Something big seems to be brewing in Rome and London. This from the Vatican:
We inform accredited journalists that tomorrow, Tuesday 20 October 2009, at 11am, in the John Paul II Hall of the Press Office of the Holy See, a briefing will be held on a theme pertaining to the relationship with the Anglicans, at which His Eminence Cardinal William Joseph Levada, Prefect of the Sacred Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, and His Excellency Mgr Joseph Augustine Di Noia OP, Secretary of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments will take part.
In a Vatican press conference today, Cardinal William Levada, prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, announced that an Apostolic Constitution has been prepared in response to many requests from groups of Anglican clergy and faithful wanting to enter into full communion with the Church.
The Apostolic Constitution, which Cardinal Levada said provides a reasonable and even necessary response to a world-wide phenomenon, will be a single canonical model for the universal Church which is adaptable to various local situations and equitable to former Anglicans in its universal application.
With so many churches making compromises, I think we’re going to see alot of this in the future.
So when does the Queen say: Sorry about Great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grand uncle Henry. He was a horny old goat who really wanted a son. Can we come back?
So when does the Queen say: Sorry....

that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.
Welcome home, brethern
JOINT STATEMENT BY THE ARCHBISHOP OF WESTMINSTER AND THE ARCHBISHOP OF CANTERBURY
Welcome home, brother and sister Anglicans!
Welcome Home!!!!!!! As a Catholic, it pains me deeply to see our brothers and sisters in Christ, (in different denominations) going through these terrible trials. I can not even imagine (emphasis added) the sufferings you have had to endure. I am so sorry for all the pain that so many have experienced.
God always makes a good out of an evil. I see this as our Blessed Lord separating the sheep from the goats.
There have been many people who have worked and suffered to bring this about - some of them very close to me. This issue has been a divisive one from every side and has taken a tremendous toll on those who have pursued it over a very long period of time. They are rejoicing today.
Personally, it was difficult to walk out of the parish where my dad is the priest (I swam the Tiber last year). It will be nice to be able to go back there for a visit from time to time, once they get all the logistics and the formalities taken care of.
