This is probably the first time I have ever linked to something like this--but this is an online denominational selector quiz that purports to help the user discern which Christian traditions most accord with his or her beliefs. As the quiz designer says, "Many of these are vast oversimplifications, and it is very hard to set options when there are often many differing views even within certain denominations." Therefore this quiz is hardly infallible, but I do think it is one of the better ones I've seen online. Try it out and see where you come out in its analysis.
My own rankings are:
Rank Item Percent
1: Eastern Orthodox (100%)
2: Anglican/Episcopal/Church of England (95%)
3: Presbyterian/Reformed (95%)
4: Lutheran (79%)
5: Roman Catholic (79%)
6: Congregational/United Church of Christ (72%)
7: Baptist (Reformed/Particular/Calvinistic) (64%)
8: Church of Christ/Campbellite (40%)
9: Baptist (non-Calvinistic)/Plymouth Brethren/Fundamentalist (29%)
10: Seventh-Day Adventist (22%)
11: Methodist/Wesleyan/Nazarene (20%)
12: Pentecostal/Charismatic/Assemblies of God (20%)
13: Anabaptist (Mennonite/Quaker etc.) (14%)
While I am a bit puzzled as to the Eastern Orthodox score, I think for the most part these rankings are reasonably accurate for me. I think that in all probability the Eastern Orthodox score was so high at least in part due to the question on church government, and the question on Scripture and Tradition.
I took it again, and this time, I totally "went with my gut," instead of thinking about what my teaching has been. I'm still EO, but the Lutheranism isn't quite so strong. Eeps! Now I'm 20% SDA--must be my arms.
See, you really are hanging around with an other worldly crowd (or maybe strange crowd)!
LOL! But one thing I've noticed is that since I've been talking with you, Sionnsar, Agrarian, et al., I've been much calmer--and I never look for trolls anymore. What are you doing to me?

Your top rankings are Orthodox, Anglican/Episcopal and Roman Catholic. Put them altogether and you should explore the Eastern Catholic Churches, which are not factored into this quiz. ;-D

Did you ever think of going into sales? :)
What she means, sionnsar, is that you should look at the Melkites or the Maronites, not those guys in Eastern Europe, right NYer? ;)
Its the incense you've been smelling. Did we neglect to tell you what we put in that stuff???

I am guessing that the author of the "Online Denominational Selector" based his questions and answers on the official doctrines of each church or denominations. To do this right, one would devise a good questionnaire, then use it to survey a suitable sample of people belonging to each denomination. From their responses, it would be possible to obtain a profile of each denomination.
Oh, so that explains why my kids sleep in the car all the way home ;>) Max insisted that we buy some of the incense, so now we get our daily quota of it!
Feed the kids some garlic to round out the aroma and people will think they're Greeks!

Hey, I resemble that remark!
LOL! Pretty soon I'll having them eating grape leaves and ground lamb!
Here also. Some of the questions--and some of the answers--were poorly put.
Rev, if you knew the old ladies at church and my aunts in the old country, you'd understand. I'll bet the image of a wooden spoon doesn't strike at all the same kind of terror in your mind that it does in mine! :)
Where does "Love G-d and Love one another as you would love yourself" put me?
Well, not really. Try as I might, I still can't figure out what it takes to be a Seventh Day Adventist. And Eastern Orthodox was a challenge because I couldn't find the word "filique" anywhere.
