Yes, it is. Hopefully they are far enough inland that it won't cause too much damange.

Prayer ping, dear friends, for those in harm's way, and those who love and care for them and who aren't but cannot do a thing but wait. And pray. And trust God.

But as for me, my prayer is to thee, O LORD.
At an acceptable time, O God,
in the abundance of thy steadfast love answer me.
With thy faithful help
rescue me
from sinking in the mire;
let me be delivered from my enemies
and from the deep waters.

Let not the flood sweep over me,
or the deep swallow me up,
or the pit close its mouth over me.
Answer me, O LORD, for thy steadfast love is good;
according to thy abundant mercy, turn to me.
Hide not thy face from thy servant;
for I am in distress, make haste to answer me.

From Psalm 69

Prayer for those in Grief and Need

There are times, Lord,
where the darkness
feels so overwhelming
that it seems like
we are in a thick fog,
even though the sun may be shining,
walking each step
through some thick liquid,
feeling our heart pound
and our mouth go dry
as the moments stretch out forever.

I know you understand it,
as you walked that long last walk
to give all for love.

Help us who are in that place this time,
with one storm still reverberating in our minds,
in the enormity of loss,
and another nearly here,
find rest in your peace,
help,
the hand that makes
getting through all this possible.

Where there needs to be shelter, Lord,
open the hearts of those who have shelter to give,
where there needs to be food,
help those who long to be liberal
to find their outlet.
Where there needs to be a shoulder to cry on,
let that shoulder appear.

O Lord,
help those of us
far away from the hurt and the pain
realize the ways we too can help,
and help all of us see
that the people caught in these storms
are not people of no matter,
but children you hold precious,
and by helping them,
it is as if we help you.

Open our eyes,
everywhere,
what it is that really matters,
this day,
and always,
Amen.

I remember
the waters there
glistened in the morning light,
whispering
of that interface between land and sea
where life clusters richly.
Ships, amd dophins and cormorants,
the gulls following the ferry.

One more trial to face in the morning.

O Blessed Mother,
be with those left behind
as the storm crashes into land,
those with nowhere to go,
nobody to take them,
those who are there to help,
those who are there to defend.

O Blessed Mother
be with those this night
tasting their fear rise,
those who fled,
those who worry,
those who care.

When the winds cease,
and the damage is tallied,
help lead them
to what really matters,
and may we,
untouched by the wind and the water
be anxious to be the hands
to do the will of a loving God.

Dear Friends, on this Friday, as the storm draws near, let us especially remember those who are staying, sometimes beause it is just too hard to leave, or because they are needed for emergency work, or for all the other reasons people remain in the path of a storm. Some of these are FReepers, some of these are our loved ones. May God send his angels to keep them safe.

O Lord,
In the darkness of our fears,
we turn to you,
you, who are our beacon
while the storm roars
and the darkness threatens.

O Lord,
when the storm breaks,
and the dawn comes,
and we view what we have lost,
and the fear
turns to grief,
anger,
the longing to punish,
be with us still,
may we cling to you
instead of shut you out
in our hurt.

Amen.

Our Lady of Prompt Succor,
quick and sure aid in our need,
How often you have been there to aid us
in the storms of our lives,
how often,
O Mary most holy,
have you reached out with a mother's touch
to shield us from danger,
to nudge us back home,
to bring us back to the foot of the cross,
to your son,
remember this day
all those in life's danger,
all those threatened by the storms
both of nature,
and of situation,
of anger
of other's ill will
and be there
with your smiling touch
to lead them to safety.

Our Lady of Prompt Succor, pray for us
Our Lady of Prompt Succor, pray for us
Our Lady of Prompt Succor, pray for us.

O my Jesus,
While hanging on the cross, near the end of your life, you gave us your mother to be our mother. Thank you Lord, for sharing such a precious gift with us, who are not worthy of it. May it please you to listen to the prayers and concerns we share with her, and in your mercy, hear and answer us, and may we always follow her advice to do whatever you say.

Amen.

O Lord,
You who lift us up
in our time of need,
holding us tenderly
in the palm of your hand
like a parent
cradling his newborn child,
even when things seem darkest,
even when we do not see you,
even when we feel most lost and alone.

Help us to see you standing by us,
to feel the peace of your presence,
and to rest secure in the knowlege
that we are in your hands,
and may we remember you
all the days of our lives.
Amen.

Still prayiing, KAC. Just read where one of the buses that was in the convoy caught fire just southeast of Dallas (reported probably brakes). It was carrying elderly patients from a nursing home in Bellaire Oxygen tanks expoded...reportedly 24 dead, but could change.

Tears and prayers for all involved, and for their families.
May God bless, guide, protect, and keep us beneath the shelter of His wing.

'Til The Storm Passes By

In the dark of the midnight
I have oft hid my face
While the storm howls above me,
and there's no hiding place.
'Mid the crash of the thunder,
Precious Lord,hear my cry;
Keep me safe 'til the storm passes by.

Refrain:
'Til the storm passes over
'Til the thunder sounds no more,
'Til the clouds roll forever from the sky.
Hold me fast, let me stand,
In the hollow of Thy hand.
Keep me safe 'til the storm passes by.

Many times Satan whispered,
"There is no need to try,
For there's no end to sorrow,
There's no hope by and by."
But, I know Thou art with me,
And tomorrow I'll rise
Where the storms never darken the skies.

Refrain:
'Til the storm passes over
'Til the thunder sounds no more,
'Til the clouds roll forever from the sky.
Hold me fast, let me stand,
In the hollow of Thy hand.
Keep me safe 'til the storm passes by.

When the long night has ended
And the storms come no more,
Let me stand in Thy presence
On that bright, peaceful shore.
In that land where the tempest
Never comes. Lord, may I
Dwell with Thee when the storm passes by.

Refrain:
'Til the storm passes over
'Til the thunder sounds no more,
'Til the clouds roll forever from the sky.
Hold me fast, let me stand,
In the hollow of Thy hand.
Keep me safe 'til the storm passes by.

You expired, Jesus,
upon the cross
in pain for all to see,
But in your death,
the source of life gushed forth for souls,
that wondrous fountain
springing forth
like the blood and water that poured from your side,
an ocean of mercy that opened up for the whole world.
O Jesus,
Divine Mercy,
O Fount ot Life,
Remember this day
those in harm's way from the storm,
and pour out your mercy upon them,
and may we who are called
to love and be the channels of your mercy on Earth,
respond with eager hands and open heart.

Amen.

I know this is a little off-topic, but I just received word from a good friend of mine who is from Pass Christian, MS. She is in Indianapolis with her husband and their son (we know them from my husband's Navy days), but her email to me was basically just the message 'Our house is gone.'

Please pray for Chad, Donna, and little Blake as they recover their lives from this loss.

That's hard. I have family members (one of my brother's stepdaughters and many members of my sil family) who were flooded out. But having your family's house wiped out has to be soo traumatic.

Lord have mercy,
Christ have mercy,
Lord have mercy.

So many Lord, hurt, and lost, and who have been so injured by the last storm, and so many in danger from this. Help us, O Lord, in the hard days ahead, be with those who have lost their homes, their loved ones, their past lifes and livelyhoods, and all the little things that make us comfortable and secure.

Strengthen us against the grief and depression and anger and nihilism that can come from great tragedies, and teach us to know what really matters. And, if possible, smooth the way for those who need help most.

This we ask in the name of Jesus our Lord,
Amen.

Hail Holy Queen, mother of mercy, our life, our sweetness, our hope.
To you do we cry, poor banished children of Eve.
To you do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.
Turn then, most gracious advocate, your eyes of mercy toward us, and after this, our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of your womb, Jesus.
O clement! O loving! O sweet Virgin Mary!

Pray for us, holy Mother of God, That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Amen.

To: trussell; Salvation; NYer; little jeremiah; ClancyJ; k2blader; Smokin' Joe; oceanperch; ...

Some went down to the sea in ships,
doing business on the great waters;
they saw the deeds of the LORD,
his wondrous works in the deep.
For he commanded, and raised the stormy wind,
which lifted up the waves of the sea.

They mounted up to heaven, they went down to the depths;
their courage melted away in their evil plight;
they reeled and staggered like drunken men,
and were at their wits' end.

Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble,
and he delivered them from their distress;
he made the storm be still,
and the waves of the sea were hushed.

Then they were glad because they had quiet,
and he brought them to their desired haven.
Let them thank the LORD for his steadfast love,
for his wonderful works to the sons of men!

From Psalm 107

O God, present in every place, look down with mercy on those whom we love, now in danger of the storm, those we know, those who need your special care. Give your angels charge over them, and defend them from all danagers of body and soul, wind, sea and the fatigue of being refugees. Bring us together again, if it is your will. Grant that we, drawing nearer to you, may draw nearer to one another, and truly come to see how we are all beloved children of a loving God, even when times seem dark. Lord, may we all be brought at the end into your presence, where we may rejoice together in our heavenly home. Through Christ Jesus our Lord, Amen.
