Let me put something out there to ponder regarding Jesus Christ - WHO WAS HE? - He was born of the virgin Maya, who was considered the "Queen of Heaven. He was of royal descent. He crushed a serpent's head. - He performed miracles and wonders, healed the sick, fed 500 men from a "small basket of cakes," and walked on water. - He abolished idolatry, was a "sower of the word," and preached "the establishment of a kingdom of righteousness." - He taught chastity, temperance, tolerance, compassion, love, and the equality of all. - He was transfigured on a mount.
- He was crucified in a sin-atonement, suffered for three days in hell, and was resurrected. - He ascended to "heaven."
HE WAS...BUDDHA
WHO WAS HE? He contributed the name of Jesus Christ. He and his once-and-future Father, are frequently interchangeable in the mythos ("I and my Father are one"). - He was born of the virgin Meri on December 25th in a cave/manger, with his birth being announced by a star in the East and attended by three wise men. - He was a child teacher in the Temple and was baptized when he was 30 years old. He was also baptized by "Anup the Baptizer," who becomes "John the Baptist." - He had 12 disciples.
- He performed miracles and raised one man, el-Azar-us, from the dead.
- He walked on water.
- He was transfigured on the Mount.
- He was crucified, buried in a tomb and resurrected.
- He was also the "Way, the Truth, the Light, the Messiah, God's Anointed Son, the Son of Man, the Good Shepherd, the Lamb of God, the Word" etc. - He was "the Fisher," and was associated with the Lamb, Lion and Fish.
- His personal epithet was "Iusa," the "ever-becoming son" of "Ptah," the "Father." - HE was called "the KRST," or "Anointed One," long before the Christians duplicated the story. - In the catacombs at Rome are pictures of Him as a baby being held by his virgin mother. HE WAS... the Egyptian God HORUS
(The ancient Egyptians also adopted the cross as a religious symbol of their pagan gods. Countless Egyptians drawings depict themselves holding crosses in their hands. Among them, the Egyptian savior Horus is depicted holding a cross in his hand. He is also depicted as an infant sitting on his mother's knee with a cross on the seat they occupy. The most common of the crosses used by these pagan Egyptians, the crux ansata, was later adopted by the Christians)

- His sacred day was Sunday, "the Lord's Day," hundreds of years before the appearance of Christ. - He had his principal festival on what was later to become Easter, at which time he was resurrected. - His religion had a Eucharist or "Lord's Supper." HE WAS... MITHRA "He who will not eat of my body and drink of my blood, so that he will be made on with me and I with him, the same shall not know salvation." An inscription to Mithras which parallels John 6:53-54. This inscription is inside the vatican... in the tomb of saint peter.)

HE WAS... KRISHNA (The similarities between the Christian character and the Indian messiah are many. Indeed, Massey finds over 100 similarities between the Hindu and Christian saviors, and Graves, who includes the various noncanonical gospels in his analysis, lists over 300 likenesses. It should be noted that a common earlier English spelling of Krishna was "Christna," which reveals its relation to '"Christ." It should also be noted that, like the Jewish godman, many people have believed in a historical, carnalized Krishna)

HE WAS... OSIRIS-DIONYSUS
There are eight religions with stories of a world savior, born of a virgin, associated with a cross, which dies and is resurrected. There are five of them here. There is also Quetzlcoatl of Mexico, Odin of Norse mythology, and Attis of Anatolian Turkey. Who knows, maybe there are more, but no one ever wrote them down. Talk about a universal archetype!
What sort of dung is this?
Maya, Meri???
All the same. Kabbalah's Adam Kadmon. The son of man. Adam. The story of each has the same message...God is within in you and selfishness(sin) seperates you from Him. Universal Love(God)is what you must find within to free you from the chains of (selfishness) sin. The Kingdom of heaven is at hand. It is likened unto a mustard seed, which though it is small, if you plant it, it will grow into the largest tree and all the birds will make a nest in it. Spread the seed of love!
The Buddha wasn't crucified, and 'maya' isn't a woman's name but the Sanskrit word for 'illusion'.
Someone gets this thread!
But how can we be separated from God? God is everywhere. There is no spot where God is not.
"There is no sin but error, no punishment but consequence." -- Dr. Ernest Holmes.
Someone gets this thread!
Not agreeing with it isn't the same as not getting it.
There is one Jesus Christ and many pretenders to the throne... and He loves us all...even the really really misguided ones..
The only devil that mankind needs to worry about is the himself. The only hell to fear is the one you put yourself through. To ignore God(love)and worship the self(satan, money, greed, power) is the absence of God(hell). God is not everywhere in the sense that He is not in your heart unless you seek for Him there. If you seek you shall find. It is called freewill. He departs from the wicked.
God loves us and wants us to be with Him. But there are those people who reject God, and He is merciful enough to make allowances, even for them. Hence, there is a place where God is not. That place is Hell, and that is where people can go if they wish to reject God. This is permitted through our own Free Will and from the mercy of God.
Is His love and mercy limitless to All? Is His forgiveness universal? I would never eternally punish my son no matter what he did, How much more God must love His children? I believe God is ALL merciful and ALL patient with His children. Perhaps he allows us many chances, and many lives to figure things out. Like this is a school and one day we graduate.
Being Just and being merciful at the same time is an oxymoron.
I completely agree with your entire statement. Hell is the absence of God. God could not look down into hell and watch his creation eternally punished without being saddened. Otherwise he would be merciless, and without love. Being just and merciful at the same time is an oxymoron. I can't imagine an ALL merciful God eternally punishing his own creations without being eternally mourning for their loss.
" Spread the seed of love!"
Naaa. I'd rather hate and kill those who I can't force my beliefs upon.

Thanks, now i am hungry!
Those who have done their homework into the historocity of the Gospel accounts and the Scriptures in general know the difference between them and pagan mythology. The former are reliable historical accounts that have held up under intense scholarly scrutiny for many centuries. The latter, whatever elements of truth they may hold buried in the symbolic details, do not.
Big difference.
Some mythology
is much more complicated

The Parthenon Code: Mankind's History in Marble
Publisher's summary: "The events of Eden were part of the Greeks' collective cultural memory, and their special interpretation of those events made up the very basis of their religious system. Greek myth/art is human history. The Book of Genesis is human history. While the viewpoints of each are opposite, the recounted events match each other in convincing detail."
This was posted by the devil.
The devil knows how to mix some truth with some lie to make a mix of misleading Foo Foo.
There are many similarities to the story of genesis and the creation story of the Assyrians and mesopotamians, who historians believe were some of the first civilizations to come about. Mesopotamia is also where many think the garden of Eden was.
