Makes me think of that oldies song that goes:
"...the only trouble is, Gee Wiz, I'm dreaming my life away...Dreeaammmmm, Dream, Dream, Dream, Drreeammmm!....."
Seriously, the current generation of bishops (the establishment in power, generally between 60 and 80 years of age currently) has too much invested in the liturgical "reforms" of Post-V2. We have to wait until the new generation of bishops comes to power for anything positive to result, despite having a good Poper and a few good bishops. Grand scale results will not happen under this current crop of bishops. The new generation will be able to OBJECTIVELY look at Vatican II and its aftermath and make non-emotional judgments concerning these matters.
"The new generation will be able to OBJECTIVELY look at Vatican II and its aftermath and make non-emotional judgments concerning these matters."
The process in the eastern Catholic churches will happen a lot faster. Keep in mind that the VII document drafted for the eastern churches was drastically different than the one for the western church.
I can see how this objective review process will work out in the eastern Catholic churches: Q:"Hey, what do you think about Orientalium Ecclesiarum?" A: "We like it." (as they go back to eating pirogies) :-)
