Dr. Rice recently appeared as a guest of Marcus Grodi on EWTN's program
The Journey Home You can listen to his story by clicking on the following link. Noah Lett's extraordinary conversion story is also at this link. He was raised in an agnostic home, became a Lutheran minister and converted to catholicism in 1995, following an extraordinary series of ..... well, let him tell you his story.

This is a 2 part story. To gain a greater understanding of how God called Dr. Rice to a 'healing' ministry, click on the link to the previous story. Regardless of how you feel about pentecostal ministry, Dr. Rice's story is truly humbling.
Even more humbling is Noah Lett's conversion story. He appeared last Monday on The Journey Home. Keep in mind that any time a protestant minister 'comes home', he must leave behind his ministry, a congregation, and oftentimes friends and family who do not understand their conversion. These converts have often traveled an emotional road, out of genuine and sincere faith in Jesus Christ. Their faith only serves to strengthen ours.

Thank you for the ping!
Blessed be our Lord.
You've inspired me this morning to seek confession today so that I may receive Him tomorrow.
Thank you.

The more of the Journey Home Shows I listen to, the more I am convince becoming Catholic is the right thing for me to do. Before I became interested in this, I would NEVER have listened to a religious service on the radio, let alone expend the effort to download or listen to them on the internet.
Now I can't seem to listen enough. I am so thankful for this source of inspiration. I'm listening to Noah Lett's story as I type this...mercy!
Peace:)

Wow.
Not an earthshaking moment like Dr. Rice's, but when I went up to be blessed (not to receive) from the priest on Ash Wednesday, as I crossed my arms for a blessing he held the Host up before me, and there was absolutely no doubt in my heart that I was looking at Our Lord in the priest's hands. Very fervent "Amen!" on my part, believe me.

No, I was raised in the Church of Christ and pretty serious about it till the age of 19 or 20. I stopped going after experiencing my 1st dose of hypocrisy did the usual "screw this" and just stopped going.

I've attended Church of Christ services with a good friend of my husband's. Good preaching and excellent biblical exposition, but I was raised in a liturgical and sacramental church (even though it has gone straight to Hell, and I say that "not lightly, but advisedly.")
We're Episcopalians fleeing from the apostasy in the Episcopal Church USA -- not to mention the Wrath to Come. Talk about hypocrisy - it's been institutionalized in that denomination.

"So when Anita and I went up to receive Communion, I leaned over to the priest and said, 'Father, you dropped Jesus on the floor.' He got this blank look on his face, just stunned, and I said, 'May I have the privilege of rescuing Our Lord from the floor?' and he said, 'Yes, of course. And so I went up to the sanctuary area, leaned over, and picked Jesus up off the floor"
How does this square with the verse that says...
"At that time if anyone says to you, 'Look, here is the Christ!' or, 'There he is!' do not believe it. For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect--if that were possible. See, I have told you ahead of time.
"So if anyone tells you, 'There he is, out in the desert,' do not go out; or, 'Here he is, in the inner rooms,' do not believe it."

Stickman, I don't know where you are in your journey, but as a stranger who cares, I ask you to please be sure your giving your life to Jesus Christ and not just choosing a religion.
Have you taken the time to read the New Testament and carefully consider the cost of following Jesus? He is very clear about both the obligations and the blessings of becoming his follower. He is not shy about telling us the need to repent, turn from all known sins and begin a life of faith in him and service for him.
It is a dangerous thing to put your faith in an institution. That is why Jesus left us a record of his teaching - so we can put our faith in his words.
I'm not trying to tell you not to become a Catholic. But you can become a religious person (protestant or catholic)without every really coming to know Jesus.
He warns us of this possibility in Matthew 7 when he says...
"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?' And then will I declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.'
Build your house on the rock
"Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it."

It is a dangerous thing to put your faith in an institution. That is why Jesus left us a record of his teaching - so we can put our faith in his words. Jesus said his Church would be "the light of the world." He then noted that "a city set on a hill cannot be hid" (Matt. 5:14). This means his Church is a visible organization. It must have characteristics that clearly identify it and that distinguish it from other churches. Jesus promised, "I will build my Church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it" (Matt. 16:18). This means that his Church will never be destroyed and will never fall away from him. His Church will survive until his return.
Among the Christian churches, only the Catholic Church has existed since the time of Jesus. Every other Christian church is an offshoot of the Catholic Church.
Only the Catholic Church existed in the tenth century, in the fifth century, and in the first century, faithfully teaching the doctrines given by Christ to the apostles, omitting nothing.
The Catholic Church has existed for nearly 2,000 years, despite constant opposition from the world. This is testimony to the Churchs divine origin. It must be more than a merely human organization, especially considering that its human members even some of its leadershave been unwise, corrupt, or prone to heresy.

Greetings NYer!
Putting aside the details about the Church upon which we disagree... (ex. I doubt you would credit Islams 1500 year existance as proof of its "divine origin" - nor would I.
...Would you argree with my proposition originally put to the Stickman that a person can convert to a Christian/Catholic/Protestant/Orthodox "religion" but not actually come to know Christ?
In other words, that a person can be the follower of a Christian religion, but not a true follower of Christ - and therefore, in the end, wind up in hell.
Would you agree that that can happen?

Alex, why don’t you discuss the issue you have — whatever it is — on this thread. It is an open thread.
I am thinking you are very upset about this, probably becuase you knew this person previously.

Wonderful! I think you’ll be very happy when you’re home again. As you have probably gathered from reading FR, it can be difficult. The evil and stupidity of men is as present in the Catholic Church as it is anywhere else. But you just have to keep your eyes fixed on the Truth, know that the Church is the best place to find it, and all will be well.
