ASIAN TSUNAMI WAS PRECEDED BY PROPHECY AND FOLLOWED BY REPORTS OF MIRACLES
In the gloom -- and it is gloom -- come the accounts of miracles. A missionary escaping the tsunami with thirty students calls out the Name of Jesus as a wave sweeps into a lagoon and the wave seems to halt. This in Navalady, Sri Lanka.
There is also the young American couple at a beach in southern Thailand. Clinging to a jungle gym under a thatched roof in a play area, the man shouted prayers amid the flooding. The thatched roof lodged against the jungle gym, and they were sheltered as the last, biggest wave swept ten feet over their heads -- without touching them! "We miraculously didn't get hit," said Patrick Green.
And then there is the Marian apparition shrine of Vailankanni in India. It had been established after a peasant boy saw the Blessed Mother there in the 1500s. During the following century, a group of Portuguese sailors got caught in a Bay of Bengal storm and pleaded with her as Mary of the Sea. The sea calmed during what was probably a cyclone and they landed at Vailankanni on September 8 -- feast of her nativity -- replacing a chapel with a stone building.
During the recent tsunami, Mary calmed the seas there once more. In a December 29 statement, basilica officials noted that about 2,000 pilgrims attending Mass were "miraculously saved" when the surging waves of the historic tsunami stopped at the gates of the shrine compound, which is near a devastated beach.
The waves -- rising as high as forty feet -- smashed hotels and homes on the same elevation [see this story]!
Then there is the prophecy. As with September 11 (which is now dwarfed by this episode), there seemed to be forewarnings. Famously, Catholic seer Maria Esperanza declared that 2004 would be a special year, with both rays of heavenly light and the beginning of a run of natural disturbances. She had also seen the earth's core as "out of balance."
Esperanza already seemed on the mark with the extraordinary typhoons, climate patterns, and hurricanes of 2004, but it was the very last week of the year -- its waning moment -- when the prophetic hit seemed more like a bull's eye.
Another well-known seer from Ireland has long prophesied weather disruptions, tidal waves, and quakes, and has mentioned the earth's axis.
So did former nightclub owner Ned Dougherty, who "saw" terrorist attacks in Washington and New York long before 9/11 and allegedly was also shown tidal waves during a famous near-death experience. He has expressed repeated concerns in recent weeks about a tsunami in the Atlantic; one warning came days before the Asian event, on December 24. "A shifting of the earth's axis will create dramatic climactic changes and possibly result in massive earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and huge tidal waves on both the East and West coasts of the United States as well as around the world," he wrote in Fast Lane To Heaven. Now he says, "I am quite certain that a U.S. eastern seaboard tidal wave-tsunami is imminent."
Whatever is coming (and we have to be very careful with such things), prophecy is no longer readily dismissed. A survey by The Christian Science Monitor even before the tsunami indicates that 59 percent of Americans believe events prophesied in Scripture will occur in the near future.
Meanwhile, prominent bishops and rabbis alike are saying we should see warnings in these events.
Viewers wrote in about their own "prompting" in the spirit. Some felt a coming quake. Or they envisioned water.
Wrote one viewer from Miami: "Last week my mother had a vision of a red sea engulfing many lands. Today (12/29) a co-worker was surprised at a strange red sky. Our Church is agonizing. Our Lord is sad. At three I went to visit Him for an hour in the Blessed Sacrament. I prayed to Him asking for guidance. The response that came to my heart is that the illumination will be coming soon."
Again: for your discernment. If nothing else, the tsunami has created a clarion alarm.
"Jesus told me that the world is in great danger," wrote another viewer. "People must turn away from material things and amend their lives."
The same is true among Protestants. One had a vision that foresaw approaching judgments specifically for Indonesia, describing the ground shaking and "every eye looking toward the coast" -- where there was a small ripple followed by one that was larger, then another, and another. That was announced last November!
In recent years in Java, Indonesia, a black smoky cloud, allegedly resembling the head of Jesus has appeared over a local house and reportedly settled over the nearby church. Local Christians hailed the apparition as a miracle and thousands went on pilgrimage to the church, according to reports. A sign of the times?
On a prominent conservative political site, Free Republic, meantime, was this dire blog-note.
"I was told the following account this morning 12/31/04, by a close personal friend who works with the priest mentioned below," it claimed. "I offer this solely for the discernment of fellow Catholics, and I'm hoping for further verification of this story. I have met the priest who related this story. He is known in the USA and Rome. According to this priest, an American woman, a Roman Catholic (who is not publicly known, she is a housewife and lives in the Midwest USA) was extremely upset two weeks prior to the recent Asian earthquake and tsunamis. The priest who related this story was aware of her fears prior to the events this past week and therefore believes her to have some legitimacy. According to this priest, this woman 'knew' that a massive earthquake and tsunamis were going to strike in Southeast Asia two weeks prior to the event. She was so distraught that she pleaded to be taken to Rome to see the Pope to warn him of the impending disaster in Asia. She was taken to Rome, but I'm not sure from what I was told whether she was able to meet with him. This priest is also aware of what she has seen coming for America. He said it was so horrific that he would not discuss it further. He simply said, 'Be ready to go at any moment.' I believe he would not have related these issues if he had not personally known that she had foreknowledge of the recent quake and tsunamis. Again, I offer this solely for the discernment of fellow Catholics. I'm hoping for further verification of this story, or refutation of same."
Is that really true? Is it really that dismal? We must be careful. The devil tries to frighten us. At the same time, it's difficult to deny what is occurring around us. Alleged Protestant prophet Susan Cummings, --whose striking visions of last summer's hurricanes were also posted before they struck -- issued a prophecy last autumn that saw a final warning to mankind. We take it into prayerful reflection.
"Now the time has come and gone," Cummings said, quoting the Lord. "I showed My prophets the new day that they have now entered. I made them cry out and warn the people of their choices, and the reaping of those choices. But did any listen to My prophets? Did any humble themselves or despise their sins? No, they cast aside My prophets and told them to be silent, and discredited them. Those found rooted and ground in Me, in this hour, will be sheltered from the waves and the purging that will scourge this land. For though the waves beat upon My house, it will surely stand, and all founded in Me will stand with Me till the end. The waves have begun."
That was on November 21. We place this up for discernment, remembering that God is still and always with us -- that events may be mitigated or prevented altogether. Let us note that America is a Christian nation and that there is tremendous protection in that. Incredibly, the death toll from four ferocious hurricanes last summer, by most counts, was less than 150. But there now appears to be an urgent need for more prayer.
Let us repeat: these are reports for discernment only. Internet rumor can be just that. There are "urban legends." There are hoaxes. But, often, there is also a kernel of truth, and we are not to despise prophecy. In fact, Scripture tells us to seek it. We are to test the spirits, keeping only what is true and remembering that we are in special times. We are in miraculous times.
In special times we are to grow closer to Him. When we do, fear vanishes.

Big difference between 2000 people worshipping God by being inside a Church and being a part of the Mass, and those buying souvenirs.
The weird thing about the article is that it states the Mass was completed -- though interrupted by loss of power and a slight commotion by the people.
By all rights, the Basilica should have been destroyed by the wall of water.
Something as powerful as to swept 100's of people away in an instant will not stop just because of a wall built by human hands.
You can ridicule me as much as you want, but I will believe there was a mystical presence to save the church and the people inside...
First, I don't see what shooting crap has to do with this, unless you flaunt freeper rules by posting vulgarities.
Second, the seer mentioned was told when the ruthless dictator took over her country to out. This I heard from another mystic [of sorts]. I then watched events on Freerepublic prove the mystic justified in getting her family out of Venezuela. This was just when he started becoming a dictator -- doing away with the legislator, etc.
Both this thread and the other thread had the disclaimer of for your discernment.
Since you don't understand what that means, it means that one should take it with the grain of salt -- not hook, line, and sinker.
You seemm to be taking alot of heat here, salvation. Thanks for posting the article, I had read it earlier in the day. Many people on this site don't seem to notice the fact that your name is not on the byline or mentioned in the article anywhere and the act of posting an article does not necessarily denote the poster's viewpoints or beliefs. When I post an article it is meant to bring discussion on a topic, not jeers or small minded attacks. Keep up the good history of postings and comments despite it all.
I also think that disasters, small and large, are a sign from God. You know the one - Jesus warns us to always be prepared. My "end time" could be tomorrow if I get hit by a truck on my way to work!
She's alert and aware of her surroundings. Activist Judges are trying to starve her to death.
PLEASE PRAY THAT TERRI HAS A MIRACLE AND GETS HER LIFE BACK. SHE IS CAGED AND her family is waiting to see if the Supreme Court will decide for or against her. Terri's disabled and DOZENS OF people want to take care of her, except for her adulterous husband.
Am 3:7 -
Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.
"It is this kind of stuff that causes people to sneer at Christianity."
Those who wishi to sneer at Christianity will always do so as it has nothing to do with the behavior of the Church and everything to do with their rejection of Truth.
Thanks.
Frankly, I'm heartened to see it spread.
Salvation,
Thanks for posting this. Maybe some hearts will turn back to God as a result, as in the days of Ninevah.
Mark
**I think it's funny that FR is on a "spirit" page! **
And I think it is extremely revealing that FR is on a "spiritdaily" page.
The "heat" I can handle since I posted the line:
For your information and discernment.
Guess some people have difficulty with that word, "discernment". LOL!
Bishop sees god's message in tsunami :-
Port Blair | January 02, 2005 9:09:54 PM IST
Port Blair, Jan 2 : Was the killer tsunami a message from god? A reflection on the way man lives?
Yes, says Bishop Alex Dias of the Stella Morris Cathedral Church, the main Catholic church here.
"I believe that the tsunami is a warning. A warning from god to reflect deeply on the way we lead our lives," said Dais, as he stood among the ragtag tarpaulin tents in the 900-strong relief camp the church is running for tsunami survivors.
More than 800 people are now confirmed dead in the Indian archipelago of the Andaman and Nicobar, which has 572 islands, islets and rocks, and more than 5,000 still missing, a week after giant tidal waves hit the islands.
After days of saying that more than 10,000 people are either dead or missing, authorities now are confirming the death of around 800 people and say around 5,000 could be missing.
No explanation has been given to the wide discrepancies or to the fate of the rest of the people initially suspected dead or missing.
Dias, who is running one of the main eight relief camps in Port Blair, the main city in the archipelago, said he saw a special message shining through the disaster - the worst ever in the region.
"We are too hurried today. We are rushing here, rushing there. Everything is a façade. There are lots of cracks and undulating things in our lives.
"A disaster like this is a word from god to think about those cracks and smoothen them out. We are filled our lives with so much that there is little place for god.
"In moments of grave crisis, we remember god and we should also think how to put him back in the primary position in our lives," said Dias.
Too much of this stuff distracts from the business of daily living. Work, pray, take care of families, others, and honor God.
Whatever comes, comes and you have no more ability to stop it than a person standing in front of a freight train can.
I don't think Jesus meant for us to be overly concerned with what will be other than to notice that death comes for all. Yes, I know prophecy and I know the Marian visions, but I also know that reading everyone and everything who predicts something is neither spiritually productive nor is it proper use of the little time we have ruminating over what may be our future fate.
And all this is IMHO. ( ;
Salvation, a most fit and heart toching post!
Yes, I believe, what happened was the Wtath of God, I believe that the Mother Of God, Our Lady of Good Health, sheltered and protected those people who were in Her Shrine, through the power of the rosary, as with the visions well, of those, it is true,or?
The Catholic Faith is shouting loud over the world, with these miraculous happening. The priest in the shrine was named Fr. Xavier,(which was posted a day ago) bears a time to mention ...Xavier (St. Francis Xavier was a Catholic priest, who spent most of his life converting the people in that area to the Catholic Faith in the 1500's) At that ime he baptized over 3 millon people, he destroyed forty thousand pagan idols, and built over 100 Cathoilc Churches.....he was made a saint in 1622.
Your post is welcome, as horribly SAD the situation there after the "wave".....I believe there is a message, obey the Ten Commandments and discover the Faith of Jesus Christ,..( the one Xavier belonged to.) Believe it of Not.
It was not doubt the Wrath of God, no other reason will suffice. Thank you posting it.

You post only that those who were in the Shrine dedicated to the Mother of God....lived and survived......those around it , in front of it nearby, perished.....
Mary sheltered those INSIDE, like she will shelter anyone who will come to her, to love her Son, Jesus.
Message here....figure it out , very standoutish if you ask me!
Salvation, you'll be interested to know that this morning in my little parish, the assistant priest nearly took the entire time of his homily to talk about "Asian Tsunami....".He read almost the entire article, accept the protestant prophecies. He just said "and others." Father is a very Marian priest who speaks a lot on Fatima.
In what way?
Very true -- Padre Pio -- said Pray, Hope, and don't worry!.
But the flip side of the coin is to let people know. Some people spend too much time on this stuff. Some people do not enough -- or don't need -- their spiritual house is in order.
The Prophecy news has been a honey to attract people back to the church.
Example?
A fellow by the name of Jim Caviezil did not go that route but was changed by events after he started changing his life. It was just before getting the part for the The Thin Red Line that Jim Caviezil started a regimen of daily prayer. If I recall, he may have been doing the 27 day petition novena followed by the 27 day thanksgiving novena.
A very nervous Jim Caviezil told the Corpus Christi Convention in Atlanta in 2003 his road to the Passion of Christ.
He was very nervous -- talking in front of 15,000 people was a lot different than acting in front of cameras.
For his talk, he demanded that a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary be moved right next to him -- it was a state of Our Lady of Grace.
He first related that in getting the part for The Thin Red Line, he had decided if he did not get the part, he would leave Hollywood.
He was also told to pray the rosary at this time.
He prayed the rosary, and he was even late for the appointment with the producer because he prayed the rosary.
And of course he got the part to The Thin Red Line, but I do not want to digress too much.
Then he got the part to The Count of Monte Cristo. During this time, his wife made a pilgrimage to Medjugorje. His wife was able to get him to see one of visionaries when she came to Ireland, and the visionary also came there.
After that encounter, Jim Caviezil requested his Irish driver pray the rosary with him each day as they went to work on the set [early in the morning].
The point is not the apparition is approved or not -- Opus Dei or Blue Army or other groups do a good job of converting people -- it is the fruit of what is going on.
And that is the key point -- which is also the point you make -- work, prayer but also sacrifice are important. That was the message of Fatima -- the sacrifice of the children. This has been a word neglected in this thread.
Right now Oklahoma-USC are playing and I really could care less.
The point is that if these groups are converting people, and they are turning from the material world to God, then that is what is very pleasing to Jesus and Mary.
Your point is an excellent point -- but you have to somehow recruit people. People diving into the Marian information gets them interested in praying, confession, and working for the Church.
The bottom line of any discernment was the advice of a very good Monsignor I knew from Louisiana -- who did meet Padre Pio when he was a seminarian -- back in the 1950s.
The good Monsignor had the following to say when I asked about an alleged apparition site:
Jesus told us that you will know a tree by its fruit -- a good tree only produces good fruit, a bad tree will produce only bad fruit.
Admittedly, some folks don't pray and just look for what is the latest thing happening with apparitions.
Other people, after getting over the initial buzz of getting involved in Marian devotion, become very involved.
They are like Marian Centacles or Opus Dei or whatever good group that is involved in prayer. And I do not exclude other Christians -- some of the Evangelicals are folks Catholics can learn from -- their knowledge of Holy Scripture, and how they evangelize -- reach out to others.
Pope John Paul II has tried to get the Christians to be closer into being a single church. Maybe this is impossible, but he will try.
Probably to sum up what you are saying is what Padre Pio told us often: Pray, Hope, and don't Worry.
But some people need to be guided into praying -- one way or another.
