Guys,
Please don’t misunderstand what The Woim is saying in his first post. I didn’t want to come across as judgemental (LOL!)...
Of course desecrated the Eucharist is the gravest of sins! But remember that the Roman Catholic Church has withstood 2000 years of enemies with swords, words, guns, poison, torture contraptions, in fact, everything including the kitchen sink.
Jesus of Nazarath said the gates of hell will not prevail against his Church and Jesus meant it. These stupid and foolish people will have no bearing on the future of the Roman Catholic Church - even our own priests can’t defeat it.
Sorry for any misunderstanding. And May God Bless our mistaken brothers (i.e., The Protestants) along with his Holy Roman Catholic Church.
Yours Truly,
The Woim
"Advantage" over what? Secularism? Paganism? Self-worship? Certainly.
"Advantage" over Catholics? Hardly. Check out the Baltimore Catechism (for example).
They may be protestant in the literal sense of protesting against the Catholic Church, but most historical Protestant Christian communities have been far more sane and reverent than these clowns.
Now I’ve had my laugh fix for the day.
Well, for now, anyway. When the administrator, Fr. Connolly, leaves on May 25, it is entirely possible that they'll not appoint a new one, and use that as an excuse to shut the church down. Then again, we've received at least four stays of execution already, including when they appointed Fr. Connolly. The pin could have been pulled then, but it wasn't. So, who knows what's next! BTW, in case you don't know, we'll be doing a traditional Mass of Institution for Holy Thursday, and a High Mass for Easter. All of our Masses thus far have been Low Masses, but the occasional High may be in the offing now that the server crew is growing and Fr. Taurasi is being trained in High Mass (he's been doing an excellent Low Mass for years now). Unfortunately, we won't have him too long no matter what; he's only up here on sabbatical till October.
So has O'Malley moderated his opposition -- or is he lying low until the clarification of the MP comes out? Inquiring minds want to know!
Put ‘em out..
I myself have thought the same thing. I don’t know if I could trust myself to NOT scream out!
Who was it that said there would be people stepping on the skulls of bishops trying to get out of hell or going into hell? I can’t remember who said it.
“The streets/floors of hell are paved with the skulls of bishops.” It has been attributed to St. John Chrysostom and St. Athanasius, among others.
I didn’t mean to ignore you but I’ve been insanely busy.
I brought it up to a woman who is very active in the Altar Society just during a conversation and I could see even then that it was going to bear fruit, you could see the little light go on and the thought, “I didn’t know that.”
If your parish is like mine that might be the place to start, the Altar Society has some power and they buy most of what is on the Altar and if you approach it not as “it MUST be this, do it now!” but “Did you know...?”
That’s a great idea, and I think I’ll see if my wife would be willing to helpful informer due to the fact that I lack tact ;)
