Unique among books released by Mormon publishing houses, Eric Shuster's "Catholic Roots Mormon Harvest," will appeal to Catholics as much as it will interest members of the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Subtitled "A Story of Conversion and 40 Comparitive Doctrines," the Cedar Fort release chronicles the conversion of lifelong Catholics Eric and Marilyn Shuster to Mormonism. It also discusses the similar and contrasting aspects of the two faiths.
The devoutly Catholic couple began investigating the church a few years into their marriage, and despite their upbringings and Marilyn's stint as a Franciscan nun, the Shusters were eventually baptized.

A counterpoint to Mormon efforts to prosthelytize may be found in this Catholic How To on responding to Mormon missionary methods:

I haven't read it
but I would bet a Red Bull
that the book will not.

despite their upbringings and Marilyn's stint as a Franciscan nun, the Shusters were eventually baptized. Should read: "despite their upbringings and because of Marilyn's stint as a Franciscan nun .... . She obviously had no understanding of her faith if she quit her 'calling' in the first place.

And should also mention the perverse desire to be approved by man rather than God.

Catholics are commonly targets of mormons, who have historically referred to Catholicism as the great harloy.

It's interesting to look at the results of a Google search on "Catholic Roots Mormon Harvest"...
...Uniformly positive reviews from dozens of Mormon sources only. Within them there's already a hit to an effusive Wikipedia article that is logged for removal and to the author, also a removed Wikipedia page.
It's an informative window on how the LDS dispatches its minions are to manipulate the information cloud.

A better book than the one in the thread article is the following:
William Taylor, Tale of Two Cities: Mormons vs. Catholics
Cheaper too: $10.50

By the way:
About the Author
Father Taylor, raised in a pioneer Mormon family, with love and compassion, compares his mother’s new-found Catholic faith with that of his Mormon forefathers.
The devoutly Catholic couple Devout Catholics don't commit spiritual suicide.

You wrote:

I think you may have misread the passage. The son is now a Father, that is, he’s a Catholic priest. I think he led his mother into the Catholic faith (away from LDS). And when the book description says he compares the two faiths it means that quite literally. He describes what each faith teaches about salvation, baptism, other sacraments, scripture, etc.
As one Catholic reader put it (and this is posted at a BYU webpage):
“Thats why I was so pleased years ago to discover a little book called Tale of Two Cities: Mormons vs. Catholics (the two cities in this case are Salt Lake City and Rome, naturally) by The Reverend William Taylor, a descendant of Mormon pioneers sent by Brigham Young to settle Idahos Bear Lake Valley. Fr. Taylor understands words like priesthood and ordinance have vastly different meanings in the two faiths and he goes out of his way to write so both can understand him. Fr. Taylors love and respect for his relatives and their church comes through on every page, even though theres no question which side hes on hes a Catholic priest, after all. Nevertheless, I think Zeldave would find this book very illuminating.”

I noticed this book many years ago. I think I should pick up a copy. It seems to be repsected by both sides as a very charitable explanation of both faiths by a very charitable and humble Christian man. You can’t beat that.

I thought your post referred to the book by Shuster...my bad. Read my next post on Shuster.

I thought the author's name Eric Shuster rang a bell...he is the founder of the Foundation for Christian Studies, the web site that I outed here
CHRISTIANITY DEFINED - (LDS Site Defining Christianity)Those of you who took part in this thread may recall that his website was very misleading...and, a short time after this thread was posted there was a change in the way the site was presented but he is still trying to define Christianity.
From the website, (note the URL still says "Christianity Defined):
The World in its Pride and Delusion is Exclusionary
If Jesus was so inclusionary, why then do we have individuals fighting so hard to narrow the definition of a Christianeven to the persecution of fellow believers? Do these individuals, like the apostle John in the passage from Luke 9, seek for a more exclusive club and complain when others call themselves Christian but dont practice the same rituals or beliefs as they do?
Pride and arrogance may be among the chief motivations of such Christian detractors, having a desire to separate themselves from others they spiritually disagree with. Perhaps some may be motivated like Saul (before he became Paul), sworn to defend the faith as they know it and therefore feel compelled to protect the Christian moniker according to their own beliefsdespite being in serious error in their persecution of others.
For some the motivation may be fearfear of not clearly understanding the theological beliefs of others, nor taking the time to earnestly do so, thus resulting in the easier resolution of flatly denying to acknowledge anothers Christianity. There may be fear that such acknowledgement will lead to acceptance of anothers beliefs leading to a loss of membership or validity in their own religion. Greed may play a role in the denial of the Christian label by ecclesiastical leaders resisting the loss of tithe paying members by employing a strategy of quiet slander towards other denominations. No matter what the specific reasons are, the resulting fruits of such denials of Christianity are disunity in the Body of Christ, the spread of misinformation, and the sowing of seeds of discord among brethren (Prov. 6:19).

The devoutly Catholic couple began investigating the church a few years into their marriage, and despite their upbringings and Marilyn's stint as a Franciscan nun, the Shusters were eventually baptized. It's not much of a leap; jumping from one top-down driven organization to another; especially if things other than the BIBLE are to lead you throught life.
Catholics say they have the answers to things that protestants seek;
Mormons say they have the answers that Catholics seek,
And Scientology says that IT has the answers to which ALL of us seek!
