Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) received stellar reviews for his debate performance on Tuesday night against Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D), with pundits describing him as “sharp” and offering a “commanding performance.” “For Vance, it was a commanding performance. For Walz, it was a nervous ramble. For the audience, it was the most civil and substantive debate of the Trump era,” wrote Ross Douthat, a columnist for The New York Times. “I was struck by the fact that JD Vance is a significantly more eloquent Donald Trump,” said Alyssa Farah Griffin, “The View” co-host and a CNN commentator during a panel....

Near the close of the vice-presidential debate, Sen. JD Vance of Ohio was on the verge of capping off a fantastic night for a Republican ticket that has been lost in a news cycle of its own making over false claims about Haitian migrants eating people's pets in Springfield, Ohio. And then January 6, 2021, and the 2020 election came up.

From J.D. Vance’s knowing glance at the camera to Tim Walz’s professed friendships ‘with school shooters,’ the debate was instant meme fodder.

Kamala Harris’s husband, Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, is credibly accused of physically assaulting a woman in 2012. Three friends of the alleged victim whom the Daily Mail only identifies with the pseudonym “Jane,” have come forward alleging Emhoff “struck the woman in the face so hard she spun around.” According to the report, Jane and Emhoff, who would’ve been 47-years-old at the time, were “waiting in a valet line late at night after a May 2012 Cannes Film Festival event in France.” According to one of Jane’s three friends, who have all chosen to remain anonymous fearing retaliation (we’ve all...

A tiny town in North Carolina that’s just been devastated by hurricane Helene could end up severely disrupting the global supply chain for microchips and solar panels. Nestled in the Appalachian mountains, the community of Spruce Pine, population 2,194, is known for its hiking, local artists and as America’s sole source of high-purity quartz. Helene dumped more than 2 feet of rain on the town, destroying roads, shops and cutting power and water. But its reach will likely be felt far beyond the small community.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) signed a law this week that will allow the creation of Amsterdam-style marijuana cafés, after vetoing a similar measure last year due to concerns about smoking in public places. The bill, AB 1775, would authorize a local jurisdiction, if specified conditions are met, to allow for the preparation or sale of noncannabis food or beverage products, as specified, by a licensed retailer or microbusiness in the area where the consumption of cannabis is allowed, and to allow, and to sell tickets for, live musical or other performances on the premises of a licensed retailer or...

Russian military sources have claimed the deployment of a super-powerful bomb on the Ukrainian city of Vovchansk. According to russian media, the bomb is believed to be the ODAB-9000 vacuum bomb, also referred to as the Father of Kuzka or the Father of all bombs. This weapon is reportedly the most powerful non-nuclear munition in the world, with an explosive power equivalent to 44,000 kg of TNT. The ODAB-9000 is a thermobaric weapon, meaning it utilizes oxygen from the surrounding air to generate an intense explosion and blast wave, causing widespread destruction over a large area. If true, this would...

Vice President Kamala Harris’ husband is being accused of slapping his ex-girlfriend for flirting with another man at a ritzy gala in 2012, a new report claims. Second gentleman Doug Emhoff, 59, supposedly struck his then-girlfriend — a successful New York attorney — in the face so hard, she spun around while in a valet line after an event at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2012, three unnamed friends of the woman reportedly told the Daily Mail. The woman — who was identified only as Jane — allegedly called one of the friends sobbing in her cab immediately after...

Jinping’s message comes mere days after the United States provided Taiwan with over $567 million in aid and a promise to remain the nation’s leading ally. “It’s an irreversible trend, a cause of righteousness and the common aspiration of the people. Kitco News) - Gold continues to dominate the global currency market, hitting record highs across the board; however, the precious metal also continues to demonstrate its value in the real world. Last week, the European-based investment firm Incrementum AG published its annual iPhone/gold ratio, which underscores how gold continues to maintain its value. The firm noted that for the third year in a row, the cost of an iPhone priced in gold bullion has dropped. According to the unique ratio, the iPhone 16 Pro with 1 TB of memory costs 0.60 ounces of gold, which is 23% less than last...

A California mayor is defiant after Governor Gavin Newsom signed a law in direct response to the city’s attempt to secure elections. The saga began on March 5, when Huntington Beach voters weighed in and passed ballot measure 1, the Voter ID and Election Rules Amendment. According to Ballotpedia, the charter amendment authorized the city to require voter identification for elections and allowed infrastructure to support the initiative. ... In 2023, then-Mayor Tony Strickland supported the measure in the face of pressure from local and state Democrats seeking to torpedo it. “Our democracy does not work if people do not...

Top political anchors at liberal news outlets panned Democratic vice presidential hopeful Tim Walz’s debate performance Tuesday, with one journalist likening it to President Biden’s disastrous June showdown with former President Donald Trump. “It kind of reminded me of the June 27 debate, when Kamala Harris that night said of Joe Biden, ‘It was a slow start, but a strong finish,’” ABC News anchor Linsey Davis said of the Minnesota governor’s matchup against Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio). “And that’s how I felt Tim Walz kind of did tonight,” she added. *** Davis, who alongside David Muir moderated the Sept. 10...

As of today, the International Longshoreman’s Association (“ILA”) is on strike at 45 ports along America’s eastern and southern shores. It is demanding a huge wage increase and the end of automation. Harold Daggett, the ILA’s president, has gone on record saying, “I will cripple” America. Even assuming the normal posturing in these negotiations, that’s a singularly ugly threat. Although Daggett successfully pushed back against DOJ charges that he’s a member of the mob, that has a “mob-like” feel. The ILA’s demands are simple (emphasis mine):The union is demanding higher wages and a total ban on the automation at ports...

Democratic Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz stunned watchers of Tuesday night’s vice presidential debate as he nervously fidgeted, frowned and even called himself a “knucklehead” — while his Republican counterpart, Sen. JD Vance of Ohio, gave a steady and lawyerly presentation and was widely seen as the victor. *** Walz still seemed nervous an hour later, declaring “I’ve become friends with school shooters” — when he seemed to mean victims — *** *** The Democrat stumbled again, in what will be the most replayed moment of the debate, when he was asked about fresh reporting that he lied about having been...

SWANNANOA, N.C. (AP) — Many residents of the Carolinas still lacked running water, cellphone service and electricity Wednesday as rescuers searched for people unaccounted for after Hurricane Helene caused catastrophic damage across the Southeast and killed at least 166 people. President Joe Biden will survey the devastation in the two states as floodwaters receded and revealed more of the death and destruction left in Helene’s path. More than 1.2 million customers still had no power Wednesday in the Carolinas and Georgia, where Helene tore far inland after initial landfall on Florida’s Gulf Coast. Some residents cooked food on charcoal grills...
