Old-Earth Creationism

by Henry Morris, Ph.D.

Many evangelical leaders today, unfortunately, have capitulated to the evolutionary timescale of modern unbelieving geologists and astronomers. They feel that they must somehow reinterpret the Genesis record of creation to allow for billions of prehistoric years, which the evolutionists must have in order to make cosmic evolution and biological evolution seem feasible. This compromise is necessary, they say, in order to win scientists and other intellectuals to the Lord...

I realize that Romans 5 puts the blame on Adam. How is it that the Genesis account seem to intimate that both Satan and Eve sinned before Adam?

My guess is because God gave the command to Adam. Adam was then responsible to communicate that command effectively. We'll never know if he communicated it effectively but what we do know is that Eve had it wrong and Adam didn't do anything about it. He was responsible for both communicating God's Word as well as responsible to speak up when he heard the addition to what God had said and of course for following God's Word himself.

"You must believe in faith healers then."

I never take anyone seriously if they don't. Most physicians admit that they do, and that healing doesn't happen without God's intervention. (then of course there are the others)

I said it wrong originally and corrected it in 122. The ice age was the aftermath of the flood. There is not enough ice to flood the entire earth. However, there is plenty of water to cover the earth if the topography was different prior to or changed during the time of the flood.

The evos claim the ice age happened 20,000 years ago, and that the earth is billions of years old (all unwarranted guesswork and assumptions). As if for some reason the earth cooled 20,000 years ago, but never did before - you'd think there'd be more than one ice age! (Unless some great catastrophe happened at some point in history, hmmm....)

At least you seem to realize that you support a losing ideology. The thrashing and constant strawmen prove that.

So all the “scientists” at ICR are wasting their time?

Yeah, all that scientific evidence stacked up against your "evidence". LOL!

Yes, there were many previous ice ages. That was easy.

I answered it earlier in this thread and also on others.

Oh, I'm sure you have, did and will; over and over and over and over and....

==Obviously not. Why not enlighten me? How does the Biblical water cycle differ from the scientific one?

Why do you keep trying to equate evo-religion with science? Evo-meteorology, evo-geology, evo-biology, etc, etc, is an attempt to fit the data into the materialist world view.

You still have not addressed my original point.

How about taking the strongest arguments from both sides and let the students decide for themselves?

How did the Flood happen?

I have a hard time believing it did. At least by the Biblical description.

So there is no creation meteorology, creation geology, creation astronomy. There is the Bible, and everything that conflicts with it is false and not really science?

If you are asking if creationists believe in biological change over time, yes we do. However, we believe it is mostly non-random (i.e. a frontloaded ability), and where change is random it is almost always harmful, and we believe that said changes cannot extend further than the boundary of the ancestral kinds.

And these will be followed, I suppose, by Creation Physics, Creation Chemistry, Creation Math, and RidiCreation Phys-Ed. And the students from this Creation School will, of course, graduate to jobs in the exciting field of Creation Fast Food.

Ridiculous. One only needs to look at the vast accomplishments on various Creation websites in almost all the subjects you mention to know that's simply not true - and that's with only a drop in the bucket of money compared to the billions of dollars funding the evo-(non)-scientists steal from the taxpayers annually.

Once the last vestiges of evolutionist pseudoscience are purged from the schools and the labs, you'll see a new science with vast accomplishments explode forth from the lab, as guided by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

No need to guess wrong. Scripture does not say that Adam needed to communicate the message to Eve and Genesis 3:2-3 shows the Eve did get the message.

The question is, when did Satan sin and why didn't his sin bring in death?

One note:

I’d not mention ice cores when talking about 6,000 years......the EPICA and a few other cores record over 700,000 winters....and their error rate is not in the 690,000+ winter range.

....and there are many 100,000-400,000 summer-winter cores.

“Their” explanation considers volume of ice and the possibility of creating said volume in 6000 years. “Their” explanation is that because there are a few sub-annual events detectable in the upper reaches that mimic a “layer” (when they really don’t look like a “layer” as it refers to a winter-summer layer, just somthing detectable), that are counted as a “year”.....but their thinking would have to have 120 sub-annual events per year for 6000 years.

....when the record shows less than one per year......and only at the most recent years are they visible because the “year” is stretched over a longer distance, they disappear after a short period of time because the ice compresses them to undetectable status...blurring them into the “summer” and “winter” bands.

The excuse of “they become a layer of their own” further down is rather bogus.

If you don’t know how the Flood happened and don’t even believe it could have happened, your comments, up thread, were disingenuous.

Hi Seven,

Satan fell before he makes his appearance in the garden, in the previous age, but why do you see Eve as having sinned before Adam?

Based on what science teaches us about the water table and what geology teaches us about the formation of the earth's surface then no, I cannot understand how it could rain enough to cover mountains 25,000 feet above the sea level. I don't understand where that water came from and where it went to.

I've since been told that my confusion is due to the fact that I adhere to science based on Darwinism and if I would look into biblical meteorology and biblical geology then all would become clear. Why not just say "then a miracle occured" and be done with it? What other explanation is necessary?

Because Eve gave the fruit to Adam. I don't believe that Adam would have eaten the fruit if Eve hadn't already eaten. He knew better. It had to be a tough decision.
