SHAME ON YOU!

We the undersigned denounce the release of The Da Vinci Code, which is fraught with misconceptions and blatantly false claims about the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the history of Christianity, and the Catholic Church.

We the undersigned disapprove of Sony pictures and Imagine Entertainment for producing this film and exploiting the controversy behind it for financial gain.

We the undersigned are disheartened toward Ron Howard for directing the film that is clearly offensive to Christians.

We the undersigned are disappointed in Tom Hanks for starring in a film that is an obvious affront to Christians.

With the upcoming premier of The Da Vinci Code, it is important that we band together as one voice to combat the insults to the Gospel.

Dr. Ted Baehr, founder and editor of Movieguide, and Don Feder, President of Jews Against Anti-Christian Defamation have teamed up to speak out against The Da Vinci Code. They have set up a petition for all denominations to come together and denounce the production of this movie and those associated with it.

So please, do all you can to get the word out to the faithful. Together we are one loud voice that will show Hollywood that we do not approve of the profiting of society questioning the divinity of Jesus.

Please go to www.movieguide.org and sign the petition.

Reasonable people who know who Jesus Christ is realize Da Vinci Code is a work of fiction based on a work of fiction. The book did not change their belief, and neither will the film.

All stunts like Baehr's exercise in wanton stupidity will do is draw more attention to it.

I agree, why make more of it than it is? It is a work of fiction purely for entertainmnet. Those who do not see fiction as entertainment can simply choose not to see the movie or to read the book. They will not reap the benefits of being well informed about what is out there in society.

Ya, know there is much that is offensive to Christians ... so what. You need to pick your battles wisely
It is just a movie ....

Sorry, but I'm not going to give it any more attention than it deserves, and that's all the protests and petitions are going to do.

As if the MSM isn't going to give this drek all the free publicity they could ever want. I guess it's better for Christians to remain silent in the face of attacks on our religion? Sorry, no thanks.

You should just be happy we don't start adopting the Muslim approach--which, by the way, successfully cowed their attackers and generated grovelling apologies from all sides.

Something to think about.

You pick your battles, we'll pick ours.

We've decided to fight on The Da Vinci Code. If you don't like it, tough.

I agree it's dreck; the book was boring as hell, which is not what a "thriller" should be. It was not an attack on religion, however. It was, at best, a beach book.

Just wait to see the publicity blitz that this thing is going to get from the Christian-hating media. Just wait...

Fortunately, Christians haven't been sitting on their hands while all this is going on. We're ready to refute and ready to turn this attack into an opportunity to evangelize.

If you decide to bury your talent in the ground, so be it. But I'll not laud you for it.

It was not an attack on religion, however.

Read the reviews on Amazon.com. If it wasn't meant to be an attack on Christianity, then it managed to turn a lot of people's heads around completely by accident.

Your opinion notwithstanding, the book is violently anti-Catholic. If a similar book had been written about Judaism, there would have been howls of protest--and rightly so.

As a Christian I have learned many things.

1. I don't need a shroud, a bone fragment, a grail, a cross, a crucifix, a movie or any other THING to support my faith.

2. I am not threatened by books, movies, Ouija boards, tarot cards, chicken entrails or any other thing that attacks or belittles my faith.

3. The Holy Bible is the strongest anvil ever made. It has withstood every attack from perverts, aetheists, zealots, revisionists, rationalizers, excusers, apologists, agnostics, judges and politicians and has thoroughly repelled them or bent them to its will.

4. Any works of mankind are nothing more than buggy whips in a space age.

5. The word of God is timeless.

6. I cannot comprehend people who worship Satan unless their goal is a spot in Hell that is air conditioned.

That said, will I see the movie? I read the book. I found it interesting. there was some truth to it: Jesus did live.

Movie probably says the same thing. But I can wait for the DVD and cheap popcorn at home.

After all, it's only a "What IF" story. It isn't gospel.

I think I'll just leave it there; you always seem determined to be offended, like it's a hobby, so I will leave you to it.

I'll do my protesting person to person. I had to set the Parish Youth Minister straight a few years ago when he read the book. He just thought it was SO interesting, and surmised that it could have been true. *rolls eyes* Thankfully, he's no longer in the Parish.

I'll chat with folks from the Parish who go see it to impress on them what a load of horse hockey it really is, and just how damaging a piece of fiction can be when it makes people start to wonder and doubt.

Unlike you, who is never offended--except by people who think that large families are good and that homosexual liaison's are not the same as marriages.

I'm right with you on that. Some people are better person-to-person, others at reaching large numbers of people. I'm not going to knock either side. Let's do both.
