This weekends feedback is in response to a number of queries about the Church of England (Anglicans) officially apologizing to Darwin. However, they dont speak for all attenders of this church, since many of them are still faithful to Scripture and are appalled by their leaders. Rowan Williams is the biggest idiot and has driven the C of E into the ground. What a fool.
Agreed. But he has been great for the Druids.
The problem with organized religion these days is that instead of standing by the theological tenets, they are quick to bow to popular belief. They all seemingly want to be Flip Wilson’s “Church of What’s Happening Now”. I suppose this is to appeal to a larger audience and not offend anyone, but in the end they end up standing for nothing.
Think of the savings on utilities when The Temple of Darwinism and the C of E worship services are conducted by the same people in the same building.
Strange that you would cite an article that relies on Daniel Dennet. Dennet did indeed say the above, but in praise, not condemnation of Evolution.
Dennett sees evolution by natural selection as an algorithmic process (though he spells out that algorithms as simple as long division often incorporate a significant degree of randomness). This idea is in conflict with the evolutionary philosophy of paleontologist Stephen Jay Gould, who preferred to stress the "pluralism" of evolution (i.e. its dependence on many crucial factors, of which natural selection is only one).
Dennett's views on evolution are identified as being strongly adaptationist, in line with his theory of the intentional stance, and the evolutionary views of biologist Richard Dawkins.
Well, if we’ve lost the Church of England we’re...uh, nevermind.
The Church of England is a decaying institution, and it started it’s decay the very minute King Henry VIII broke away from the Church Jesus started, and that is the Roman Catholic Church.
