It can be much harder to live for Christ than die for him! Death is quick, and then you're there...but life, with its trials, tribulations, wearing grind, daily challenges, and the need to be there for him isn't nearly as simple.
And that's the thing he asks most of us...I know what it's like to find out you only have the clothes on your back. That's not as hard as it seems. But to look around you and realize how you've accumulated later and see the Spirit telling you that perhaps you have a bit of a problem with accumulating things that separate you from God, now that's much harder to deal with.
Sigh.
Thank you for your encouragements!
Beautifully and faithfully stated.
"If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit." -- Gal. 5:25
Amen.
And it helps to read the directions...
That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works." -- 2 Timothy 3:16-17"All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
Scripture IS written:sola is Not...
You will find no disagreement from me or from the Catholic Church with Timothy. Neither the Church nor myself see an "Only" there.
There's a lot more Scripture supporting Sola Scriptura than the fictitious belief that one human man on earth is to be the head of the church.
The head of the church is Jesus Christ.
Alone.
"For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body." -- Ephesians 5:23
Anything else steals he glory that the Creator rightly claims for His own and gives it to the creation.
Big mistake.
Again no disagreement that Christ is the Head of the Church. The Pope is merely the Vicar here on Earth. Thou Art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church.
Somethings tells me this is a discussion that will only end on the Last Day.
God Bless You.
The only man to speak infallibly about anything is Jesus Christ.
Somethings tells me this is a discussion that will only end on the Last Day.
Maybe. But I'm a confident postmillenialist. I have faith it just might be sooner than that. 8~)
God Bless You.
God bless you, too, SATG. Aren't we Christians the most fortunate of God's creatures? His merciful grace abounds.
I will agree with that, God's Grace is an amazing blessing in our lives.
Thanks for posting the link. I look forward to reading it.
You are welcome. Have a blessed Holy Week and a Joyous Easter.
ROTFLOL!
It sure was furthering understanding when relics were brought in to replace the supernatural powers that ended after the Apostolic Era.
It sure was helpful when people were put to death, or condemned as heretics for having their own Bible.
It sure was helpful in furthering understanding when you insisted on Bibles only being in Latin and not native tongues.
Matt. 16:23 But He turned and said to Peter, "Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men."
Context is important!
Please do the same.
We call it Resurrection Sunday. :-)
Yes it is. But that statement in no way counter-acts his previous statements about/to Peter. We merely see that Peter is still human and does not think as God thinks. That is Peter's problem in 16:23. In no way does that undermine or eliminate his leadership amongst the Apostles. Context is important, in its entirety.

I'm sure you don't realize it, but your showing why Sola Scriptura is so important, rather than relying on mere men to present an unbiased view. In this case, where RC's wrongly claim Peter is the ROCK you ignore the preceding passages.
However, even your own catechism recognizes the Rock is Jesus and our salvation is based in Faith in Him as the Christ and that Peter was not the Rock but that his faith was like a rock.
424 Moved by the grace of the Holy Spirit and drawn by the Father, we believe in Jesus and confess: 'You are the Christ, the Son of the living God. On the rock of this faith confessed by St. Peter, Christ built his Church.
Also, if you read Mark 8:27-30 & Luke 9:18-20 you will find Jesus is not elevating Peter to any special status.
A tit for tat scripture reading will get us no where. I suggest Luke 22:31-34. But again, this will go no where since we strongly disagree on Sola Scripture. God Bless you and have a Blessed Holy Week and Easter.
