Religion is the problem, just like government is the problem.
In both cases people have beliefs that don't fit reality.
In both cases people try to push their beliefs on other people.
In both cases people believe in fairytales that just aren't true. They have no factual support.
In both cases people believe "faith" should substitute for facts, like with Obama for instance, and Bush for that matter, and "going to heaven" for instance, and an "ever-burning hell" for that matter.
In both cases you can't say what you think.
In both cases you have to be "politically correct."
In both cases people are generally of poor character.
In both cases people have little or no integrity.
In both cases people have little or no honesty.
In both cases people have very thin skin, and can't take criticism.
In both cases people think they're better than everyone else.
Oops. Too late :) It will all disappear behind a cloud of smoke anyway.
Grow up.
>> Religion is the problem, just like government is the problem.
As the saying goes, if you’re not part of the solution, then you’re part of the problem.
I know where I stand. “As for me and my house, we shall serve the Lord”.
What’s *your* solution, FRiend?
Well, for the “most part” that is true. There is only one exception. Christianity is true, 100%. Otherwise, everything else is okay...
:-)
Was your reality check canceled?
Eyewitnesses of events that happened often before multitudes of people
Stone markers and other memorials where events took place, which the people then living could go and see for themselves, some of which still remain today,
Events and places traceable on a map
Prophecies consistently repeated, elaborated over centuries and even millennia, concretely fulfilled.
The one thing it is not is a collection of fairy tales
“Die Religion ... ist das Opium des Volkes.”
Herr Marx apparently never considered the potential of atheism.
The perfect world does not exist nor will it ever. There are evil people in this world and so long as there are there will be no peace. Religions try to control evil for the most part but they too have different definitions of evil and usually the competing religion is an evil one. Religion in itself is not a problem, the people that practice it, that have different ideas as to what is right and what is wrong, create a problem when they can’t meet on common ground. Why do we believe? Maybe because we fear death or we are not at the development stage where we are capable of knowing why we exist? I was brought up to believe that God loves everyone, he forgives us for being bad and he is the creator of all things (a simplistic answer for what can not be explained). If God loves everyone and is forgiving why does he need hell? He should forgive all those evil people sent there and pardon them. If the Devil is so evil, God should just evaporate him. Remove the Devil, provide food, shelter and good climate and there would be no problems. God could go on an extended vacation. Man has worshiped Gods since the beginning. The Sun was God. Early man may have been on the right track with that one. Think about it, if you take away the Sun, there would be no mankind and no religions.
Don’t move.
Place the Hegel on the table and slowly back away from the dialectic.
Had we remained pagans, we probably couldn't have spread so rapidly (due to divisions and the ossification of pre-Christian elites), but we would have had a more confident culture.
My main problem with the influence of religion in American culture is the Calvinist concept of guilt that has wreaked havoc on race relations, to say nothing of the belief that the US should "convert the world" which has lead to countless foreign policy disasters and the overstretch of our military.
Atheists are the problem: All of your totalitarian states are atheistic in nature. The less folks believe in God, the more they believe in Big Government. See communists.
It probably bounced.
Nah. The problem is internet chat forums. People get screwed up ideas about each other when then start to interact anonymously.
Aaargh!
[Piñata for the RF] added the title.
Have fun everyone.
Imagine no (self-promoting atheistic pagan) religion...
Some zots are more Eternal than others, I hear.
First off there turkey, Christianity is never “pushed on someone”. It is feely given, freely recieved, end of story. If someone makes you do it, or work for it, you can be sure it is of the devil and NOT Jesus Christ.
Perhaps people who don’t recognize that we live in a free country with a first amendment having a “no establishment” and a “free exercise” clause are a problem. People have a right to religious belief and to speak and preach it in public. You don’t have to listen or believe. Tolerance is a two way street, and I see precious little of it from the anti-religious liberals who run our culture.
How much integrity does it take for a bitter old atheist to post a thread bashing every religion in the Religion Forum, and then disappear and not respond to a single post?
In both cases people have very thin skin, and can't take criticism.
Yeah, right. Welcome to the Religion Forum, pal.
