It will be amusing to see James White once again demonstrate his unnatural attraction/obsession with Beckwith after the interview.

Here is Pat Madrids article about their debate. http://www.catholic.com/thisrock/1993/9310fea2.asp

And here is his blog http://www.aomin.org/

He is an anti-Catholic apologist. Since Beckwith announced his reversion he has been losing his mind about it. He comes across more like a scorned lover. It leads me to believe that he either has an unnatural obsession with Catholicism and an unnatural attraction to Beckwith.

You are talking about the Dr James White at Alpha and Omega Ministries, right? If so, you and I must be either reading different blogs, or you have an axe to grind. I have found his articles to be reasoned and balanced. Perhaps the fact that he has blistered a number of so-called Roman Catholic apologists who have now resorted to ad hominem attacks rather dealing with the issues might be swaying your judgment of him. Either way, your inuendos about unnatural attraction are a bit low.

Calling James White's approach to Catholicism "reasoned and balanced" is like calling Hillary Clinton a "moderate".

White's parents wouldn't even let their children play with Catholics when they were little. That's not "reasoned or balanced". If it were expressed against any other group, you'd justifiably call it "hatred".

As more and more evangelicals study the historic record for themselves and do not accept uncritically the simplistic “theology” of the Reformation, we will see more conversions to the Catholic Church. As those conversions multiply, more and more James White will arise to bash the Catholic Church. Unfortunately, so many protestants have constructed their personalities and identities around a hatred for Catholicism. Their unreasonableness will become more clear and even drive some of the best educated evangelicals into the arms of Holy Mother Church. Desperation becomes no Christian.

Yes. I even provided a link to his 'blog'.

If so, you and I must be either reading different blogs, or you have an axe to grind.

Or there could be a third option and he is saying what you like to read and thus you feel he is 'reasoned' and 'balanced'. He is neither reasoned nor balanced.

Perhaps the fact that he has blistered a number of so-called Roman Catholic apologists who have now resorted to ad hominem attacks rather dealing with the issues might be swaying your judgment of him.

I have only seen or heard him get the better of one Catholic Apologist and that was Tim Staples. That being said it was because he did his usual bit where when he is proven wrong he does not acknowledge the fact that he was wrong and just move on to the next 'attack'.

Either way, your inuendos about unnatural attraction are a bit low.

Not at all. He is conducting himself in his usual childish way. But this time he is acting like a scorned lover. He even starting posting in the com box on some girls blog. You could find her blog here:

http://meanderinghome.blogspot.com

Like I said, he obviously has an obsession with Catholicism. Anyone can see that. This unnatural attraction to the Frank Beckwith conversion is just plain strange.

This should be interesting. I hope I can remember to turn the radio on!

I was offered a full scholarship to Baylor, but it was during my Existentialist Period, and I thought it was too Christian. They had a good business program ... but I’d probably never have met Der Prinz!

Typical. We see a lot of that on threads posted to this forum.

I know. It is irritating to the extreme which is why I don’t blame Tim for losing his cool and why I don’t post here very often.

I got to hear most of the show while I was picking up the boys at Boy Scouts. Even extra time because Bill had to go back and clean up the parish hall with his patrol :-).

Dr. Beckwith sounded like such a nice man. I’m sure I’d have liked him when he was a Protestant, too.

Please, and don’t get me wrong, this is not anti-rcc bashing, but didn’t Beckwith say that he was not comfortable with the Marion Doctrines?

If he is not holding to these, can he be considered Roman Catholic, these being de fide?

If he did say this, it never came up in the interview. Rather, he pointed to this document, as one of the factors that started him rethinking his position on the Catholic Church. The other major contributor was reading the Early Church Fathers.
