LOL! The bishops are in a serious state of denial. I think even Benedict XVI disagrees with this proposition.
Makes me think of that oldies song that goes:
"...the only trouble is, Gee Wiz, I'm dreaming my life away...Dreeaammmmm, Dream, Dream, Dream, Drreeammmm!....."
Seriously, the current generation of bishops (the establishment in power, generally between 60 and 80 years of age currently) has too much invested in the liturgical "reforms" of Post-V2. We have to wait until the new generation of bishops comes to power for anything positive to result, despite having a good Poper and a few good bishops. Grand scale results will not happen under this current crop of bishops. The new generation will be able to OBJECTIVELY look at Vatican II and its aftermath and make non-emotional judgments concerning these matters.
Abolish that hand shaking nonsense during mass completely! Save it for the parking lot after mass!
Anyone who thinks Vatican II's impact was positive has rocks in his/her head.
>> I would like to see Prop. 23 implemented as soon as possible. <<
Banning bilingual education? O, not THAT Proposition 23.
"I would like to see Prop. 23 implemented as soon as possible."
It would appear that this applies only to the western church. The eastern churches have different practices. I think the Maronites do exchange the sign of peace with the congregation, but starting with the celebrants and spreading from there.
In other eastern Catholic churches, shaking hands is generally reserved for before and after Divine Liturgy. It's not part of the liturgy, except (I think) if there are co-celebrants, then the sign of peace is exchanged by them.
"The new generation will be able to OBJECTIVELY look at Vatican II and its aftermath and make non-emotional judgments concerning these matters."
The process in the eastern Catholic churches will happen a lot faster. Keep in mind that the VII document drafted for the eastern churches was drastically different than the one for the western church.
I can see how this objective review process will work out in the eastern Catholic churches: Q:"Hey, what do you think about Orientalium Ecclesiarum?" A: "We like it." (as they go back to eating pirogies) :-)
Unmentioned in the article is a proposal to use LATIN as the major language of the Mass at 'international gatherings,' with vernacular only for readings.
2-to-1 majority in favor.
Heh.
You're right. But B-16 can begin with "...over the years, there have been some beneficial effects..." and get to the "BUT" clause rather easily.
Curiously, the "peace" stuff IS rooted in the Old Rite, at the same place. However, it was restricted to far more formal and ceremonious procedures, with the greeting of peace being given to the Faithful by a sub-deacon.
There was no ambling about, nor hugs, handshakes, prattle, or la-dee-da...
That proposition gives doubt to the rest of the project.
And please...ban hand holding during The Lord's Prayer!!! I always fold my hands in prayer during The Lord's Prayer and 99.9% of the people understand that to mean that I don't want to hold their hand but the woman standing next to me tried three times to take my hand until I finally had to say NO in a fairly loud voice. What gall.
I despise that posture...especially when they all raise their hands at the conclusion, it's just ridiculous.

Vatican synod rules out married priests
Proposition 6 emphasized Eucharistic adoration, and No. 7 emphasizes the relationship between the Eucharist and confession, and underlines that "the worthy reception of the Eucharist calls for the state of grace."
**Proposition 11 addresses the challenge of the "scarcity of priests," stating that recourse to the theory of priestly ordination of "viri probati," ordaining married men, "was evaluated as a course not to be followed."
Priest promoters
The synod requests that pastors "promote priestly vocations."
In particular, it invites priests "not to be afraid to propose to youths the radicalism of following of Christ" and "to sensitize families, which is some cases are indifferent if not downright opposed" to their son following a priestly vocation.
The proposition encourages the cultivation of "prayer for vocations in all communities and ecclesial realms."**
Excellent!
