Are You Called to Provide Worship & Prayer Cover For Those Who Support Our Troops & Our Military

You are being ‘pinged’ because I have seen your heart for prayer on one or more recent Free Republic prayer threads. This thread is for those interested in worshipping and praying for those who support our troops and our troops themselves. If this is of interest to you, please read on. If not, send me a private note to be removed from future ‘pings’. (I apologize I don’t know how to put a link for Add/Remove into my posts yet.)

I have only been blessed to be part of the FR community for a few months. I was drawn to get involved by the prayers I saw posted in a prayer thread for a wounded Marine last August who was not expected to survive. (BTW, he not only survived by the power of prayer, but is still recuperating.)

In September 2007 I came to Washington D.C. from my home in Northern California at the invitation of a FReeper active in the D.C. Chapter. One of the reasons I was coming was to bring a song the Lord had had me compose and record (full story at www.holyspiritpress.org/standup.html) to support our troops and encourage our nation to support them even though I am a housewife and mother – not a professional singer (you can listen to the song at www.youtube.com/user/ascendinworship )

The Lord made it clear I was to make the trip even though at the time He had not yet revealed all the reasons why. I knew I was to bring copies of the CD to give our wounded at Walter Reed, as well as to stand with GOE at a press conference to support Petraeus on Captiol Hill, to walk with other GOE members through the halls of Congress and to hand out copies of STAND UP in the various congressional offices to encourage a vote to continue to fund the War On Terror. In addition, I was to visit the wounded Marine who at that point still lay in a coma and to worship and pray with his family in his room at Bethesda for his healing.

However, as the plane began its descent to land at Dulles airport in D.C. I felt like the Lord whispered a message to me and I wrote it down. In part it said, “You are going behind enemy lines to bring ME and MY encouragement, hope and covering (through the addition of prayer and worship to their activism) to those who tirelessly fight My fight, but in their own power. Most of these are in their own power right now. Bring them to ME. Teach them to seek, listen and rely on Me, so I can impart the strategy, the only strategy which will defeat the enemy – MINE…I will send you the prayer warriors. Link the prayer warriors – the intercessors and worshippers…wit the activists…Show them how it has always been – praisers lead into battle. Worship is rewarded by release of the supernatural strategy which WILL lead to victory.

Since that September 2007 D.C. trip, one D.C. Chapter Freeper and I have indeed prayed almost every single Friday by phone to cover planned D.C. Chapter activities for that night at Walter Reed and the weekend in prayer. We also pray regularly for the recovery of our wounded warriors and for a growing faith base in our country (because though we support our troops and those who support them, we also understand God’s overriding objective in all things on earth is to restore as many as will come back to Him for all eternity!) This young lady and I will likely continue our coast-to-coast weekly prayer. However, God has now laid on my heart that it is time to broaden the worship and prayer cover for the activities of those who support our troops, our wounded warriors, our deployed troops and their families.

I believe the many of the prayer warriors He would have participate are right here on Free Republic. I believe you will know who you are.

Please pray if you are called to join in united worship and prayer for those who support our troops and our military. (And please ‘ping’ anyone else you believe He might be calling to get involved.)

The power of our worship and prayers cannot be underestimated. Surely for those who are called it is as important as physically being present at the event. And while many of us would like to participate physically and tangibly in as many as the troop-supporting events as possible, this worship/prayer can be done anyplace, anytime – including at the events OR from home! It is vital and critical work and it is an honor to be called to it!!

As you all know, God’s first command is that we have no other gods before Him. Re-phrased, this means He commands us to worship Him alone. To worship is to bow down before something or someone because it is “worth” bowing down to. God is only One worthy of our worship. God is unchanging. How He was is how He is. He is also Truth, which by definition means He cannot lie. God promises to fulfill His promises, therefore we can expect Him to fulfill His promises for us just as He has done in every generation past, including in the stories of the Old and New Testaments. When we obey His command to worship, God promises to draw near.

Heaven is our model. In heaven, worship and intercession occur without ceasing: Angels and those who have gone before are constantly worshipping before the throne of God; Jesus is simultaneously worshipped and is interceding on our behalf at the right hand of the Father. Jesus taught us to pray: Our Father who is in heaven; holy is Your name; Your kingdom, come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

The idea is for the remnant of His faithful on earth to create an atmosphere of worship, adoration and intercession which puts Him first (thus fulfilling ‘if my people who are called by my Name will humble themselves, seek My face and pray’, then He will restore our land 2 Chron 7:13)

God and His power are inseparable. It is part of who He is. Thus where He is present, so is His power. The objective through our united worship is to cause God to release a cloud of His glory which fills the atmosphere of this country, the battlefields of the War on Terror and ultimately the world. This will enable there to be results from the work done by the activists who support our troops to confound the world’s experts. Our troops and their supporters will not only be blessed by the manifestation of God’s supernatural in unexpected ways into their natural, but – even more importantly – the reality of God will be revealed to more people as well.

Are you called to be part of this worship and prayer cover for those who support our troops? This is the initial idea of how it will look (subject to change as things develop). The thread is to be ongoing. (Is that possible? Please tell me how to do it if it is not….) Periodically, as He leads, I will post a prayer He has had me write down as I pray it. You will be ‘pinged’. You are then responsible to respond only as He leads. For instance sometimes you may post a public response (it may be as simple as ‘prayers up’ or another prayer); you may post your own prayer to the thread and ping us; you may lurk and not let anyone know you are praying but pray in one accord; you may at times be called not to participate at all. The prayers posted can be intercession – asking/beseeching for something in particular – or worship – simply adoring Him in words for who He is what He does, what He’s done and what He definitely will do. The postings can be for a particular activism event someone is aware of or in general. DO AS THE HOLY SPIRIT LEADS.

God be with all of you. I can already tell from what little I have learned about you that your hearts are most definitely for Him. May He bless you richly and use you tremendously for His kingdom work whatever that work is.

Its a little long again....but as I’ve been praying for our troops and those who support them - especially the rallies in Berkeley today, the FReep in Olney finishing up right now and the PGR planned attendance at a mortuary convention in L.A., this what the Lord led me to pray. As usual, please join in prayer as He leads....May God bless each of you, your families and loved ones richly with an increase of His presence in Your lives this Resurrection Day. And thank you, thank you for your prayers. You already know how important they are. For our Mighty Warrior King and His glory!!!

Heavenly Father, Mighty Warrior King, Lord of the Armies, Prince of Peace and Lamb of God who was crucified and rose again, opening the gates of heaven for all of us. This is earth not heaven. There has always been a price for freedom because evil exists and will always seek to dominate more and more land and hearts. None of us desire war. But if we stand idly by and let evil encroach because of our desire for peace, we will not ensure peace but eventual domination by those who seek personal gain and power over freedom of the people to be who God created them to be. The dignity of every human life must be ensured.

We have been on our knees praying, asking forgiveness for the sins of our country which over the past 40 years has begun to embrace a culture of death more than Your culture of life. We have been on our knees praying for Your mercy – that You would come with revival power, with a river of increase of Your Holy Spirit, that by Your hand in response to our prayers, You would restore the land. Lord God, You are answering our prayers and we thank You. The worship and prayers of Your faithful continues to be sweet incense to Your heavenly nostrils and You are drawing near. With You comes all that You are – all Your attributes in increase. Lord God wake the sleeping Christians. It is time to rebuild the broken down walls, dwellings and streets of our country as in Nehemiah’s time. It is time for each person to find their place on the walls for there is much work to be done and You have pre-ordained each person’s place so that every spot on the wall is manned. Lord God it is time for people to stand up, to get off couches of malcontent and complaint and to stand for Your principles, being seen and heard and making a difference until our voices are heard and our country re-built on the foundation of You.

Lord God, we thank You for each and every person already standing up and manning their place on the wall. This morning, on this prayer thread, we thank you especially for those who stand up for our troops. We stand in agreement providing prayer and worship cover for all they do, bowing before You in the full awareness of who You are and beseeching You to be with them in all they do. Let the cloud of Your glory accompany each and every troop-supporting action today. Call forth exactly those who You intended to attend these events. Give them Your Spirit and Your heart so that HOW they stand for our troops looks different than the anti-war protestors. Lord God, these say they are opposed to war in the world, however, when we look at the fruit of their root motives we do not see a people who are seeking peace. Many operate in anger, slander, accusation, hatred, bitterness and deceit. These are not fruit of Your Spirit but fruit of the opposite spirit and therefore it is not of You. Lord God, if we are to have Your covering and make impact by our standing up not only in the physical realm, but in the supernatural, eternal realm as well, if we are to have Your power in our actions (the only way progress will be made), then we must operate in a way that exhibits Your character – the fruit of Your Spirit. We must stand firm in love, in truth, in the quiet solid confidence of knowing You are Righteousness and Justice, that You are the way and fighting for freedom and dignity of the individual is part of it. So, be with those who stand for those who fight for us today. Help them to operate in the fruit of Your Spirit- love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, faithfulness and self-control by Your power even as they move by Your power to retake the land.

See our worship, hear our prayers. Be with troop supporters in their actions in Berkeley today, in Olney, in Southern California, with Vets for Freedom as they continue their National Heroes Tour across this great land…You know all the places You have called them to stand up. We pray herewith for each and every one. We pray also that they would see Your hand in how the events go today and we promise to give You the glory – to tell the story of Your provision and protection which will always exceed expectations in ways we would have never imagined.

See our obedience to Your Way and honor our ongoing worship and prayers by a mighty move of Your power, Your way in this movement in our country. We won’t tell You what this should look like because Your ways are so superior to ours. But we promise to be before Your throne day and night until the work is done.

And Lord God, special Resurrection Day blessing on each and every member of our Armed Forces and their families. By our worship and their own, increase the hedge of protection around them and the covering of Your sovereign protection. And today we ask also that You would protect, grow and deepen their marriages, help their children through the long times of separation and draw each and every one of them closer to You. Thank you for their faithfulness to Your call as they stand up for our country and the world.
The battle is Yours. God bless America. God bless our troops. God bless those who support them. In Jesus’ mighty, precious Name, Amen.
