Archbishop Jan Lenga of Kazakhstan: Restore Tabernacle, Stop Communion in the Hand
Vatican Information Service ^ | 10/5/2005 | Archbishop Jan Pawel Lenga M.I.C

FOURTH GENERAL CONGREGATION

VATICAN CITY, OCT 4, 2005 (VIS) - The Fourth General Congregation of the Eleventh Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops began in the Synod Hall at 4.30 p.m. today, Tuesday. The president delegate on duty was Cardinal Juan Sandoval Iniguez, archbishop of Guadalajara, Mexico, and there were 242 Synod Fathers present.

Following are excerpts from a number of the speeches given:

ARCHBISHOP JAN PAWEL LENGA M.I.C. OF KARAGANDA, KAZAKHSTAN. "Among the liturgical innovations produced in the Western world, two in particular tend to cloud the visible aspect of the Eucharist, especially as regards its centrality and sacredness: the removal of the tabernacle from the center and the distribution of communion in the hand. ... Communion in the hand is spreading and even prevailing as being easier, as a kind of fashion. ... Therefore, I humbly propose the following practical propositions: that the Holy See issue a universal regulation establishing the official way of receiving communion as being in the mouth and kneeling; with communion in the hand to be reserved for the clergy alone. May bishops in places where communion in the hand has been introduced work with pastoral prudence to bring the faithful slowly back to the official rite of communion, valid for all local Churches."

Someone listen to this guy!!!!

Archbishop Lenga is a member of the Marians of the Immaculate Conception, a religious community founded in Poland, and famous for spreading the Divine Mercy devotion. Also, given his name, he is probably Polish.

All the good ones are stationed in the most random, far off places (Kazahkstan, Lincoln, NE, etc.) These guys need to be put into spheres of influence in prominent dioceses.

SYNOD: KAZAKH ARCH-BISHOP WANTS RETURN TO OLD-STYLE COMMUNION

(AGI) - Vatican City, Oct 5 - Martyrs to communist regimes in the 21st century in the Soviet Union and elsewhere in the world gave their lives to safeguard the Eucharistic Bread, said Kazakh arch-bishop Jan Pawel Lenga in his speech at today's Synod meeting. But, he added, it seems that their example is largely being ignored these days. "Innovation in the liturgy," he said, "is somehow overshadowing the central and holy role of Eucharist." Lenga also spoke against the "removal of tabernacles from the middle of Catholic churches to shift them to the sides, and the distribution by hand of the Holy Communion. By removing the Lord from the heart of the church," he observed, "and by distributing the communion by hand, we have increased the chance that the Host be seen as little more than ordinary bread. All this," he concluded, "plays against deep religious faith and devotion." (AGI) .

Or the Holy Father needs to start ordaining more Bishops from Poland and Slovakia. They are VERY Holy!

From HISTORY OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH IN KAZAKHSTAN

On 25 June 1995, Bishop Lenga consecrated Kazakhstan to Mary Queen of Peace at the shrine dedicated to Our Lady under this title at Oziornoje, northern Kazakhstan. This is the only Marian shrine in this part of the world. It was built as an act of thanksgiving by deported Poles who in 1941 were literally dying of hunger. A nearby lake was miraculously filled with fish and the people survived.

Our Lady is a powerful intercessor, and she always come through!

I hope to receive the Holy Eucharist from via kneeling at a Communion rail. It seems romantic in humility.

Yes!

I hope that Benedict XVI will seriously consider the Archbishop's suggestions.

Communion kneeling by mouth is not prohibited. My 72-year-old father kneels and receives Communion every day.
If you don't want Communion by hand, then don't take it by hand. It always has been an option

Communion kneeling by mouth is not prohibited.

Though it's not officially prohibited, it is definitely frowned upon in certain circles. I've read some "horror stories" concerning that.

If you don't want Communion by hand, then don't take it by hand.
If you're against abortion, then don't have one?
