John F. MacArthur is no ordinary evangelical. I think that there is something special about him because of the unusual excellence of his book The Gospel According to Jesus. I consider that book to be the finest exposition on the gospel ever written.
The most surprising thing about John MacArthur is his wide acceptance, given that he believes in the true gospel and takes a strong stand on the historic Protestant understanding of Roman Catholicism. Consider his protestant message, Unmasking the Pope and the Catholic System, delivered shortly after the death of Pope John Paul II, and see if you can either respect or refute his statements.

Devotional threads are closed to debate of any kind.
Caucus threads are closed to any poster who is not a member of the caucus. If it says Catholic Caucus and you are not Catholic, do not post to the thread. However, if the poster of the caucus invites you, I will not boot you from the thread. The caucus article and posts must not compare beliefs or speak in behalf of a belief outside the caucus.
Ecumenic threads are closed to all anti arguments. Posters may express the beliefs they are for but not those they are against. They may also ask questions. Posters who try to tear down others beliefs or use subterfuge to accomplish the same goal are the disrupters on ecumenic threads and will be booted from the thread and/or suspended. Do not pick at scabs by mentioning prior open threads. If you need to make a point previously made on an open thread, summarize it anew.
Open threads are a town square posters may argue for or against beliefs of any kind. They may tear down other's beliefs. They may ridicule, similar to the Smoky Backroom with the exception that a poster must never make it personal. Reading minds and attributing motives are forms of making it personal. Thin-skinned posters will be booted from open threads because in the town square, they are the disrupters.
Every poster has a voice on the Religion Forum.
Leave the thread.
Where is “mob rule”. I don’t believe such a position can be ascribed to Catholic posters.
No Protestant FReeper can factually say that h/her “free speech” has been curtailed here.
Justice is mine, says the Lord. He who knows hearts will know how to apply His justice.
No Protestant poster can factually assert that there is not justice on this forum.
Responses from Catholics—yes.
Rebuttals from Catholics—yes.
Defense of the Catholic faith—yes.
But Catholics are not attempting mob rule, suppression of speech or distortion of justice.
Debunk the claim on thread.
I listened to some of it,and it is ridiculous and historically inaccurate.
Did you even listen to ALL OF IT? Be Honest?
If Not ,I would think it be your duty as RM to do so and at least require written back up on such divisive inaccuracies to allow us to prove it wrong without having to endure this offense man
The closer they follow him, the closer they are to one another. Those who follow him passionately in spirit are one. It doesn't have to do with theological quibbles, liturgical disputes, or labels.
Someday this will be widely realized, and that is what ecumenism is all about.
Easily offended? Thats funny. Thats OK, I can deal with these types.
If either of you want to post a transcript, then have at it.
Have you listened to it or not?
"Wait!" says the Magic User. "This argument is completely pointless!"
"It better be!" exclaims one of the bloodied combatants, "We're both clerics!"
If a man believes in the Trinity, and believes that Jesus is the sole, complete, and perfect price of our Salvation from the pit, then he is my brother. All other arguments created by Screwtape and his ilk are like dandelion blossoms; they may occupy me for a time, but only seek to draw me away from the core truths of my Savior. If Christ could be the price for Jew and Gentile alike, he can certainly be the price for Catholic and Protestant, despite the other differences of opinion we share.
Those who seek to promote disagreement between these two branches of my family are doing it for the obvious reasons of blinding us to our unity, and turning us from the intelligent consideration of how we will together protect our Ship of State from those who want all Christians enslaved or dead.
I rebuke you, Wormwood; go talk to the Reverend Wright...he might be interested in what you have to say.
AMEN!
Every corner of [England] was searched for those books - the ports were laid for them, Paul's Cross is witness of burning many of them, the Prince's proclamation was procured against them; in the universities by sovereign authority colleges, chambers, studies, closets, coffers and desks were ransacked for them.

It is a rather incovenient truth for those who would describe catholics as anti-biblical. The fact of the matter is that the real differences are sola scriptura, grace alone and the nature of priesthood and the sacraments and the like.
When we continue to stir the pot on things that are simply distortions, we give the impression of being motivated by tactics rather than fidelity. These discussions need to move on past false allegations and into deeper understanding in a spirit of Christian unity and charity.
