Anyone who thinks Vatican II's impact was positive has rocks in his/her head.

Curiously, the "peace" stuff IS rooted in the Old Rite, at the same place. However, it was restricted to far more formal and ceremonious procedures, with the greeting of peace being given to the Faithful by a sub-deacon.
There was no ambling about, nor hugs, handshakes, prattle, or la-dee-da...

Abolish that hand shaking nonsense during mass completely! Save it for the parking lot after mass! And please...ban hand holding during The Lord's Prayer!!! I always fold my hands in prayer during The Lord's Prayer and 99.9% of the people understand that to mean that I don't want to hold their hand but the woman standing next to me tried three times to take my hand until I finally had to say NO in a fairly loud voice. What gall.
I despise that posture...especially when they all raise their hands at the conclusion, it's just ridiculous.

I'm with you! I cringe every time the "peace" happens, since it always seems to turn into a huge touchy-feely thing that seems totally inappropriate for Mass. Takes the focus off Christ and onto ourselves.
