In this video (Run Time 6:49) you are going to hear Rick Warren asking Christians to be as dedicated to his Global P.E.A.C.E. Plan as the Nazis were to Hitler. Warren wants Christians to commit themselves to do 'whatever it takes' to slay the global giants.
The problems with this are almost too many to list. But here are a couple.
1. Jesus has NOT commissioned the Church to go and slay global giants (spiritual lostness, egocentric leadership, poverty, disease, and ignorance). Jesus has commissioned the church to proclaim "repentance and the forgiveness of sins in Jesus' name to all nations" (Luke 24:46-48) and to make disciples of all nations (Matt 28:18-20)
2. Lifting up Nazi passion and commitment and asking Christians to have that same passion and commitment is not just tacky, it is out right creepy. Is Warren building an army?
The Your Best Purpose Driven Life Now Ping List (YBPDLNPL) is published infrequently, but based on the exploits of megachurch pastors posts can spike for a period of time. If you would like on or off of this list please FReepmail me.
Who or what are the global giants that need slaying? Capitalism? That’s already dead, Jim.
Creepy, But I am so glad he is at Soetoro’s coronation.
Can’t we do better than a “Reductio ad Hitlerum” arguement?
Intellectual laziness
Does this mean we need to be ready and willing to kill Jews and Gypsies to accomplish his “Purpose”?
Funny how this man actually got labelled as evil by the left, even though he supports so much of what they want.
Too many people trying to create heaven on earth. Too few working to bring people on earth to heaven.
His administration is the most polarizing force on the north american continent since forever.
“... you are going to hear Rick Warren asking Christians to be as dedicated to his Global P.E.A.C.E. Plan as the Nazis were to Hitler.”
Shouldn’t Christians be dedicated to Jesus Christ and the Word of God, rather than some plan dreamed up by Warren or any other man?
Rick Warren is not my pastor bump.
You got THAT right!
That first, THEN the social stuff will take care of itself.
Yes, we are called to proclaim “repentance and the forgiveness of sins in Jesus’ name to all nations.” But we are also called to be “salt” and “light.” We can both proclaim the gospel AND “slay global giants” as this author puts it.
"... on earth as it is in heaven...." We *are* called to bless those around us, to share heaven with them, to be salt, to be light, to create a bit of heaven here on earth.
like Nazis?
No, thank you.
First they came for the Jews
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for the Communists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for me
and there was no one left
to speak out for me.
Pastor Martin Niemöller
Community and individuality are not opposites. People cannot survive on their own. When the odds are stacked against you, you must rally with the oppressed and hated.
When a growing oppressive regime is taking hold, you must act, otherwise you will soon face your enemy alone and hopeless.
Strength of community is a strength as much as individualism, as long you are willing to face weaknesses in your own community. Ignoring slacking values will mean that you will be rallied against by those you oppress.
Niemöller affirms we must rally against unhealthy organized regimes. We must also stay vigilant with those that appear to be good natured, as all organisation attracts corruption. Niemöller also warns us that if it is you who are corrupt, then you will face a stronger combined force of foe!

Rick Warren is just another in the endless parade of Charlatans who make a killing off US protestants. Joel Osteen is another.
Yes, but then how will Warren make money?
