisdom. I do listen and read other’s works, but I always, always check my Bible for accuracy (reading the whole chapter and sometimes book) and I use different translations since I can’t read ancient Hebrew or Greek. God talks to our hearts through His word. Ask Him to talk to you and study His word. Enjoy!
So you’re saying that “I am the door” didnt mean he was a door, but that His words were used symbolically to illustrate a point?
Hmm ... I think I get it ...
My religion started 2000 years ago.....these others stared 500 years ago or in the 1800's!! PLEASE!! A shadow of what the TRUE Religion is and what He taught us to do.
Been there, done that...And it was noticeably uneventful...Course that was before any one told me that that little cracker was actually Jesus Christ...Seems He would have revealed Himself to me...
I guess it's like when I take some cough syrup if someone comes up and says, hey, how do you like that chocolate eclair???
No, it's cough syrup...It looks, tastes, feels and sounds like cough syrup...It makes me sick to take it...
No...It's a chocolate eclair...That guy with the robe on told me so...And he wouldn't lie...
OMG!! Don’t write me again...you are an apostate.....OUT!! I WILL pray for your soul, but dont’ come into my realm again.
If what you believe or do is not in the Bible, then it is not 2000 years old. Study. Study. Don’t just read. Study. Come to dinner sometime when heaven and earth are one, okay?
That question was already answered by the Apostle Paul...You ever read it???
Doesn't this mean there has to be a Temple?
Lev. 16:32 And the priest, who is anointed and consecrated to minister as priest in his father's place, shall make atonement, and put on the linen clothes, the holy garments; (33)then he shall make atonement for the Holy Sanctuary, and he shall make atonement for the tabernacle of meeting and for the altar...
Romans 6:1,2
“until G-d brings an earthquake to Jerusalem and tumbles the Dome of the Rock so the Temple can be rebuilt, then .....”
Yes, exactly, until then.... what? The Lord may choose to be lenient and accept what can be given, but then again He may not. There is no surety in these rituals.
What they have failed to see is the sacrifice of Jesus Christ for us “finished it”. The Lord's Supper is our remembrance of that moment.”
Yes, I believe that is an accurate assessment ... incense is also used and of course there is Mary. They like to pray TO Mary. In fact anyone that is dead that Catholics like is prayed TO for help, wisdom etc..
I don't believe they understand that Mary was another sinner that needed Christ too! I see these as distractions to prevent them from having a personal relationship with Christ. Mary can't help them and can't hear them.
The Rosary is the Catholic way of praying to Jesus THROUGH Mary. It makes me wonder if they don't believe Christ has the maternal comfort they are looking for. He has all of that and created Mary as well. As Christians we should only be praying to the living God.
The Apostolic succession that Catholic claim is through Peter is just a control mechanism. I lost count of how many times, "it is written" is stated in the Bible. What we need to know is in there. The truth is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow.
All we can do is pray FOR Catholics and hope they see the light. I believe God is merciful ... sometimes they do pray TO Christ, so perhaps we will see some in heaven too!
You don't even know where your soul is going to end up...How are you going to effectively pray for me???
Vell, Until den, .... So, Nu? (In my best Yiddish G’ma voice)
I'm pretty sure there is nothing but condemnation for that kind of thing in Judaism. The Mary worship is like the pagan worship of the "queen of heaven".
