You are being ‘pinged’ because I have seen your heart for prayer on one or more recent Free Republic prayer threads. This thread is for those interested in worshipping and praying for those who support our troops and our troops themselves. If this is of interest to you, please read on. I have only been blessed to be part of the FR community for a few months. I was drawn to get involved by the prayers I saw posted in a prayer thread for a wounded Marine last August who was not expected to survive. (BTW, he not only survived by the power of prayer, but is still recuperating.)
In September 2007 I came to Washington D.C. from my home in Northern California at the invitation of a FReeper active in the D.C. Chapter. One of the reasons I was coming was to bring a song the Lord had had me compose and record (full story at www.holyspiritpress.org/standup.html) to support our troops and encourage our nation to support them even though I am a housewife and mother – not a professional singer (you can listen to the song at www.youtube.com/user/ascendinworship )
The Lord made it clear I was to make the trip even though at the time He had not yet revealed all the reasons why. I knew I was to bring copies of the CD to give our wounded at Walter Reed, as well as to stand with GOE at a press conference to support Petraeus on Captiol Hill, to walk with other GOE members through the halls of Congress and to hand out copies of STAND UP in the various congressional offices to encourage a vote to continue to fund the War On Terror. In addition, I was to visit the wounded Marine who at that point still lay in a coma and to worship and pray with his family in his room at Bethesda for his healing.
However, as the plane began its descent to land at Dulles airport in D.C. I felt like the Lord whispered a message to me and I wrote it down. In part it said, “You are going behind enemy lines to bring ME and MY encouragement, hope and covering (through the addition of prayer and worship to their activism) to those who tirelessly fight My fight, but in their own power. Most of these are in their own power right now. Bring them to ME. Teach them to seek, listen and rely on Me, so I can impart the strategy, the only strategy which will defeat the enemy – MINE…I will send you the prayer warriors. Link the prayer warriors – the intercessors and worshippers…wit the activists…Show them how it has always been – praisers lead into battle. Worship is rewarded by release of the supernatural strategy which WILL lead to victory.
Since that September 2007 D.C. trip, one D.C. Chapter Freeper and I have indeed prayed almost every single Friday by phone to cover planned D.C. Chapter activities for that night at Walter Reed and the weekend in prayer. We also pray regularly for the recovery of our wounded warriors and for a growing faith base in our country (because though we support our troops and those who support them, we also understand God’s overriding objective in all things on earth is to restore as many as will come back to Him for all eternity!) This young lady and I will likely continue our coast-to-coast weekly prayer. However, God has now laid on my heart that it is time to broaden the worship and prayer cover for the activities of those who support our troops, our wounded warriors, our deployed troops and their families.
I believe the many of the prayer warriors He would have participate are right here on Free Republic. I believe you will know who you are.
Please pray if you are called to join in united worship and prayer for those who support our troops and our military. (And please ‘ping’ anyone else you believe He might be calling to get involved.)
The power of our worship and prayers cannot be underestimated. Surely for those who are called it is as important as physically being present at the event. And while many of us would like to participate physically and tangibly in as many as the troop-supporting events as possible, this worship/prayer can be done anyplace, anytime – including at the events OR from home! It is vital and critical work and it is an honor to be called to it!!
As you all know, God’s first command is that we have no other gods before Him. Re-phrased, this means He commands us to worship Him alone. To worship is to bow down before something or someone because it is “worth” bowing down to. God is only One worthy of our worship. God is unchanging. How He was is how He is. He is also Truth, which by definition means He cannot lie. God promises to fulfill His promises, therefore we can expect Him to fulfill His promises for us just as He has done in every generation past, including in the stories of the Old and New Testaments. When we obey His command to worship, God promises to draw near.
Heaven is our model. In heaven, worship and intercession occur without ceasing: Angels and those who have gone before are constantly worshipping before the throne of God; Jesus is simultaneously worshipped and is interceding on our behalf at the right hand of the Father. Jesus taught us to pray: Our Father who is in heaven; holy is Your name; Your kingdom, come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
The idea is for the remnant of His faithful on earth to create an atmosphere of worship, adoration and intercession which puts Him first (thus fulfilling ‘if my people who are called by my Name will humble themselves, seek My face and pray’, then He will restore our land 2 Chron 7:13)
God and His power are inseparable. It is part of who He is. Thus where He is present, so is His power. The objective through our united worship is to cause God to release a cloud of His glory which fills the atmosphere of this country, the battlefields of the War on Terror and ultimately the world. This will enable there to be results from the work done by the activists who support our troops to confound the world’s experts. Our troops and their supporters will not only be blessed by the manifestation of God’s supernatural in unexpected ways into their natural, but – even more importantly – the reality of God will be revealed to more people as well.
Are you called to be part of this worship and prayer cover for those who support our troops? This is the initial idea of how it will look (subject to change as things develop). The thread is to be ongoing. (Is that possible? Please tell me how to do it if it is not….) Periodically, as He leads, I will post a prayer He has had me write down as I pray it. You will be ‘pinged’. You are then responsible to respond only as He leads. For instance sometimes you may post a public response (it may be as simple as ‘prayers up’ or another prayer); you may post your own prayer to the thread and ping us; you may lurk and not let anyone know you are praying but pray in one accord; you may at times be called not to participate at all. The prayers posted can be intercession – asking/beseeching for something in particular – or worship – simply adoring Him in words for who He is what He does, what He’s done and what He definitely will do. The postings can be for a particular activism event someone is aware of or in general. DO AS THE HOLY SPIRIT LEADS.

God be with all of you. I can already tell from what little I have learned about you that your hearts are most definitely for Him. May He bless you richly and use you tremendously for His kingdom work whatever that work is.

Now to address the subject of the thread. I have had the war and our people who are in peril over there in my prayers for a long time, but recently other things have taken up my time and attention and I have been slack in praying for those worthy causes. This thread is a very good reminder to me that I am obligated as a Christian first and an American second to pray for our troops' safety, and also for success in their efforts to bring peace, law and order, and at least a degree of liberty and democratic governance to the long oppressed people of those Islamic nations.
If the Islamic nations we are involved with are opened up to Christian churches and Christian missionaries by our presence there perhaps enough native Muslims will come to Christ to establish a large base of churches that will spread the gospel throughout those nations, and many Muslims who are now on a straight road to eternal damnation will be saved. If that were to happen, what price can be placed on the eternal soul of just one man, woman, or child who turns from the empty trappings of a demonic false religion to the saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ?
And that's not to mention the souls of perhaps millions of people in that entire region who might possibly come under the influence of the gospel being preached and widely accepted in Iraq and Afghanistan. Who can deny that it could possibly be God's plan to have our people over there to open the way for Christian evangelization of those poor deluded Muslims who are now doomed to die in their sins unless they have their spiritual eyes opened by the Holy Spirit and can then see through the delusional nature of their pagan demonic religion and call on the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation?
Whew, talk about your over-long run-on sentences, that last one almost made me run out of breath while just silently reading it over. Anyway, thanks again for the ping, and have a blessed Lord's Day evening out there in la-la land.
Oh BTW I almost forgot, Ken has been off chemo for 2 months now and is feeling well again. His hair is even growing back and he's beginning to look a lot like my son used to look. He's due for another PET scan in early April and his doctor has submitted a letter to FAA attesting to his good state of health in hopes that he can soon resume flying again and can bring home some of that filthy lucre that his family has been doing without for almost a year now. I can never thank you enough or the others enough who prayed for what seems to be a miracle to me. Miracle or not, God heard and answered our prayers and I will be forever grateful, first to Him and then to all of you. Of course this thing isn't over yet, and won't be until 5 years have passed without a recurrence. But I have to believe that God didn't bring us this far just to let us go back over it all again. And even if He does it will be His will, and something good will come of it for someone somehow sometime somewhere.
"Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven." Mat 18:19.
I look at Ken's returning health and I see what can happen when many more than two agree, PTL!
Oh just stop it willya! You made me laugh with that outrageous comparison, the only way I could possibly compare with your beloved Pastor is that we are both males and we both love the Lord, and I'm very sure that he's far more adept at filling both of those roles than I could ever hope to be.

Thank you, Father, for a successful pro-troops demonstration today in New York. You are the Name Above All Names, even the names of socialism, secularism, communism, fascism and radical Islam. You have already conquered the world — hallelujah!
We appeal to You for our brave veterans assembling this Thursday, Friday and Saturday in and around DC. Give them hearts of serenity and calm, Lord God, to face the craven enemies of freedom dispassionately, secure in Your love, Your protection and Your plan for our nation and the world.
Stir the hearts of passersby as they see this grassroots outpouring of gratitude and reverence for our troops that the elites are too coldhearted to embrace.
Give our men and woman, we pray, traveling mercies and undergird all their practical needs for food, water, shelter, appropriate clothing and footwear, directions, transportation, pharmacy and bathroom facilities as they walk long distances in a large city.
Keep all Your sheep from harm in this outpouring of love for country, culture and our historic mandate to extend freedom’s reach to the oppressed, even in the face of violent opposition by the covetous, the amoral, the immoral, the atheist and the socialist in their midst.
Teach us to pray what you would have us pray for this and every outworking of Your will for our country, Lord.

Lord God, I echo the prayers of my fellow FReeper, Albion. Indeed You have conquered the world and we rest in Your ability to bring to pass what You purpose. Father God, we thank You for Your perfect protection and provision in New York in support of our military this weekend. We have answered our prayers and we rejoice in YOU!
Station angels now around D.C. and the surrounding areas as those who come to stand for our troops and their ability to fight for us to victory come into the area. Guardian them and keep them safe. Provide safe shelter for them and good company. For those who do not yet know you, we ask that You touch them in a special way, showing You are present and who You are.
Father God, You even love those who come so viciously and vindictively against our military. Lord God, this is not the fruit of Your Spirit. But You love these people as much as You love us. So Father God, draw them to You. Begin to open their eyes one by one that their methods are not methods of peace....it is the opposite spirit at work.
Father God, prepare the area where they and our troop supporters will stand. Though many of us cannot personally be there to worship You and give You Your due in that place, prepare this “battlefield” personally, Father God. Send Your Spirit. By Your Most Holy Spirit fill the atmosphere with all that You are, so that nothing which is not of You can stay in that place. Fill the area supernaturally with Your Peace, Your Love, Your Righteousness.
Lord God, even though all who are coming, come for a serious event - to stand up for our troops - we ask You to give them a holy lightness and joy. Let Your joy permeate the atmosphere on 3/14-3/15 wherever those who are called by Your Name to be there go. Let them be joyful by Your power and because they are confident in what You will do.
We place the events in Your hands. Do with them as You will. However knowing who and how You are, we wait in joyful expectation for news of Your sovereign care of the people who stand for our troops and their cause. You are supernatural. Reveal Yourself as such. Let all who are there know You are real and You are the one true God. In Jesus’ Mighty Name, Amen
Those headed to D.C. and the surrounding area for this weekend’s events need our prayers and worship for His power in their “boots on the ground” activities against the insurgents at home and for our troops. Let’s pray:
Mighty Warrior King, Lord of the armies, King above all kings, so humbly we come before You for You are the One True God. You are the one with ALL power. You are the One with the plan. You are Redeemer, Sanctifier, Restorer. In You alone all things live, move and have their being. You are the Lamb who was slain and Lion of Judah who rules from heaven. Your Way is Mercy and Love for all who will turn and come to You, but You are also Righteousness, Justice and the only TRUTH. Lord God we remember to You the glorious, amazing event You put together by the hands of men and women last year. We remember to You last March in D.C. when the Patriots came and stood en masse for the first time against those who would desecrate our warriors - those who have gone before and those who fight for freedom now. We remember how by Your power all were astounded by the show of support for our troops and how it surprised the enemy. Lord God, we remember to You and thank You for all that You have done since then to help the word spread of what You did and how this plus the actions of others one by one, little by little across the country (like D.C. chapter Walter Reed Friday night support gatherings, GOE on the Hill in September and the rally in Berkeley last month - to name only a FEW!) have encouraged others one by one to stand up for what is right and just, to be seen and to be heard. Father God, we remember to You how last weekend You answered all our prayers in NYC, bringing a large patriotic crowd to Times Square, bringing the media, keeping the anti-war protestors away and making the weather bearable.
Lord God, again patriots are on the move. You are calling them from all corners of this country and beyond to come and take a stand to support our military and the job they do.
Father God, dispatch Your angels to be with these men and women in their travels. Take care of their families while they are away. Bless the work of their hands in a way that provides for the expenses they will incur.
Father God, You alone know exactly what they will face when they stand against the opposition this weekend. Lord God, we do not desire confrontation, but to stand strong and firm for You and Your principles and the right of our military to fight to victory. Lord God place Your shield of protection, the shield of Your favor around all who stand up for You that the opposition may cause no harm. Lord God, place in the hearts and minds of all a desire to stand up and support our troops in a way which brings honor and to not stoop to the opposition’s tactics.
Lord God let Your Spirit hover over the gathering and all strategies of the enemy be defeated before they are launched. Lord God, place Your believers in key positions in and around our group and the opposition and around the nation so that there is a covering of worship and intercession for your warriors on the ground.
Lord God, we humbly ask for something different - if it be Your will. Lord God, if You see fit, go before these patriots and do the work like in Gideon and Jehosphat’s time - before they even enter the battle area. Lord God in EVERYTHING You seek to reveal who You are. Lord God, by HOW this weekend’s events unfold, show who You are, what power You have and how Your ways and wisdom and higher and beyond anything we can imagine. Go before these patriots and do the work so that there is an amazing story to tell which is only explainable if You are real.
Lord God, how we long for You to be revealed in this. You are supernatural, not natural. And so we boldly ask for You to reveal Yourself for who You are. Confound the wise of this world by how amazing the events of this weekend become. Show Your hand and Your presence.
In Jesus’ name, we also ask that those who belong to You, who already know You, bow heads and hearts and consecrate themselves to You and Your purposes once again before heading into this battle and that You bless their efforts as only YOu can.
The battle is Yours, oh God. We have remembered to You who You are, worshipping You as King, we have asked for Your power in the battle and now we give it all back to You and say, the battle is Yours, LOrd God. We rest completely in You, trust completely in You and wait with joyful expectation for the result - all for Your glory. In Jesus’ mighty Name, Amen.
Yes, dear God, I echo dear Pandy’s prayers as well. Lord hear our prayers and protect all of our brave troops and BLESS their families at home with Your comfort and provision. Indeed, amen and amen.
