For the Catholics on the list. For the heathen protestants, please ignore.

Catholic here! Had nuns as teachers and all that..... My knuckles were never the same. Still using the Palmer method.....
It's Lent every Friday of the year at the cafeteria where I work. Fish and pasta, never changes!
LOL!
Thanks. I'm not as religious as I should be. I need gentle reminders like this to better myself.
Well! If ya want to be discriminatory, just tell me. Don't be so subtle! :o)
LOL! Want to borrow my flame-retardant suit? ;-P
Thanks much for the ping.
Man, that's long! Sure glad I'm a Protestant! ;)
It is an old Freeper tradition to ignore a thread when asked to ignore it.
I am dutifully ignoring this thread. ;)

What a great thread! Thanks for the ping, I appreciate it.
In addition to the rules for fasting and abstinence during Lent, our family encourages everyone to give up one or two of the "little" pleasures we permit ourselves, and donate the cost as an addition to our tithe.
It can be anything we've become particularly attached to, like the mocha lattes I love, or my favorite chocolates, or our dinner out once a week...It can be small gifts of food, such as making a cake, and instead of keeping it, sharing it at work and taking none for myself.
It can be taking a dollar or two each day, and putting it in an envelope for a larger Easter morning offering...it can be using leisure for anything I've put off doing because it isn't for ME...like sewing or knitting, or buying baby gifts for new mothers in need...
And with each small sacrifice or gift, remembering to thank our Savior for HIS suffering and sacrifice, which bought me salvation...few of us in the US are chosen to stand up and give our lives for our faith...but there are a lot of ways to give our living every day, to God; Lent is a time to remember that.
Why do you use such titles?
Are you the judge?
