Statesmen may plan and speculate for liberty, but it is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free constitution is pure virtue. - John Adams |
cleaning house on my hobbled legs, sorting papers and sharing history.
I wanted to punch that Richard Son-Vinisous in the noses!
He is a bully but Condi held her own to that beast!
What are you doing that stuff for? Sometimes you post like a teacher or a lawyer.:')
What do you think about this pre-determination vs free will stuff? Have you had x to read any of the posts yet?
And if God were simply our grandfather all that you wrote would be true.
But God is God.
And Jesus has instructed us to relate to Him (God) as ... Father.Matthew 6:9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.... unlikely and unscriptural that God created anything that ... displeases Him.
10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Really? God DID create viruses, however, and earthquakes and Judas and cancer and democrats and lice and the French. So God did create things that are, in and of themselves, not "good."
What God originally created (prior to the Fall) was good.
It is the result of man's disobedience in the garden which brought evil into the world.
Realize that you say God is "pleased" by man's free will, yet that same free will, according to you, is what enables man to sin in the first place. Do you see the illogic here?
Not at all!
I am pleased to eat rich food (at times), yet, at the same time, I may be displeased later on with the effects of eating that same rich food.
At the same time, I can be displeased to have to have a particularly painful medical procedure, ... only to be pleased later on with this same procedure's effect on my health.
In like manner, God can certainly be so pleased by having men freely (at some level) choose Him, ... that He is willing to tolerate whatever negative effects occur as a result of that.
But Adam's Fall did not surprise God, anymore than our sin surprises God. It was and is all part of God's plan for His creation. It can be nothing else, if He is God. Thus, whatever God does is "good," because it accomplishes His holy purpose.
Of course God was not surprised ... God foreknows all.
Furthering His glory is not God's only purpose.
It is the first commandment, more important than all others."The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament showeth his handiwork." -- Psalm 19:1.
The first commandment is to love God.Mark 12:29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:It is the reason for our being.
30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
Hmmm ...Ecclesiastes 12:13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
Is that picket or wire?:)

As I said before all of that can be found in the scripture!
Take a look at the Ten virgins!
The Lord has a an Eternal plan.
On earth many successful businesses have a 5 years plan to accomplish and the loyal co-worker will make every effort to fullfil their duty! The slothful will miss the mark!
Back to the Ten Virgins 5 will be prepared and have enough spiritual oil in their lamps, the 5 others lamps will be empty because they spend too much time in the world and little time filling up their lamps with the spiritual oil needed!
Let go back to "The Lord's Prayer!" the instructions are given in those words.
1 AND it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.
2 And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.
3 Give us day by day our daily bread.
4 And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.
Yep, I agree with John. Christ's death was enough to pay for everyone's sin, but it is only effective for those who believe.
I don't have any argument with I John.
Sounds like a CBC grad to me (hope my brother isn't lurking). Numnuts abound in all denominations. However in AOG youth pastor positions, numnuts run about 75 to 25. I say that as a numnut.
I can't even think what that was INTENDED to convey before it went all wrong.
Here's my best guess at what happened. A bunch of youth and a youth pastor sat around brainstorming this gem of a theatrical production trying to think of ways of making it "cutting-edge" and trendy and hip, capturing the zeitgeist, while still getting a tear in the eye at the end. Probably too much Mountain Dew Code Red was involved and too much planning was done after 10 pm. And in the end, someone who tried to fit into the culture the message of Christ was someone who didn't have a clue as to what the culture around them was. A big round of boos for all involved. I can say that I've worked with at least two or three dozen youth pastors who would've happily have done the same thing. Indeed, it may spawn spin-offs if it's presented at the the next district youth leadership training event.
Are you saying Noah did not choose to obey God? That he was irresistably drawn to construct the ark? I don't think that will hold water, so to speak.
Because He loves every last one of us. And is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to a knowledge of repentance. Now, if He'd only written that stuff down for us. :-)
You realize that you say that we are created to worship, but you don't really mean "we" you mean "the elect." And God derives pleasure from this worship from men and women who have no choice but to do this. Do you see the illogic here?
God DID create viruses, however, and earthquakes and Judas and cancer and democrats and lice and the French.
Judas chose evil. Earthquakes are not inherently evil, let alone inherently bad, the same with lice and viruses. And while the French line is funny it fits with the rest of your post. Illogical.
