ASIAN TSUNAMI WAS PRECEDED BY PROPHECY AND FOLLOWED BY REPORTS OF MIRACLES

See Explanation. Clicking on the picture will download
the highest resolution version available. In the gloom -- and it is gloom -- come the accounts of miracles. A missionary escaping the tsunami with thirty students calls out the Name of Jesus as a wave sweeps into a lagoon and the wave seems to halt. This in Navalady, Sri Lanka.

There is also the young American couple at a beach in southern Thailand. Clinging to a jungle gym under a thatched roof in a play area, the man shouted prayers amid the flooding. The thatched roof lodged against the jungle gym, and they were sheltered as the last, biggest wave swept ten feet over their heads -- without touching them! "We miraculously didn't get hit," said Patrick Green

And then there is the Marian apparition shrine of Vailankanni in India. It had been established after a peasant boy saw the Blessed Mother there in the 1500s. During the following century, a group of Portuguese sailors got caught in a Bay of Bengal storm and pleaded with her as Mary of the Sea. The sea calmed during what was probably a cyclone and they landed at Vailankanni on September 8 -- feast of her nativity -- replacing a chapel with a stone building.

During the recent tsunami, Mary calmed the seas there once more. In a December 29 statement, basilica officials noted that about 2,000 pilgrims attending Mass were "miraculously saved" when the surging waves of the historic tsunami stopped at the gates of the shrine compound, which is near a devastated beach.

The waves -- rising as high as forty feet -- smashed hotels and homes on the same elevation [see this story]!

Then there is the prophecy. As with September 11 (which is now dwarfed by this episode), there seemed to be forewarnings. Famously, Catholic seer Maria Esperanza declared that 2004 would be a special year, with both rays of heavenly light and the beginning of a run of natural disturbances. She had also seen the earth's core as "out of balance."

Esperanza already seemed on the mark with the extraordinary typhoons, climate patterns, and hurricanes of 2004, but it was the very last week of the year -- its waning moment -- when the prophetic hit seemed more like a bull's eye.

Another well-known seer from Ireland has long prophesied weather disruptions, tidal waves, and quakes, and has mentioned the earth's axis.

So did former nightclub owner Ned Dougherty, who "saw" terrorist attacks in Washington and New York long before 9/11 and allegedly was also shown tidal waves during a famous near-death experience. He has expressed repeated concerns in recent weeks about a tsunami in the Atlantic; one warning came days before the Asian event, on December 24. "A shifting of the earth's axis will create dramatic climactic changes and possibly result in massive earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and huge tidal waves on both the East and West coasts of the United States as well as around the world," he wrote in Fast Lane To Heaven. Now he says, "I am quite certain that a U.S. eastern seaboard tidal wave-tsunami is imminent."

Whatever is coming (and we have to be very careful with such things), prophecy is no longer readily dismissed. A survey by The Christian Science Monitor even before the tsunami indicates that 59 percent of Americans believe events prophesied in Scripture will occur in the near future.

Meanwhile, prominent bishops and rabbis alike are saying we should see warnings in these events.

Viewers wrote in about their own "prompting" in the spirit. Some felt a coming quake. Or they envisioned water.

Wrote one viewer from Miami: "Last week my mother had a vision of a red sea engulfing many lands. Today (12/29) a co-worker was surprised at a strange red sky. Our Church is agonizing. Our Lord is sad. At three I went to visit Him for an hour in the Blessed Sacrament. I prayed to Him asking for guidance. The response that came to my heart is that the illumination will be coming soon."

Again: for your discernment. If nothing else, the tsunami has created a clarion alarm.

"Jesus told me that the world is in great danger," wrote another viewer. "People must turn away from material things and amend their lives."

The same is true among Protestants. One had a vision that foresaw approaching judgments specifically for Indonesia, describing the ground shaking and "every eye looking toward the coast" -- where there was a small ripple followed by one that was larger, then another, and another. That was announced last November!

In recent years in Java, Indonesia, a black smoky cloud, allegedly resembling the head of Jesus has appeared over a local house and reportedly settled over the nearby church. Local Christians hailed the apparition as a miracle and thousands went on pilgrimage to the church, according to reports. A sign of the times?

On a prominent conservative political site, Free Republic, meantime, was this dire blog-note.

"I was told the following account this morning 12/31/04, by a close personal friend who works with the priest mentioned below," it claimed. "I offer this solely for the discernment of fellow Catholics, and I'm hoping for further verification of this story. I have met the priest who related this story. He is known in the USA and Rome. According to this priest, an American woman, a Roman Catholic (who is not publicly known, she is a housewife and lives in the Midwest USA) was extremely upset two weeks prior to the recent Asian earthquake and tsunamis. The priest who related this story was aware of her fears prior to the events this past week and therefore believes her to have some legitimacy. According to this priest, this woman 'knew' that a massive earthquake and tsunamis were going to strike in Southeast Asia two weeks prior to the event. She was so distraught that she pleaded to be taken to Rome to see the Pope to warn him of the impending disaster in Asia. She was taken to Rome, but I'm not sure from what I was told whether she was able to meet with him. This priest is also aware of what she has seen coming for America. He said it was so horrific that he would not discuss it further. He simply said, 'Be ready to go at any moment.' I believe he would not have related these issues if he had not personally known that she had foreknowledge of the recent quake and tsunamis. Again, I offer this solely for the discernment of fellow Catholics. I'm hoping for further verification of this story, or refutation of same."

Is that really true? Is it really that dismal? We must be careful. The devil tries to frighten us. At the same time, it's difficult to deny what is occurring around us. Alleged Protestant prophet Susan Cummings, --whose striking visions of last summer's hurricanes were also posted before they struck -- issued a prophecy last autumn that saw a final warning to mankind. We take it into prayerful reflection.

"Now the time has come and gone," Cummings said, quoting the Lord. "I showed My prophets the new day that they have now entered. I made them cry out and warn the people of their choices, and the reaping of those choices. But did any listen to My prophets? Did any humble themselves or despise their sins? No, they cast aside My prophets and told them to be silent, and discredited them. Those found rooted and ground in Me, in this hour, will be sheltered from the waves and the purging that will scourge this land. For though the waves beat upon My house, it will surely stand, and all founded in Me will stand with Me till the end. The waves have begun."

That was on November 21. We place this up for discernment, remembering that God is still and always with us -- that events may be mitigated or prevented altogether. Let us note that America is a Christian nation and that there is tremendous protection in that. Incredibly, the death toll from four ferocious hurricanes last summer, by most counts, was less than 150. But there now appears to be an urgent need for more prayer.

Let us repeat: these are reports for discernment only. Internet rumor can be just that. There are "urban legends." There are hoaxes. But, often, there is also a kernel of truth, and we are not to despise prophecy. In fact, Scripture tells us to seek it. We are to test the spirits, keeping only what is true and remembering that we are in special times. We are in miraculous times.

In special times we are to grow closer to Him. When we do, fear vanishes.

Whatever comes, comes and you have no more ability to stop it than a person standing in front of a freight train can.

The Marians of the Immaculate Conception would tell you different. A key point in Saint Faustina's life was when she was given the Divine Mercy Chaplet.

She was able to see the Angel of Chastisement made helpless when she prayed this -- the Angel of Chastisement was going to strike a city, and could not.

And that is based on the Mercy of God, which is why it is called Chaplet of Divine Mercy. The Chaplet reflects on the Passion of Christ and when the Father reflects on the sufferings of the Son for the world, God may be convinced to have a change of heart of about things.

In scripture, it is the Wedding Feast of Cana that is the prime example. Jesus told His mother that it was not His time. But He still performed a miracle.

Finally, the Judeo-Christian tradition has the Passover, where the Angel of Death passes over the Jewish families, but strikes down the Egyptian families.

The Egyptians were blind to God, the Jews turned to God and pleaded for help. God sent Moses to lead them out of slavery.

"And I think it is extremely revealing that FR is on a "spiritdaily" page."

It is interesting! Thank you for posting this article. I suspect the anonymous prophecy is from someone well known in certain Catholic circles but in a monastery or cloister.

Most interesting. A lot of Christians in the US have reported promptings by the Holy Spirit to pray earnestly for those who need to be saved and have their lives turned around. The time is now.

Revealing that spirit daily would be monitoring a religion forum on a Republican website.

It made me stop and ask why?

Still don't have an answer -- so maybe I meant that it was noteworthy that FR was mentioned on a SpiritDaily page.

I thank you too, Salvation. I've read your posts here regularly, and I know you have a good heart. God bless you.

I guess some people can't just politely disagree, they have to deride one's Faith. Guess because it makes them feel less guilty about the way they live their lives.

Live each day like it's your last.

Salvation..thank you for posting this.

Some may be fearful of these prophecies, others don't want to hear it because they don't want to admit that our world is in dire straits. Anyone who looks at these prophecies should recognize the call to repentance and evangelism. I believe God is rallying his team to say "Get to work...be salt to the earth...let your light shine for all to see...return to me and share your faith with others"

If there is a fire in the theater, don't be upset when the alarm goes off. There are lots of signs that show God's displeasure in our society. If we close our minds and hearts to these signs, we are fools.

Another article from Spirit Daily

ASIAN CALAMITY MAY LINK TO EVIL THERE BUT ALSO STANDS AS WARNING TO WHOLE WORLD

There are two extremes in Christianity, when it comes to the prophetic: those who accept virtually nothing in this realm, and nothing as a sign of the time (many in the "mainstream" religious media reside here), and those who interpret every event as a harbinger of the end times.

Obviously, both sides have their points, although we certainly lean toward those who sense the spiritual dimension to what is afoot in the world.

The tsunami was a huge sign of the times, a graduation of events that have been intensifying for more than a decade.

But what does it mean? How do we interpret it? And stickiest of all: does God really use such events to punish?

Certainly, God does punish. The Old Testament is absolutely filled with cases whereby natural disasters were used for Divine chastisement. To think otherwise is heretical. But perhaps we can also view matters not so much as God punishing those victims specifically, as the fact that when sin builds in the world, it puts the world out of order. It causes an actual darkness that can physically (and geologically) manifest. Events come almost as a release of that dark tension.

God allows it. The good suffer with the evil. There are victim souls and always have been.

We see the truly heart-breaking images of good people in those nations struck by the tsunami and it's hard to imagine that they themselves -- these poor mothers grieving over lost children -- did anything to deserve such agony.

These are people in need of our deepest prayers (and if we can do so, our financial support). It is time to show solidarity with Asian Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, and Hindus as children of the One True God. It is time to love them.

Perhaps they serve as victim souls to warn the entire world of the global darkness, or perhaps they are the victims of evil that opened the door to disaster -- that caused the region to be susceptible.

It is peculiar that Indonesia, India, Thailand, and Bangladesh are often specifically cited for the commercial sexual exploitation of children, including the prostitution of children, child pornography and trafficking of children for sexual purposes. Jakarta's Chinatown district is considered to be one of the largest pornographic bazaars in Southeast Asia. There are other areas in the same region, not to mention elsewhere in the world, that do the same.

But the problem is especially acute here, and such evil has repercussions. It is joined by transgression in the way of persecution: Eight of the eleven afflicted countries are among the top fifty that persecute Christians, with Maldives, Myanmar, and Indonesia ranking on certain "top tens." Some years Indonesia will see sixty or more attacks on Christian churches by fanatical Muslims in a single year.

Again, these are the not people you see; these are not the grieving mothers in those oceanside hamlets, those places that have been destroyed. They are not the ones, for the most part, who purvey pornography.

But did evil open the door? And was there less protection because of the rampant idolatry? Was it a problem that in many of these areas dozens of "gods" are worshipped, including idols right out of the Old Testament?

Israel's Chief Rabbi Shlomo Amar commented on the catastrophe last week saying "God is angry" and "we must pray more and ask for mercy." In comments to the Ynet website, he said: "The nations of the world are obligated to observe the seven Noahide laws, such as prohibitions against murder and illicit (sexual) relations... The deaths are very painful."

The Catholic Bishop of Port Blair in the Andaman Islands of India, Alex Dias, told the media, "I believe that the tsunami is a warning. A warning from God to reflect deeply on the way we lead our lives." Bishop Dias, who is leading the main relief effort in the area, continued, "We are too hurried today. We are rushing here, rushing there. Everything is a façade. There are lots of cracks and undulating things in our lives. A disaster like this is a word from God to think about those cracks and smoothen them out. We are filling our lives with so much that there is little place for God." He concluded, "In moments of grave crisis, we remember God and we should also think how to put him back in the primary position in our lives."

The Anglican Dean of Sydney, Phillip Jensen, said the disasters were a warning from God that judgment was imminent. The statement was backed by South Sydney Anglican Bishop Robert Forsyth who said Jesus Christ used the example of disasters to bring people to God. "Without explaining the disaster, even Jesus drew peoples' attention to let the disasters be a warning to them of their own mortality and their need to be right with God," Bishop Forsyth said. "So at this point the Dean's point is echoing the point of Jesus."

What does it all reduce to?

As Lifesite, a pro-life website, has pointed out, "The Gospel of Luke at chapter 13, Jesus himself spoke of a disaster, noting that those who perished were not more evil than others, but that it was a warning for all to repent. 'Or those eighteen upon whom the tower fell in Siloe, and slew them: think you, that they also were debtors above all the men that dwelt in Jerusalem? No, I say to you; but except you do penance, you shall all likewise perish.'"

The following was sent to Robert Moynihan of "Inside the Vatican":

Dear Mr Moynihan,

I refer to an article “The Prophecy of St Nilus” which, I am told, appears in the October 2004 issue of “Inside the Vatican.”

Your website and some other Catholic websites allege that the author was the fifth century, St Nilus of Sinai, disciple of St John Chrysostom, died c. 430 AD. There is an entry in the c. 1912 Catholic Encyclopedia on this saint - but, there is no mention of any prophecies. In fact, in the ultimate paragraph it states that some of his alleged works were "spurious."

On the other hand, I have come across several Orthodox websites who quote the (almost) exact prophecy but attribute the prophecy to

1. St Nilus the Myrrhstreamer of Mt Athos (d. 1651?) a 17th century saint - http://www.oneearthasinheaven.com/nilus.html

2. Same as above at http://members.cox.net/orthodocheritage/St%20Nilus.htm and

3. An Australian website at http://home.it.net.au/~jgrapsas/pages/Prophecy.htm
Quoting St Nilus (14th Century). This entry has a few additions such as "...in three hypostases (Father, Son and Holy Spirit)" and "...and his servants."

Throughout history there have been many Sainst “Nilus”. However, I have been, thus far, unable to reconcile the entries - first as to which Saint, which Century and, more importantly, the original source document from which the "prophecy" allegedly originates. Obviously, someone is wrong. I suspect that the Orthodox is correct - but it also remains unsourced.

Can you please help me on this one by providing evidence that it is from a fifth Century original document?

Mr Moynihan replies that he "would check it out."

The facts are that the alleged prophecy refers to "after the yearv 1900, etc." The facts are that IF the (as we now know it) 4th century St Nilus WAS the author - he would NOT have used that expression - for the calendar (as we know it) was not thought of as "AD" until more than 100 years after the death of that ST Nilus; and not more fully acted upon until the time of St Bede in the 8th century.

The prophecy of St Nilus the Myrrhstreamer (of Mt Athos), 17th century - is regarded by the Orthodox as referring to the post 1917 subjection by the Communists!

I am afraid that "someone" appears to have invented the Prophecy to suit their agenda.

To: Salvation; All

Goodness! I just saw this scrolling back through . . . THANKS. Most interesting. Praise God for HIS FAITHFULNESS.

Here's another doc of merit . . . .

THE FOLLOWING is probably THE BEST essay/piece I've read about the Tsunami vis a vis God vs satan having to do with the event.

Regarding The Dec 26 Tsunami

Teresa Seputis

It was only 5 PM on Christmas Day where I live. It was 6:30 in the morning the day after Christmas for the people in India. It was 7 or 8 in that same morning for most of the rest of the places that were effected by the Tsunami that devastated southern Asia. It took about 12 hours for the news of this terrible disaster to travel throughout the world. Over 22,000 people are reported dead and the death toll is expected to climb even higher than that.

And people are asking "Why did this happen?" Christians around the world cannot help but notice how near this disaster was to Christmas Day and that the people effected by this were mostly idol worshippers. And some have wondered if this was some type of judgment of God against idolatry. In fact, that question ran briefly through my own mind as I got past the initial shock of the terrible news. I found myself asking God -- "was this a judgment or was it an attack of the enemy or what?"

It took about an hour before I was able to hear God's answer to my question. I think the delay was because this sad news hit me very hard, as I have close ties to the area. I have flown in/out of Chennai (a.k.a. Madras) many times. The state of Tamilnadu, where Madras is located, was one of the areas hardest hit in India.

And I have ministered many times in the State of Andhra Predesh, and over 200 people are reported to have died from the Tsunami in that state. In fact, I had a guest from Andhra Predesh in my home at the exact instant the tsunami hit, and his wife was in India visiting her family 15 miles from the coast. (We did not know about the Tsunami until after he had gone home that night.)

This is what God told me: This was NOT a judgment from God, it was an attack of the enemy. The attack mirrors in the natural what God is about to do in the spirit, and it precedes an upcoming move of God in those areas. God has been hard a work behind the scenes to prepare South Asia for revival. It is almost ripe and God is going to release a wave of great revival there, a revival that will draw people to the truth and sweep away the stronghold of idolatry and ancestor worship.

The devil is one who comes to comes to kill, steal and destroy. And he has brought this tsunami to kill as many people as he can before the revival hits. He is doing this because he does not want them to be saved in the revival. It is not God's heart or desire to destroy the people who live in great darkness in this part of the world -- it is His desire to shine His light into their darkness and to save them.

The Lord showed me a princple that relates to enemy activity in the area. The principle is that the enemy's "thing" is to kill and destroy, and the more of a hold he has on an area, the more of an ability he has to do his thing in that area. For instance, in India, the state of Tamilnadu was the one that was hardest hit by the Tsunami, and where most of the death and destruction occurred.

This same state is one that had given the devil a stronghold by passing a very strong anti-conversion law that could imprison anyone who leads a person to the Lord. And because the devil had a stronghold on this area, he was able to bring more death/destruction to it than to other parts of India. (I am not saying that Tamilnadu is the only demonic stronghold in India. But the devil was able to destroy much there because it was one of his strongholds.) The good news is that Tamilnadu is almost ripe for revival and that area will be filled with God's light and presence."

We must remember that God's heart is for the lost and He wants to bring them to Himself. The devil's heart is to kill, steal and destroy and to oppress and keep people in darkness. God's goal and the devil's goal are diametrically opposed to one another. That is why there is a war going on between the two sides. God has already won the war when Jesus rose from the dead, breaking the power of sin and death. But God values human free-will; He wants people to worship Him of their own free choice. And in order to preserve our ability to choose (free will) God has not yet banished the devil to Hell. The devil knows he is defeated, and like a trapped animal he still lashes out against God's kingdom and engages in warfare.

The Tsunami was a great and heart-breaking tragedy. We need to ask ourselves how God wants us to respond to this. I would like to share three insights to that question.

First, He wants us to love them with the love of Christ. That love does not sit idly by and hope the people will get the help they need -- instead that love helps those who become destitute from this Tsunami -- it gives both financial and practical aid. We are not to limit our help to just those who are willing to convert. We are to follow God's example: God sends His rain on both the just and the unjust, so we should help all who are effected, not just those who agree with our viewpoint.

Second, we need to pray for God's will to be done in this area. God's will is to bring a wave of His revival -- to break the power of darkness, to bring light and life and joy and peace and provision to these people. It is to bring them to the saving knowledge of Jesus so that they put away their idols and worship only Him. So we need to pray and intercede in agreement with God's will for a great revival to come to South Asia.

Third, we must participate with God in accomplishing His will in that area. This means doing missions work in South Asia. It also means supporting and equipping the indigenious believers as they evangelize their nations.

Great darkness has come to this area in the form of this terrible tradegy. Now it is time for the body of Christ to bring great light to dispell that darkness. It is time for us to bring practical and tangible help, as well as to bring God's love and the good news of the gospel to this region. It is also time to demonstrate the reality and power of God's love by healing the sick and doing the works that Jesus did.

Blessings

Teresa
