"We will serve you if you will get us free from the French."
Video at link.
I try not to swear here but DITTOES!
Well said! The only thing we need to do now is pray for these people and assist them in any way we can. A co-worker of mine is from Haiti and a collection was put up for him so he can help his family.
Hey Pat, Fruit Loops are supposed to be eaten not snorted up the nose.
In thinking about Haiti this morning, I was kind of thinking something along these lines. I thought that how could Haiti and other countries be so destitute and their leaders be so evil, with no power to use their God given abilities do do something, anything to help themselves. They seem to live in a different universe, I really thought they must be cursed.
FundaMENTALists on this thread are still pointing fingers and making claims that they have the Bible and God's intent all figured out like Robertson claims to have done.
Like the Bible says, In the end times, there will be many false profits and proclaimers from God. Robertson will repel many potential Christians over this. The idiot Pastor wannabe needs to shut his mouth and get off the T.V.
Does it bother you when people point out that you have bad reading comprehension? :)
I never said that God was punishing Haiti. I said the exact OPPOSITE.
We are all affected because of sin. The creation was affected because of sin.
God did not single out Haiti to be punished for their sin by an earthquake.
I do not agree with Pat Robertson.
Natural disasters are a result of sin in that the world was perfect before sin entered it. Not because God used this earthquake to punish sin.
The comment that I made that you flamed me for was in response to someone else’s post that sin has consequences.
In the first part I said YES sin has consequences.
In the last part of my post I said HOWEVER that isn’t what Pat is saying. He is saying that this is DIRECT judgement from God.
I do not agree with this but was just pointing out how what the previous poster said did not square with what Pat Robertson was saying.
GOODNESS!
You know how they tie baby elephants to a stake at the circus so they won’t escape.
Why is it that when the elephant grows big enough they are still tied to a stake, even though they are strong enough to easily break away from the stake? It’s because they are conditioned to believe that there is nothing they can do to break free.
I believe that’s exactly what you have here with the Haitian people. They are conditioned to accept where they are, and don’t believe there is anything they can do to change that.
Apperantly Pat was referring to something to an event that can be found in wikipedia: “The most historically important Vodou ceremony in Haitian history was the Bwa Kayiman or Bois Caïman ceremony of August 1791 that began the Haitian Revolution, in which the spirit Ezili Dantor possessed a priestess and received a black pig as an offering, and all those present pledged themselves to the fight for freedom. This ceremony ultimately resulted in the liberation of the Haitian people from French colonial rule in 1804, and the establishment of the first black people’s republic in the history of the world and the second independent nation in the Americas.”
If you watch the entire video... he was appealing to his audience to help the people of Haiti. You would think that Mr. Robertson would realize that his comment relating to Haitian history would be taken out of context. I can’t say that I have never put my foot in my mouth either.

I am constantly amazed by the professions of eighteenth century "deism" that proliferate on this forum.

They have a deep rooted self-esteem problem as a people and are in bondage to a cycle of failure which is sometimes diificult for people to break.
PING TO 71 where my my beliefs about this are articulated. Either you aren’t being honest or you have me confused with someone else!
While others misconstrue their words and use their faulty interpretations as an excuse to hurl vacuous ad hominems.
BTW, I'm not a "fundy", but that bit where you capitalize the word MENTAL everytime you say the word "fundementalist" is a tad juvenile.
You’ll be sure to let God in on your secret, right?
If 2nd Peter is a reflection of God’s heart toward mankind, then Pat Robertson believes that God acted against his own wishes in his treatment of Haiti.
I do believe that sin was partly to blame for the earthquake in Haiti. Not because of some pact with the devil that the Haitians made but because of the sin of Adam and Eve which cursed the entire creation.
I knew that's what you were saying the first time I read your post.
Thank you!
BTW, I have always liked your screenname.
St. Paul talks about the consequences of sin...what’s so hard to believe about voodoo-worshipping Haiti receiving the due consequences for their turning away from God, or...if not that, then God lifting His hand of protection from countries that actively turn their hearts from Him and towards the adversary?
