Not only is Mormonism a Christian faith, it is the truest form of Christianity, said speaker after speaker on the first day of the 177th Semiannual LDS General Conference. LDS authorities were responding to the allegation that Mormonism isn't part of Christianity. Made by different mainline Protestant and Catholic churches and repeated constantly during coverage of Mitt Romney's presidential campaign, the claim is based on Mormonism's beliefs about God, its rejection of ancient ideas about the Trinity still widely accepted, and the LDS Church's extra-biblical scriptures. "It is not our purpose to demean any person's belief nor the doctrine of any religion," said Apostle Jeffrey R. Holland in the afternoon session. "But if one says we are not Christians because we do not hold a fourth- or fifth-century view of the Godhead, then what of those first [Christians], many of whom were eye-witnesses of the living Christ, who did not hold such a view either?"
{snip}
The day's sermons included many familiar themes, including the importance of faith, the need for pure thoughts and actions, avoiding pornography reaching out to neighbors and eliminating spiritual procrastination. Hinckley talked about the destructive nature of anger in marriages, on the road, and in life, urging Mormons to "control your tempers, to put a smile upon your faces, which will erase anger; speak with words of love and peace, appreciation and respect."
So, if we are wrong for saying we are right, by your own testimony of your own beliefs, you are wrong. You said it, not me.
Sorry; I was channeling the guy in the previous post.
No, there are not.
There are no other writings with the verified stamp of the Apostolic eyewitnesses of the resurrection.
Name even one, and quick study will easily demonstrate that you are wrong.
Trust me, if there were another known, verified book of the Apostle Peter or John just lying around in a bookcase, it would be part of the Bible.
Necessary for WHAT??
Could you channel me about a 7 pound largemouth bass this coming weekend?
:>)
There you go again - using HALF truths to besmirch our beloved Faith!
Din’t you read that “the hill OPENED”???
If GOD wants the world to see signs and wonders, HE’ll OPEN that hill again!
—MormonDude(I really DIG this religion of mine!)
Ha ha!
More SPAM in which to try to put a sliver of doubt in readers minds!
No KNOW that these guys were merely speaking as mere men in each of these instances.
Otherwise, it would be in our SCRIPTURES and we’d believe and follow them!
—MormonDude(glad for our written word)
I agree.
It's just too bad that YOU don't know where to find them!
Mr Hinkley spoke the truth and has not retracted his comments that Mormons worship and follow another, different Jesus than the one found in the Bible, procalaimed throughout history and followed by genuine Christians throughout the world. Having both studied Mormonism and taught Christology, I can tell you that he is correct in his assessment.
++++++++++++++++++++++
I agree, Even though you add a little to what he said so it is just a little different then what he really said, just a little.
The problem is, that someone has decided how THE WORD should be understood. You believe that you and yours are correct even though there are many Christians , who are not LDS, who say you are wrong.
What do you use to back up your clams that they do not? I seem to here the same words of authority from many of you.
Trust me, if there were another known, verified book of the Apostle Peter or John just lying around in a bookcase, it would be part of the Bible.

So, you would add to the bible?
That would be Galatians 5. You would also like Chapter 6.
Galatians 5
Galatians 11. Paul, an apostle, (not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead;)
2. And all the brethren which are with me, unto the churches of Galatia:
3. Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ,
4. Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:
5. To whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
6. I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
7. Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
8. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
9. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
10. For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.
11. But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man.
12. For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.
13. For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews' religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it:
14. And profited in the Jews' religion above many my equals in mine own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers.
15. But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace,
16. To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood:
17. Neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me; but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus.
18. Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter, and abode with him fifteen days.
19. But other of the apostles saw I none, save James the Lord's brother.
20. Now the things which I write unto you, behold, before God, I lie not.
21. Afterwards I came into the regions of Syria and Cilicia;
22. And was unknown by face unto the churches of Judaea which were in Christ:
23. But they had heard only, That he which persecuted us in times past now preacheth the faith which once he destroyed.
24. And they glorified God in me.
Galatians 31. O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?
2. This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
3. Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?
The bible is the verified message of the apostles.
I would certainly add an absolutely proven writing of one of the apostles to the bible. Others have argued with me over that one, but I am subject to the Apostles by instruction of Jesus Christ.
IMHO, though, such a thing will never, ever happen.
Boy you really had to twist to get THERE!
++++++++++++++++++++++++=
With all the twisted things said about Gods Church, we must twist our way through what is said, to find out why those who say The Church of Jesus Christ is wrong, are wrong.
Sounds like you are saying that those who say The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Saints is wrong because we have added to the Scriptures are wrong.
But they say they are true Christians, and you say you are a true Christian. Which is right, or are all of you wrong?
I am not saying that.
I’m saying that writings of the Apostolic Eyewitnesses who associated with Jesus in the Palestine of roughly 0-35 AD would be legitimate scripture.
Last I checked my New Testament, Joseph’s last name was not Smith.
I would certainly add an absolutely proven writing of one of the apostles to the bible. Others have argued with me over that one, but I am subject to the Apostles by instruction of Jesus Christ.
+++++++++++++++++++++++
are you now saying you did not say it?
you also said;;;;;;;;
Im saying that writings of the Apostolic Eyewitnesses who associated with Jesus in the Palestine of roughly 0-35 AD would be legitimate scripture

And what about the eyewitness who knew Marry and the Roman solider who fathered Jesus. He lived during the time of Christ and wrote just after His death.
To you, why is his first hand testimony not as true as those you choose to believe.
“Why do you use half truths? Or do you just repeat what others have said?
I’ve talked with mormons for more than 25 years - including in the Visitor’s Center in SLC. I also know the truth of the
Bible, which sheds a spotlight on all false teachings, like
mormonism - present day Arians plus enough heresies from
other cults to give it a new look.
Mormonism teaches that Jesus was created as a spirit being.
Which is a heresy. One of many.
Would you like to deny that here? There are plenty of
EX mormons here who will quote you cultic chapter and
verse...
ampu
Also, I know many ex-christens who do what you say the true ex-mormon are doing. If being an ex something is all you need to prove your “evidence” is correct, the ex-christens have a very good case why you and I are wrong.
And your point? You saw the commandment to love one another. Love is a verb. Action word. Requires action.
