The translation will be sent to the Vatican for approval, which is expected sometime in 2010.

This truly lends new meaning to the expression: Back to the Future.

I guess Fr. Peter Stravinkas isn’t on his “friends list.”

The original LATIN is beautiful - as should the translation be!

Anyone know who the twenty Bishops are who voted with Troutperson? I wonder how many are close to retirement age (most, I hope).

“Bishop Trautman’s proposal was submitted to vote, with the majority of bishops supporting Cardinal George’s decision to accept the Vatican translation 194-20.”

Same question I had. Who were the 20? This vote would be a pretty good indicator of which bishops are still dissenting troublemakers.

It’s not really a political question, except for Trautman & Co. The revised translations are far more ACCURATE.

Maybe we should just go back to the Latin. That would really frost Troutperson.

It's actually ad ALTARE Dei, not altari.

It's not cool when people who REALLY want Latin demonstrate publicly that they REALLY don't know Latin! :-)

Perhaps if he had been hearing and praying it for the last forty five years, he would know it better.

Troutperson needs to be held accountable for past apostate activity. A thorough investigation of his misdeeds would expose his nefarious actions. Using a "Show Trial" format these expositions would be made available for public consumption. We could schedule future trials for Mahoney, Toddie Brown ,Hubbard and Clark. These events would discourage future activities on the part of misguided clergy.

Father John Trigilio has had his battles with Troutman in the past especially in the abuse scandal

It seems the bishop feels he has his own church... and has forgotten his vows.

I’ll find out, and let you know.

After I call, write (with CCs), every last one of them.

Accompanied with a Mass card.

I am all for more faithful translation of the original texts, be they original Scriptural manuscripts or early Sacramentaries.

But it is unfortunate that the Western church will lose some common liturgical vocabulary in that process.

A decade ago, I was plesantly delighted to hear an ecumenical clergy group in which the majority were Southern Baptist (talk about low church, some say that it is so low that you can smell the sulphur!) answer the summons to prayer “The Lord be with you” with “and also with you.”

Something of great value will be lost even though the translation will be more faithful.

**The prelates went on to approve the new liturgical texts which will be implemented in the U.S. beginning in 2010.**

WooHoo. Sorry, Bishop Trautperson.

We can surmise who they are by how they run their dioceses. I'd guess the bishops of Albany and Rochester NY + Mahony in Los Angles, for starters.
