“How best to witness to Muslims?”

Very carefully, of course.

I don't have any experience trying to convert muslims, but read this tract and thought it was quite good.

http://www.atsdirect.org/epages/atsdirect.sf/4a7badaa121105e92717ac1003570646/Product/View/31078

In Joel Rosenberg's book Epicenter, he talks about someone whose name I can't remember that was witnessing to muslims and I was shockingly surprised how open some of them seemed to be to at least listening to what he had to say.

By example. The same as with everyone else. The Lord called us to be salt, light and leaven, not pushy assholes.

Pardon my French, of course...

Calling All Christians: How Best To Witness to Muslims?
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Christians need to do thing with wisdom and order. I have a plan:

A Christian's first and most important mission field is his **own** kids. Therefore...get your children out of the government atheistic indoctrination camps. One of the most effective way of bringing your own children to the gospel is to give them a thoroughly Christian education. ( Yes, I have links)

The next most important mission field is the children of his congregation. This means seeing that they receive a thoroughly Christian education.

Now turn you attention to the non-Christian parents and kids in your own neighborhood, at work, and places you meet to socialize. If possible offer these kids a thoroughly Christian education.

Then,...If you have any time after all of the above, turn your attention to Muslims.

I don’t want to rain on your parade, but I think emulating the Templers may be the only way at present.

G-d must open their hearts to hear what you are presenting to them. You will know if they are ready to listen and then you can proceed with being their friend and sharing what you are led to share.

Tell them why you have a personal relationship with Jesus and pray, pray, pray for the Holy Spirit to take over.

This is not from personal experience with Muslims.

While some of the more pithy responses are humorous; I would start the same way I would talk to most people — do you know if you are going to heaven.

A Muslim can never answer that. Barring of course the whole blow yourself up for Allah nonsense. Which is probably why that approach is so popular in their world.

Also Jesus (or Isa) has a prominent place in the Koran and performs miracles unlike Mohammed. Ask Muslims about that and Isa’s sinless life also attested to in the Koran.

With the Muslims I’ve heard of coming to Christ, they’ve almost all had a fascination with even the Jesus of the Koran. He also is born of a virgin.

Many Muslims believe that Christianity is a poly-thiestic religion because we worship the Trinity.

I have had some modest success in challenging this idea by suggesting that a man can have many roles; he can be a father, brother, husband, etc: WE can take on many roles, and so does our Father. This is overly simplistic, but I believe that it is a good first step in challenging a very large misconception about Christianity.

Keep this in mind: ultimately, it’s up to a movement of the Holy Spirit on that person. If you’ve made the best case you can for Christ (and what you say, how you say it, etc., can depend on the person) then you’ve done your job. Don’t knock yourself out over one person who just won’t convert! I think you have to spend a lot of time talking about Christ, who he was, and what he really said, using Scripture at every opportunity. The Word of God is your strongest weapon here, so use it liberally.

The bible says that the Holy Spirit’s job is to bring conviction of sin without conviction of sin then it is a mental conversion and not a heart conversion. If yo can talk them into receiving Jesus then someone else can talk them out of accepting Jesus. Pray for conviction just like on the day of Pentecost when Peter preached Christ crucified it pricked their hearts it was a heart conversion. Pray for the power of the Holy spirit to bring conviction pray that the fallow ground of their hearts would be broken up so that the good seed of the Gospel can be planted in their lives through the conviction of the Holy Ghost. And then you must be willing to disciple those you have birthed into the Kingdom of God. If you are not willing to disciple them then you should not birth them. They will need plenty of prayer and guidance from a older brother in Christ.

A very wise Egyptian brother told me after “debating” some hard core Muslims for an hour. Stick to the cross. Not Mohammad, not anything else but the Cross. Don’t insult them and tell them they’re insane. They believe what they believe probably stronger than you believe what you believe. Belittling them does nothing. Stick to the cross.
