Joey Smith didnt think that far ahead...

But as a conman he didnt have to...

Once he claimed he knew when Jesus was going to return...

he conveniently place the date after he himself would be dead...

If you were 30, and living in 1835, would you expect to be alive at 90 ???

So when Joey Smith “prophecied” that Jesus was going to return in 56 years, and the world would be destroyed, he did not expect to be still around to receive the anger and disappointment of his listeners..

Joseph Smith said on February 14, 1835, “. . . go forth to prune the vineyard for the last time, for the coming of the lord, which was nigh even fifty-six years should wind up the scene” (History of the Church, Vol. 2, p. 182).

“On the 14th of Feb. 1835, Joseph Smith uaid [said] that God had revealed to him that the coming of Christ would be within 56 years, which added to 1835 shows that before 1891 and the 14th of Feb. the Savior of the world would make his appearance again upon the earth and the winding up scene take place” (Journal of Oliver Boardman Huntington, Vol. 2, pp. 128,129).

Of course we now know that Joey Smith was lying and Jesus did not return in 1891 but the gullible disciples of Joey Smith thought every word he said came from the mormon god, and they believed him..

Built into the mormon tenets by very shrewed men are commandments not to question anything...

dont even think “the dear mormon leaders will do your thinking for you...”

and this is the crowd that boasts they will “save the Constitution” some time in the future..

So when the mormons are told that if they spend all day being dead dunked for long dead people real or imagined (many on the brownie point lists are MADE UP NAMES) they get warm fuzzies, but dont question why they do it...but pay 10% of their gross income for the privilege of being wet and stupid looking..

They are told that a mormon missionary will go and “preach” the mormon “gospel” to that dead person in whereever, and they will say Yes or No, but there is no explanation just HOW that quite live and healthy mormon kid is going to get down into Hell or up into the Christian Heaven to accomplish that and then “return and report”

So the dead dunkee gets wet doing this “temple work” and no answers and the bankers in the penthouse in Temple Square dont get questioned..

Our practices are quite Biblical

If so, it's ONLY by your bible - NOT God's Word.

Ok so they just blindly do this ritual without any understanding of what they are doing, except they're doing this for the departed, do I have that right?

Is there a process to get selected for this surrogate work or does one just volunteer....and then pay the going rate to the temple each time or per ritual.

Because money is exchanged for the “privilege” of surrogating for departed people....this flies in the face and the finished work of Christ in their belief system as the “fee” makes the “free” gift of salvation null and void. It's no longer free...or even of Christ...this ritual shows they do not believe in the finished work of Christ as they now require money and a “work”...making Christ of no affect.

Jesus said not to make His house into a den of thieves..which is what the people money exchangers were doing in the temple area. This is no different...they are selling a intangible (there is no evidence nor proof this is accomplishing anything at all)...for profit. Further it borders on or is actuality is necromancy.

Our practices are quite Biblical but I will allow you your view of Biblical right and wrong.

Oh?

Then I guess you could SHOW just where in the BIBLE they are found?

THE BIBLE is God’s Word - but NOT the counterfeits.

Let’s not go back and forth - you trying to persuade me there are no counterfeits nor ask me what I consider a counterfeit.

As the Bible says - TEST EVERYTHING. That means you, too. You need to test for yourself.

No, all temple work is volunteer (even the workers) and at your own expense (travel, clothing etc).

Baptisms for the dead are usually done by teenagers and often done as ‘field trips’. 1 person will go in and be baptized repeatedly (10 -20 times in rather rapid succession) on behalf of the names that are read or appear on a screen.

Endowments are most common and done by individual adult members who have already gone through for themselves.

Sealings (marriages) are usually done by married couples but do not have to be.

It is basically an assemby line operation.
