Can We Better Understand Glenn Beck's Divine Destiny
By Understanding What the Mormon Church Says About The Constitution, America, and the Last Days?

Understanding the end-time beliefs of the Mormon Church and their view of America and the Constitution may help you understand "Glenn Beck's Divine Destiny". The guest on my radio program today was Ed Decker, a former Mormon for twenty years before becoming Christian. On the program I played sound bites of a speech given by Mormon President Ezra Taft Benson entitled "Our Divine Constitution" and Ed responds. Please remember that Glenn has said that he is a Mormon and to our knowledge has never publically renounced his Mormon religion.
Glenn Beck said on his TV program on August 26, 2010, that the event on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial on Saturday, August 28, 2010, will not a political event. A few days before this Glenn said the event will not be a Christian event but a God event. What God are we talking about? Is Glenn acknowledging that it is indeed all about a spiritual agenda that has been well laid out by leading Mormon leaders including the now deceased President of the Mormon Church, Ezra Taft Benson? Glenn said that the money for this event was raised months ago. Did the Mormon Church assist in covering the costs for this event and if so for what purpose? Here are the sound bites we played on the radio program today from the speech given by Ezra Taft Benson.
Ezra Taft Benson: I reverence the Constitution of the United States as a sacred document. To me its words are akin to the revelations of God, for God has placed His stamp of approval upon it.
Brannon Howse: This is out right heresy! We are told in Deuteronomy 4:2 not to "add to the word which I commanded you, nor take from it." Saying the Constitution is "akin to the revelation of God" is adding to the Bible and is for sure lowering the supremacy of the Word of God and thus heresy. If the Constitution is akin to the Word of God, why has it been changed so many times?
Ezra Taft Benson: I have faith that the Constitution will be saved as prophesied by Joseph Smith….It will be saved by enlightened members of this Church-among others-men and women who understand and abide the principles of the Constitution.
Brannon Howse: It is the Mormon Church and "enlightened" Mormons that will save America? If America is to be saved it will not be by the false gospel and false Jesus of the Mormons following the principles of the Constitution that they have elevated to being equal to the words of God. 2 Chronicles 7:14 says that "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." Part of the wickedness America needs to turn from is following the Jesus of the cults or the Jesus of Oprah's New Age Movement. The very thing the Mormons are doing and many Christian Americans are following, will actually not reclaim America but bring God's judgment.
Ezra Taft Benson: Have we read The Federalist papers? Are we reading the Constitution and pondering it? Are we aware of its principles? Are we abiding by these principles and teaching them to others? Could we defend the Constitution? Can we recognize when a law is constitutionally unsound? Do we know what the prophets have said about the Constitution and the threats to it?
Brannon Howse: I am all for returning to the original intent of America's Founding Fathers but the cross is higher than the flag and the Word of God is above the Constitution. If we really want to defend a Constitutional Republic we must get back to the Word of God; not the Mormon Bible and Mormon teachings on end-time beliefs and building God's Kingdom on earth or the New Jerusalem in Independence, Missouri as they believe.
Ezra Taft Benson: We are fast approaching that moment prophesied by Joseph Smith when he said: "Even this nation will be on the very verge of crumbling to pieces and tumbling to the ground, and when the Constitution is upon the brink of ruin, this people will be the staff upon which the nation shall lean, and they shall bear the Constitution away from the very verge of destruction" (19 July 1840, as recorded by Martha Jane Knowlton Coray; ms. in Church Historian's Office, Salt Lake City).
Brannon Howse: The Mormon Church, in recent years, has found itself in another public relations problem so Ed Decker says they have backed away from this belief. However, all Mormons know of this prophecy by Joseph Smith and believe the Mormon Church and its "enlightened members of this Church" will restore America's honor. Sound familiar? Is this the goal of Glenn Beck's restoring America's Honor rally? Is Glenn Beck part of this Mormon movement that will restore America and usher in the "Kingdom of God" on earth? What does Glenn Beck mean by God? Does Glenn reject the Mormon god that was a man of flesh and bone that evolved to be the God of this universe by living a good Mormon life? Does Glenn believe he can become a god with many goddess wives that will populate their own planet? Does Glenn believe that Jesus is the brother of Satan that was voted by a council to come to earth? By his own admission he has said that 80% of his life revolves around the Mormon Temple. Glenn owes it to all of us that have watched him to answer these questions particularly since Glenn has challenged the president to be public about his beliefs.
Ezra Taft Benson: Only in this foreordained land, under its God-inspired Constitution and the resulting environment of freedom, was it possible to have established the restored church. It is our responsibility to see that this freedom is perpetuated so that the Church may more easily flourish in the future. The Lord said, "Therefore, I, the Lord, justify you, and your brethren of my church, in befriending that law which is the constitutional law of the land" (D&C 98:6).
Brannon Howse: So in the end, the big push for returning to the founding principles is for the goal of the flourishing of the Mormon Church? How many people are aware of this ultimate goal? How many Americans want to live in a Mormon theocracy? Before you say they are not for a theocracy you had better read the "Law of Consecration" that Mormons swear to in the LDS temple ritual. Among other things, the officiator requests they swear to "consecrate yourselves, your time, talents, and everything with which the Lord has blessed you, or with which he may bless you , to the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, for the building up of the Kingdom of God on the earth and for the establishment of Zion."
Ezra Taft Benson: Our Father in Heaven planned the coming forth of the Founding Fathers and their form of government as the necessary great prologue leading to the restoration of the gospel. Recall what our Savior Jesus Christ said nearly two thousand years ago when He visited this promised land: "For it is wisdom in the Father that they should be established in this land, and be set up as a free people by the power of the Father, that these things might come forth" (3 Ne. 21:4). America, the land of liberty, was to be the Lord's latter-day base of operations for His restored church.
Brannon Howse: So the god of the Mormons, who was once a man of flesh and bone, planned America so the gospel of the Mormon Church could be restored? When did Jesus visit the promise land, which they call America? You will only find that in the Mormon Bible. Notice Taft is quoting from the Mormon Bible where they say that Jesus declared that America would become the "Lord's latter-day base of operations for His restored church."
If Glenn Beck's event on 8/27 and 8/28 are not political events but spiritual events don't you think people should be aware of the spiritual and political agenda of the Mormon Church that Glenn has said 80% of his life revolves around?
If Glenn said come to these two events to learn more about the Constitution of the United States which is equal to the inspired Word of God; how many Christians would still attend? Sadly, I believe most American Christians have the knowledge and Biblical discernment of a gnat and even if Glenn publically equated the Constitution as "akin to the revelations of God…" as did Ezra Taft Benson that they would still be at his beck and call because they are so hungry for a conservative leader and so eager to reclaim the founder's original intent. I believe many self-professing Christians will betray God's ordained Word which will surely guarantee that we do not reclaim America but that our destiny will be divine judgment. It appears to me that "Glenn Beck's Devine Destiny" is nothing more than a "divine" deception.
This was something like 15 years ago within the first couple of years of PK. Mormons started to go public how similar their structured beliefs were in regards to families and wanted to join the leadership core. If I get time I possible could google it.
What I see is a W. Cleon Skousen influenced mormonism blended with populist patriotism - not a PK like movement.
Secondly, name me one liberal politician who has spoken highly, or even mentioned this Mormon Church at all? It’s not a question of whether or not they are trying to act PC, but whether someone is actually allying with them. Gay Rights and Hate Crimes Laws needed allies to succeed, specifically because the people involved were such a minority of the population. Will liberals provide assistance to the Church? Not a chance! Will gay rights activists do this? Again, not a chance of allying to their cause! I would completely agree with GLDGUN on this one. Get the facts straight that this group is on the decline in the U.S., and has lost every major attempt to take any power. They cannot gain power in the current climate, because they lack the allies that liberalism, including Gay Rights, Affirmative Action, and Illegal Immigration have possessed

It was a mystic Muslim who opened the doors to Hinduism as a means to take control of India, and in the end, there was a massive backlash from the Muslims as well as the Hindus. I have not heard the opposite being true for Mormonism, give me a text in which Muslims try to say good things about the Mormon Church. Mormons play the same game Christians did at trying to sound nice and gain converts from Islam, but honestly, they’re open for a rude awakening when they find the Muslim agenda coming around.

Trust me that if some Mormon stepped out of line, there would be at least a riot, and their conversion rate, as minute and deficit as it is, would be cut down to size in no time flat. They do what they do because we have succeeded in getting the point across, at least to the leadership, that they can’t just do anything they want. We have not done so with Islam, most of us have not possessed the brass to stand up and protest the politically correct attempts to blot out a great deal of offensive material against Islam. Some of us have at least asked and protested for opposing material to be released, but liberal politicians don’t listen, for the most part.
Glens on now and preaching that people need to have a relationship with God...as well to tithe their ten per-cent. I suspect he will continue doing so to keep the afterglow going from the Lincoln gathering.
The movement to promote “spirituality” experiences continues and I just hope Beck doesn’t get carried away with it. He is prone to emotionalism. I just do not want to see him mess up the good work of informing the people of Government and our History. I say again he is walking a fine line now...It is never a good thing to put a new Christian before an audiance before they have understanding of the faith. I don’t think Beck has that in his Mormon faith...but there are those who I understand of other faiths who have spoken with Beck and assureed he is a Christian. That is why I will say he will not remain a Mormon for the long haul....he’ll see over time...hopefully and prayerfully sooner rather than later.

Ok, I understand your point. The bland acceptance by some of mormonism as 'christian' is not unlike the pc statement that islam worships the same 'god' of Judiasm and Christianity. Both show a lack of spiritual discernment on a disconcerting common basis. So the same spirit that blots out the negative on islam is the same spirit that blots out the negative in mormonism, imho.
I believe he is walking a fine line, but the presence and support of mormons were in force at the event. One interview had a representative from Utah who I’m sure was 100% mormon. Interesting article on Glen...which indicates he is not yet settled in JDS doctrine...though he may mouth it as we often see, but does he really believe in their false doctrine? That seems questionable to me. But the more he promotes and mentions Mormonism the more I will be inclined he not only took the bait but is in the frying pan. When I watched the event I determined many were likely Mormons and supporting him for this event. I do think they will use him...rather like Scientology uses Tom Cruise. But I am hopeful when push comes to shove Beck will push back. Time will tell.
Part of this may involve a more recent, Byu academically driven movement called neo-mormonism, that begins to take a big step back from historical lds works based salvation to a greater reliance on unmerited grace. Millet is one of the more significant spokespersons for this theological undercurrent. Beck may be tapping into this. Unfotunately, neo-mormonism doesn't go far enough to begin to bridge the gap between mormonisn and Christianity, but it is a start.
May main point to you is whether or not the idea of Mormon takeover is a practical one. They don’t have the support of politicians that Muslims have. Put in mind that a lot of the material offensive material to Islam is covered up by our own schoolteachers and politicians, such as BHO, but with Mormonism, they write and frame their own arguments. I am not talking spirits here, I am talking practical real-world applicability. You can argue what spirit you may, but they argue on their own, if Obama somehow tried speaking up for them, then that would be a major turning point, it would suggest that they have real political backing. But such an event has not happened yet.
About the link with Islam, numerous attempts by people of faiths from Hinduism to Christianity have been made to sound nice or force conversion from Muslims, but they have epically failed, for the most part.
God could be using this as a way to sift the grain from the chaff. Everything in His will - in His timing!
When I mention do, I meant speak nice things about the inspired portion of Judaism and Christianity. Islam has done this, when not empowered, such as mentioning Jesus as a prophet. However, the real question is not whether one can speak nice to Islam... about every Church has done this, but whether or not the idea of their nice words converting Muslims, or changing the course Islam in world power, is practical. An actual mass conversion is not practical by Mormonism. They’re mostly trying to play nice to a group that occupies an ever-expanding niche in areas where Mormonism has become the minority, such as Salt Lake City. Trust me, Salt Lake City is anything but Mormonism’s Mecca, they are becoming an ever-shrinking minority in that city’s population.
Your message should be addressed to the mormon church, not to me.

Building Bridges of Understanding: The Church and the World of Islam
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints expresses “special love and concern for the eternal welfare of all men and women, regardless of religious belief, race, or nationality, knowing that we are truly brothers and sisters because we are sons and daughters of the same Eternal Father.”1
We believe that “the great religious leaders of the world such as Mohammed, Confucius, and the Reformers, as well as philosophers including Socrates, Plato, and others, received a portion of God’s light. Moral truths were given to them by God to enlighten whole nations and to bring a higher level of understanding to individuals.”2
It is not a coincidence that the world’s great religions come together at Temple Hill in modern-day Jerusalem. Known now as the Place of the Rock, it is a religious shrine for Islam, for Christianity, and for Judaism. All three great religions hold ties to this place. All three, likewise, have a common thread in a tradition that Elijah the prophet would return.3
Knit together by world history and by Old Testament history and doctrine, the Church and the Islamic world can see each other as People of the Book, indeed Family of the Book.
Church members and Muslims share similar high standards of decency, temperance, and morality. We have so much in common. As societal morality and behavior decline in an increasingly permissive world, the Church and many within Islam increasingly share natural affinities.
Muslim scholars point out that the Quran does not restrict Paradise to Muslims. The Quran rewards all those of faith who perform righteousness and believe in the after-life. The Book calls Jesus Christ Messiah, Son of Mary, and by the names Messenger, Prophet, Servant, Word, and Spirit of God.4
It is important that we in the West understand there is a battle for the heart, soul, and direction of Islam and that not all Islam espouses violent jihad, as some Western media portray.

Several years ago, I was invited to speak at a convention of insurance executives in Vail, Colorado. On the way, we crossed the Colorado River.
We could see a new bridge in process of construction. It was an engineering marvel. Anchored to the sheer stone walls on both sides was an abutment for the bridge. Launching out into space from that abutment, reaching out for the other side, were sections of steel girders. When they met and were locked together in the middle 1,000 feet above the Colorado River, each would give strength to the other, and that bridge would be locked together over which traffic of all kinds could flow back and forth safely and conveniently.
Alwi, a devout Muslim of Arabic ancestry, and I, a Christian and devout Mormon, have agreed to symbolically walk arm in arm into the future. Together we hope to build a bridge. Except what that symbolizes is accomplished, all of us face a very dark and very dangerous future.
Is this partnership or appeasement? Given the real stats shown, it would suggest that they are trying to appease. Co-attendance does not equal conversion. I have watched a Reform Jewish service. as nice as it was, I did not convert to Judaism as a result of that meeting. Same for a Muslim service. I would recommend getting off Ed Decker as a source briefly, there are better and more practical sources out there against the Church, without half as much of the conspiracy theory junk.
Donating land for a mosque is also not unique to the Mormon Church, liberal Jews have apparently approved of this as well. Looks to me like the Mormon Church has a similar set of people who think you can appease the other side, when doing this has not been proven to work.
Interesting....Beck has often mentioned grace apart from works so perhaps he has tapped into them...and or those who are of other faiths might be influencing him and he gets his source of faith mixed up.
There does seem to be mention ,even here on FR Mormon threads that some no longer believe the old doctrines....This does seem to be a divide within LDS as they press forward to be included with Christianity now. They have to get away from the hocus pocus to be aligned with Christianity...not to mention believing in the Biblical Christ rather than the one Joseph Smith has indoctrinated them with. Then the question of the book of Mormon would once again be tested as false. I don’t see how they can bring an entire organization to let go of the book of Mormon.

Morph you are missing my point entirely. The glossing over of mormon doctrine to make it pallateable to Christianity and the pc world's embrace of islam are separate components of a common, larger issue - that of spiritual deception and the associated lack of common sense. Mormons have jumped onto the tea party band wagon with their own 'prophecy' that mormons will rescue the constitution and establish a theocracy. Islam wants to establish its own theocracy. Is islam more virulent - yes. Does that mean that one cannot/should not be aware of the lesser evil? These are practical real world morph, but time on earth is finite, eternity is, well, eternal.
I see a lot of His timing on things. The illiteracy of Christians particularly. But God is in control of things.
