You are being ‘pinged’ because I have seen your heart for prayer on one or more recent Free Republic prayer threads. This thread is for those interested in worshipping and praying for those who support our troops and our troops themselves. If this is of interest to you, please read on. I have only been blessed to be part of the FR community for a few months. I was drawn to get involved by the prayers I saw posted in a prayer thread for a wounded Marine last August who was not expected to survive. (BTW, he not only survived by the power of prayer, but is still recuperating.)
In September 2007 I came to Washington D.C. from my home in Northern California at the invitation of a FReeper active in the D.C. Chapter. One of the reasons I was coming was to bring a song the Lord had had me compose and record (full story at www.holyspiritpress.org/standup.html) to support our troops and encourage our nation to support them even though I am a housewife and mother – not a professional singer (you can listen to the song at www.youtube.com/user/ascendinworship )
The Lord made it clear I was to make the trip even though at the time He had not yet revealed all the reasons why. I knew I was to bring copies of the CD to give our wounded at Walter Reed, as well as to stand with GOE at a press conference to support Petraeus on Captiol Hill, to walk with other GOE members through the halls of Congress and to hand out copies of STAND UP in the various congressional offices to encourage a vote to continue to fund the War On Terror. In addition, I was to visit the wounded Marine who at that point still lay in a coma and to worship and pray with his family in his room at Bethesda for his healing.
However, as the plane began its descent to land at Dulles airport in D.C. I felt like the Lord whispered a message to me and I wrote it down. In part it said, “You are going behind enemy lines to bring ME and MY encouragement, hope and covering (through the addition of prayer and worship to their activism) to those who tirelessly fight My fight, but in their own power. Most of these are in their own power right now. Bring them to ME. Teach them to seek, listen and rely on Me, so I can impart the strategy, the only strategy which will defeat the enemy – MINE…I will send you the prayer warriors. Link the prayer warriors – the intercessors and worshippers…wit the activists…Show them how it has always been – praisers lead into battle. Worship is rewarded by release of the supernatural strategy which WILL lead to victory.
Since that September 2007 D.C. trip, one D.C. Chapter Freeper and I have indeed prayed almost every single Friday by phone to cover planned D.C. Chapter activities for that night at Walter Reed and the weekend in prayer. We also pray regularly for the recovery of our wounded warriors and for a growing faith base in our country (because though we support our troops and those who support them, we also understand God’s overriding objective in all things on earth is to restore as many as will come back to Him for all eternity!) This young lady and I will likely continue our coast-to-coast weekly prayer. However, God has now laid on my heart that it is time to broaden the worship and prayer cover for the activities of those who support our troops, our wounded warriors, our deployed troops and their families.
I believe the many of the prayer warriors He would have participate are right here on Free Republic. I believe you will know who you are.
Please pray if you are called to join in united worship and prayer for those who support our troops and our military. (And please ‘ping’ anyone else you believe He might be calling to get involved.)
The power of our worship and prayers cannot be underestimated. Surely for those who are called it is as important as physically being present at the event. And while many of us would like to participate physically and tangibly in as many as the troop-supporting events as possible, this worship/prayer can be done anyplace, anytime – including at the events OR from home! It is vital and critical work and it is an honor to be called to it!!
As you all know, God’s first command is that we have no other gods before Him. Re-phrased, this means He commands us to worship Him alone. To worship is to bow down before something or someone because it is “worth” bowing down to. God is only One worthy of our worship. God is unchanging. How He was is how He is. He is also Truth, which by definition means He cannot lie. God promises to fulfill His promises, therefore we can expect Him to fulfill His promises for us just as He has done in every generation past, including in the stories of the Old and New Testaments. When we obey His command to worship, God promises to draw near.
Heaven is our model. In heaven, worship and intercession occur without ceasing: Angels and those who have gone before are constantly worshipping before the throne of God; Jesus is simultaneously worshipped and is interceding on our behalf at the right hand of the Father. Jesus taught us to pray: Our Father who is in heaven; holy is Your name; Your kingdom, come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
The idea is for the remnant of His faithful on earth to create an atmosphere of worship, adoration and intercession which puts Him first (thus fulfilling ‘if my people who are called by my Name will humble themselves, seek My face and pray’, then He will restore our land 2 Chron 7:13)
God and His power are inseparable. It is part of who He is. Thus where He is present, so is His power. The objective through our united worship is to cause God to release a cloud of His glory which fills the atmosphere of this country, the battlefields of the War on Terror and ultimately the world. This will enable there to be results from the work done by the activists who support our troops to confound the world’s experts. Our troops and their supporters will not only be blessed by the manifestation of God’s supernatural in unexpected ways into their natural, but – even more importantly – the reality of God will be revealed to more people as well.
Are you called to be part of this worship and prayer cover for those who support our troops? This is the initial idea of how it will look (subject to change as things develop). The thread is to be ongoing. (Is that possible? Please tell me how to do it if it is not….) Periodically, as He leads, I will post a prayer He has had me write down as I pray it. You will be ‘pinged’. You are then responsible to respond only as He leads. For instance sometimes you may post a public response (it may be as simple as ‘prayers up’ or another prayer); you may post your own prayer to the thread and ping us; you may lurk and not let anyone know you are praying but pray in one accord; you may at times be called not to participate at all. The prayers posted can be intercession – asking/beseeching for something in particular – or worship – simply adoring Him in words for who He is what He does, what He’s done and what He definitely will do. The postings can be for a particular activism event someone is aware of or in general. DO AS THE HOLY SPIRIT LEADS.

God be with all of you. I can already tell from what little I have learned about you that your hearts are most definitely for Him. May He bless you richly and use you tremendously for His kingdom work whatever that work is.

Prayers for our troops & their families
Lord God, we are thankful....so thankful for how You answered our prayers for the weekend, especially in Berkeley. Lord God how amazing You are, how wonderful Your ways!! We choose to stop for a moment and simply give thanks for all You did. You brought soooo many good people to stand up for our military. And with their action came good report that everyone acted in a way that honors You. No one stooped to the ugly tactics of the enemy - operating in hatred, anger or bitterness. And there was a spirit of unity among those who came. Boldness in standing up for our military and yet a joy in the work. Thank you God for every single person who came and every single person who provided prayer cover or helped in any other way. Lord God, please bless each one of them and their families.
You promise that when we follow where You lead, You will be our Protector and Provider, meeting all our needs sufficiently. Meet the needs of those who serve You in this country, Lord God. Meet the needs of those standing up for our troops here and for our troops and their families who are fighting the War On Terror in every capacity.
We thank You for Your Sovereign hand in our lives. We thank You that through You there will be victory.
Continue raising up those who will do the work. Bring more to each rally.
Thank you for the media coverage. Continue to break through in a way people will know it was by Your power to cause more TRUTH to be reported.
We wait in joyful hope for what You will do next and bow in thanksgiving for what You have done - both seen and unseen.
Hear our prayers. Protect all those who are serving in dangerous places and uncover the enemy. The battle is Yours, Lord. Thank you for being our God, our Mighty Warrior King - Lord of the armies. In Jesus’ name, Amen

Just to let you know (those who have followed) baby girl will be here tomorrow, March 28. Everything is ready so the docs have decided to induce tomorrow at 6am so son can see the baby for at least a couple of days before deployment, April 1.

Prayers for our troops & their families. May God Bless them & keep them safe.
Lord God, Heavenly Perfect King, You are Lamb of God who was slain for our sins. You are the Victor who sits on the throne with everything, including death under Your feet. Lord God, we continue to try to walk out the work You give us, but You know our efforts our futile if Your power is not in them. Lord God this goes especially for our troops serving overseas. Lord God many of the enemy represent a supernatural evil. We cannot come against this and hope to win in our own strength. And so we call out to You, to draw more and more troops to faith in You, that they might call to You and enlist Your support, Your supernatural invading their natural to have lasting effect on the enemy’s turf in this way.
Lord God, we ask the same for those who support our troops. Father, we are not unmindful of how You have answered our prayers and brought people to the recent rallies. Indeed, we thank you for all you have done!! But the task is not complete. God, Father God, we ask You to put Your sovereing protection and provision around all those who love You in accordance with Your promises and where the people ahve been faithful to You and Your principles, do the work and cause progress to be made. We cannot do this but You can!!! We ask Your special blessing on events beginning Monday and through the week regarding Gen. Petraeus’ hearing before Congress. Lord God, cause them to vote in favor of continued funding. Silence the mouth of the accuser and slanderer in the House testimony sessions. Give Petraues words from You that carry Your power on them and cause the enemy’s voice to be STILLED! Lord God, bring just who You intend to D.C. for the calling on congressmen on Monday and Vets on the Hill as the week ensues give all travelling mercies that they might find safe passage there and back. Cause there to be unexpected results in a way which reveals Your hand in this!! Put watchmen on the walls who will understand how important it is to stand faithful in prayer even as others are walking out the work in the natural.
Lord God thank you for bringing so many of the 3rd LAR home safely next week to TwentyNine Palms. Cause them to know how much we appreciate them!
Lord God comfort those whose sons, daughters, husbands, wives, etc have made the ultimate sacrifice recently as well as the Maupin family whose son’s remains were just found this week after he was kidnapped four years ago.
Lord God, You must fulfill Your promises, so over time, use all these things which cause us to grieve so much for good!!! We must trust in You and believe You will do this!
Father God, we also pray for safety for our warriors still in harm’s way and that Osama Bin Laden would be CAUGHT!
Father, encourage those who are injured that their lives still have divine purpose and give them strength and a knowledge of you to perservere.
Thank you for all those who stand up for our troops, especially those at Walter Reed every Friday night FReeping who celebrating a special birthday of consecutive weeks of service at the end of March. Lord God bless these people richly.
WE stand in awe of You, Lord. Do the work. We will tell the story and You will be glorified. In Jesus’ mighty Name, Amen
