It appears that the Catholic Diocese of Galveston/Houston decided to hijack July 3-4 homilies across the Houston area to push liberal theories of immigration down the throats of the congregants. It certainly was not what I was expecting on our Independence Day.
It appears Catholics were not alone in being lectured to on liberal talking points. According to the Houston Chronicle, a group calling itself The Metropolitan Organization made a "coordinated effort" to "organiz(e) churches to pressure government to change immigration laws." Obviously the group got to Cardinal DiNardo, the leader of the Archdiocese of Galveston/Houston. According to our parish priest, all priests in the diocese were instructed that their homily on July 4 must discuss immigration issues.
It was difficult to listen to our priest proclaim that we must accept and respect the illegal immigrant in our midst, because it is he who is willing to do jobs normal Americans would find unpalatable. It was hard for me to rectify that logic, what with unemployment in our country well above 9 percent.
The congregation was also told we must respect and treat with dignity all illegal aliens in our midst. It was odd to hear a Texas priest tell a Texas congregation that he has read the Arizona law and, in his opinion, the law is likely to lead to "abuse" of illegals.

Sick.
With this policy, the Roman Church will guarantee its irrelevancy.
Millions of new DemoncRAT voters will assure that the flagship policies of the DemoncRAT party, against which which the Church ostensibly stands, will be advanced.
Human dignity, yes, as much as is offered to any combatant in a war. The murdering armed invaders, the human traffickers, the kidnappers, and the drug dealers have no respect for human life. They must be treated like Nazi, Communist and Mohammedan insurgents.

Unless you are legless I was always told that you can express yourself by walking out. If you sat there for the entire rant then you gave tacit assent, don’t complain afterward.
One might wonder if the vast majority of Catholic Congressmen voted for the health care bill with the full support of the Bishops. They represent 25 percent of the Congress.
Are the Bishops Socialists? Are the Bishops taking us the way of Massachutses and Venezuela, two heavily Catholic areas?
We are getting similar messages from our priest. However, he did restrain himself on July 4th. His topic was that we’d won the lottery, as Americans. I fully expected him to go on to say that therefore we sould welcome all illegal immigrants to our midst, but he didn’t make that jump — THIS time.
European-style socialism has been the preferred government system of 99% of priests for the last 50 years.
The Bishops of Venezula have strongly opposed Chavas.
Why is the Catholic Diocese of Galveston/Houston trying to destroy this Nation?

This is an outrage. I would have gotten up and walked out in a very obvious way.
(I am curious, though, as to why he closed an otherwise well-written essay with such a stupid sentence. It said something like he would much rather have been preached to about mom, apple pie, and baseball. Trivialized his argument, IMO.)

Agreed.
From the article ...
“I cannot accept the priest’s suggestion that we must accept illegal immigration on the grounds that “they do the work that wouldn’t get done without their labor.” “
This is a twisting of words. Earlier in the article the author stated that the priest said “we must accept and respect the illegal immigrant in our midst.” Hardly the same as accepting illegal immigration.
In short, shouldn’t we as Christians treat all people with respect whether they’re legal/illegal, black/white/purple, large/small, etc.? That is the Christian thing to do, right? That doesn’t mean condoning illegal or immoral behavior. That doesn’t mean supporting illegal immigration. That means treating a fellow human created by God himself as such. That’s all.
Pssst! I have a soft spot in my heart for religion. Catholicism is a religion. Therefore ....
However, when management of any socially valuable resource, and the Catholic Church IS a socially valuable resource, causes degradation of that resource, management premises and practices are in need of revision.
Commies and Queers have no place in the Catholic Church, other than as penitents, IMHO.
To allow a feeding frenzy of lawyers merely to shelter some queer priests is an example of management unacceptable to a child with a lemonade stand in the front yard.

Indeed it is not. Criticism can be helpful, but what caused me to call bigotry is your painting of all priests as perverts in your comments, most notably:
Oliphant got it right in his cartoon titled The Annual
Running Of The Alter Boys At St. Paedophilias Roman
Catholic Church.
Yes, there have been a lot of cases of poor management of the sex scandals, but the vast majority of priests are good, decent men.
Rapists among the general public are almost always men, as are most murderers. Should I, therefore, say that some man-hating feminist was right to say that all men are rapists and murderers?
Your comment is accepted as the considered critique of my less than precise wording.
In no way did I mean to imply that all priests are queer, pedophiles, etc.
I would feel better about the judgments if there were not the whiff of “Let’s bring down the Church!” about the whole thing. If nothing else, the Church does charity rather better than does the government.
Here in Miami, the Church leaders told the parishes accepting government money that if that parish came out on the short end of the financial deal with Da Gooberment, that that parish would have to deal with the cost overruns.
Gooberment money costs.
In no way did I mean to imply that all priests are queer, pedophiles, etc.

Thank you for clearing that up.
