The WCC should welcome the PDCs. Since they have no theological grounding, these members will be easy to suck into their folds.

This is perhaps my biggest complaint about Warren and his PDC movement. They focus on meeting social needs, but theology is weak. Most of these, including ministers, if you asked them for the reasons they believe what they believe, they have no solid answer.

Can they cite verses concerning the Virgin Birth? Eternal Security? Reliabilty of the Scriptures? Salvation? THe return of Christ?

When you press them for answers, they sputter and seek to get out of the conversation calling you to narrow-minded.

Weak Christian leaders will only give birth to weak Christians. This is why most Christians cannot defend Genesis Creation and why they fall flat on their faces when they are told that the Church fought the idea of a round earth.

The megachurches expose thousands upon thousands of "unchurched" people to God's love, mercy, & grace. What a shallow thing to do....

I am not a fan of megachurches, myself. I agree that their theology is shallow.

But is that worse than a wide, deep theology that is completely wrong and will send people on the path to perdition? I refer, of course, to the liberal theology of modern main-stream Protestant churches and that of liberal Catholics. I don't know enough about the Orthodox to make a judgment, but they seem fairly sound for the most part.

I come from a conservative, evangelical background myself, and find that it satisfies my needs.

I usually don't agree with the WCC, but this time they're right!

While I dislike the WCC, in this case, they are right.

Megachurches do not allow for true doctrinal agreement on major, divisive issues in Christianity.

Only denominations do that.

It floors me how people still think of church as what happens on Sunday. Granted, what the preacher says on Sunday should be Biblically sound and accurate, but thats not where the church begins and ends. True religion/spirituality happens 24/7 - its the honest relationships that occur throughout the week, including Sunday, that make a church.

If people are looking to get all their Biblical knowledge during a one-hour sermon on Sundays, they are in trouble. More than what a WCC or a "megachurch" can offer or fix.

I've attended a number of churches in my short 30 years on this earth, and the most sound spiritual mentoring and guidance I got was at non-denominational megachurches. But thats only my anecdotal experience :-)

Where does the WCC earn the right to comment on the "depth" of any church? They have, for the most part, abandoned orthodox Christianity - in many cases denying the most basic doctrines of historic Christianity!

It's got to be the fact that we actually believe in Christ and have small group bible study and support groups. The WCC supports queers, dikes, animal lovers, gaia worship, gay marriage, gay adoption and their churches are empty. Guess WHy Bis-hop!
