Ping!
Why are you calling/judging these Bishops as “pompous”?
They are servants of Christ and servants of their dioceses.
Are you a Catholic?
I'll second that!
Trautperson - I ALWAYS use the absurd neutered version of all possible words when speaking to illustrate the silliness of it.
I suppose I am now an old fogey who is behind the times. I actually learned that masculine references were neutral depending on the context. Of course, this could be seen as denigrating to men since the masculine words have non-specific meanings, whereas women are so special that the feminine words all have uniquely feminine meanings.
In fact, giving masculine words a neutered meaning actually goes more in line with political correctness. But hey, it was important for the feminazis to squeal really loudly and upset the apple cart in order draw attention to oneself.
Has it been long enough, folks?
I have it on good authority they’re still aiming for the first Sunday of Advent, 2010. They might not make it, but it’s still the goal.
That was only the "Ordinary" of the Mass. It didn't include the "Propers" and "Commons" -- Prefaces, Collects, etc. which belong to a specific day in the liturgical calendar, a specific class of days (e.g., "Common of Holy Men"), or votive masses for specific occasions or causes.
There's a lot more to the Missale Romanum than just the Ordinary of the Mass. All of it is being re-translated.
We already have the missalettes starting in Advent stashed in our sacristy. Sigh...........this could only mean that the new translations are NOT in them. Probably the dates will mean Advent of 2010.
I surely hope your insider information is on track!
**All of it is being re-translated.**
And I pray for a new translation (back to the old) for the NAB, but, Bishops, please do not do it through different committees...............the current NAB is so corrupted in some parts. It’s so difficult to deal with it reverently sometimes. I facilitate a group of worshippers and I ask them to bring their different Bibles...........At this time, I will almost always side with the Jerusalem. I bring the RSV and sometimes I think that is much better too.
