TaraP, asking that kind of question here is a sure way to be confused. The true answer, regardless of anyone’s religious beliefs, is search for yourself in the Scriptures, ponder, pray, and listen to God’s response. He will let you know. Listening to anyone else is a sure way to be confused. As for the Sabbath day, and I know I’ll be slammed for this, it is the one day out of seven that you rest as the Lord rested. I personally don’t think it matters which day since calendar’s and dates are often changed and the true day is probably, regardless of countless religious opinions, unknown. Again, read, ponder and pray, and the Lord’s answer is the only answer you should listen too.

...I have read my Bible through repeatedly for 25 years....yada yada yada...

2Ti 3:7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

(What is that Truth)

1Ti 2:4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

1Ti 2:5 For [there is] one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

Wow...you say Jesus is God but the Bible CLEARLY says he isn't.

Who to believe...who to believe....?

Jesus is the SON of God AND Jesus is God.

“Then He said to Thomas, ‘Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach your hand here, and put it into My side. Do not be unbelieving, but believing.’ And Thomas answered and said to Him, ‘My Lord and my God!’” (John 20:27-28)

“I and My Father are one.” (John 10:30)

“Philip said to Him, ‘Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us.’ Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father, so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father?’” (John 14:8-9)

Your insulting words are inappropriate.

Silly?

Or you don’t know how to answer it?

Or is this the first time that you realized that water baptism isn’t for the New Testament believers yet you still practice it.

One baptism...one. Which is it? Which to you stake your salvation on?

“Therefore let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths,

which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ.” (Col 2:16)

“One person esteems one day above another; another esteems every day alike. Let each be fully convinced in his own mind. He who observes the day, observes it to the Lord; and he who does not observe the day, to the Lord he does not observe it.” (Romans 14:5-6a)

In addition to what Marie said...IF Jesus is not GOD in the flesh, then how do we understand who GOD is? If GOD spoke to Moses on the Mountain, he spoke to him in a language of a human being so his spirit would have a likeness of a human being if he was speaking that way.

Also we as human beings have a physical body, a soul and spirit.
All 3 of those things makes us *Us*

GOD mades us in his *likeness*

Post 43 mentions that they believe in soul sleep— that believers do not immediately go to heaven when they die. There was a tv show I happened to see on a fuzzy station that comes in once in awhile when the wind blows the right way. They were discussing soul sleep and gave some verses that they say are taken out of context by those who say believers go immediately to heaven when they die. They never touched on _to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord_ — at least not directly. They kept skirting around it and talking about how we all know the one that is taken most out of context, but evidently they had discussed that at length on a previous episode and didn’t have time to go into it further. I don’t know how they could reinterpret that.

To me, it seemed like they were taking things out of context. To them, it would seem like I’m taking things out of context.

Fun to argue with literal types like you.

Jesus, at the Last Supper, says clearly, “This is my BODY” and “This is my BLOOD” -— and the literalists who persecuted the early Church, therefore, called us cannibals!

There is no reason why one can NOT be Baptized by the Holy Spirit AND by Water, AT THE SAME TIME! What in the world makes them exclusive?

They are the SAME!

Another problem with Millerites, SDA, and Jehovahs: FEW of them, from the early days, knew any other language but English, and their English skills were POOR at that. Then, these uneducated people do not understand the shortcomings of any translation, and they try to concoct theory that was not at all what the speaker or the author, in original Scripture, had in mind.

Listening you you types is like watching a cheap spaghetti western or a cheap Godzilla movie, and knowing that what the actors are SAYING is NOT what the “translator” is saying, in the captions.

Your leaders were uneducated frauds. They made lots of mistakes. Since that time, your faith has been preoccupied by damage control and fixing your past mistakes.

Your insulting words are inappropriate.

No..., yes they are!

Your proof texts show only that you prefer to use scripture to prove your case even if it means discounting clear uncontrovertbale scripture.

What Thomas said is the figure of speech "hendiadys" and you can google that yourself.

As far as I and my father being one...

Jhn 17:11 And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we [are].

Jesus prayed that his followers would be one "as we are one"...which would mean that they would be gods, too.

Show us the father?

No man hath seen God at any time. God is invisible. God is not a man. God is not the son of man.

Jesus, the man and son of Man, is the REPRESENTATION of the invisible God....

Your feelings are really inconsequential when compared to the idea that you don't know the difference between God and Jesus and what that implies. But I'm sure God's grace and mercy will cover a lot.

I’d check out Marysecretary’s post #14. This is close to the truth. JMHO. I would suggest you read Matthew Chapter 15, it may give you some insight. For me it all boils down to Loving God with all your heart, and Loving your neighbor. Jesus gave us wonderful gifts: Salvation and a pattern upon which to live our earthly lives. I truly hope you find the joy I have. Check out my About Page and you will see where I am at. God Bless You on your Journey.-—JM

Going off on a tangent won't distract me from extracting an answer from you.

John's words: Mat 3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and [with] fire:

Jesus said: Act 1:5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

Paul's words: Eph 4:4 [There is] one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
Eph 4:5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
Eph 4:6 One God and Father of all, who [is] above all, and through all, and in you all.

So...what say YOU? Water or spirit?

you don't know

Discuss the issues all you want, but do not make it personal.

Reading the mind of another Freeper is a form of making it personal.

You are a dullard with no understanding of Biblical Metaphor, poetry, or language.

You are making an argument where no controversy exists.

You think you see contradiction, when only your MIND, and the weakness of your mind are at issue.

GOD mades us in his *likeness*

Not really...God MADE, FORMED, and CREATED us....he formed us of the earth (physical body), he made us living (breathing) beings with a soul (nephis chi), and he created us in His image...God is spirit and he created adam with with a spiritual aspect that was lost when he sinned.

Read Genesis and Isaiah for details.

Insulting me when you can’t answer the question only makes you look the dullard.

Face it, you still practice water baptism when John, Jesus, and Paul all said that baptism of holy spirit would replace water.

Your worship of water baptism contradicts the Bible and you’re just pissed at me for pointing it out.

Not a problem at all....for me anyway.
