You know how they tie baby elephants to a stake at the circus so they won’t escape.
Why is it that when the elephant grows big enough they are still tied to a stake, even though they are strong enough to easily break away from the stake? It’s because they are conditioned to believe that there is nothing they can do to break free.
I believe that’s exactly what you have here with the Haitian people. They are conditioned to accept where they are, and don’t believe there is anything they can do to change that.
They have a deep rooted self-esteem problem as a people and are in bondage to a cycle of failure which is sometimes diificult for people to break.
I understand what you are saying, yet, we live in a world where there really is no isolation. People have exposure to different things. I am probably being naive, it just makes me wonder. Look at Africa as well. We know what goes on, we see it first hand, and yet it seems like no matter what they cannot get out of bondage. I am not saying that it is necessarily religion but so much evil does exist in these countries.
