Kerry Says Bush, Cheney Must 'Apologize' Over Iraq
Yahoo! News ^ | October 12, 2003 | Reuters

Posted on 10/12/2003 1:31:38 PM PDT by Bubba_Leroy

DemocRATic presidential candidate Sen. John Kerry (news - web sites) said on Sunday President Bush (news - web sites) and Vice President Dick Cheney (news - web sites) should apologize for misleading the American people about the war in Iraq (news - web sites) and called the international fighting force there a "fraud."

Kerry criticized Bush and Cheney for justifying the war, in part, by saying Iraq was "on the road" to building nuclear weapons, which the senator said has been proven not to be true.

He also slammed the administration for not working adequately with the international community to win backing for the war and not building the broad military coalition in Iraq that was promised.

"I'm asserting very clearly that they misled America," Kerry said on ABC's "This Week" news program. "I think the president and Vice President Cheney should be apologizing to America," he added.

Kerry said the shortage of international troops fighting in Iraq created a "fraudulent coalition" because the forces are mainly from the United States and the United Kingdom, and there was not enough participation from other countries.

"We have a fraudulent coalition, and I use the word fraud," Kerry said. "It's a few people here, a few people there," he added.

Kerry said the Bush administration should be faulted for rushing to war with Iraq "without a plan for the peace," and now asking U.S. taxpayers to pay $87 billion to rebuild Iraq and maintain troops.

"This administration did not have a plan, still does not have an adequate plan for how you minimize the cost to Americans and minimize the threat to our troops," he said.

Kerry said he was "inclined" to vote against the president's $87 billion package that is being considered by Congress, if he can't convince lawmakers to make changes to the funding proposal.

Thanks Texas Eagle for posting this. Clintons 4 day war against Saddam. SEC Defense Bill Cohen stated to the press at the start of this four day war that the objective was to contain SH not remove him.

Someone like Hannity should read this Clinton speech to the masses, often.

The democrats are so jealous of this Adm.and the dims loss of total power they are hurting our Military and our country as a whole.

The Republicans should get a backbone and stop running scared of these power crazed socialist.

Since Kerry thinks that our war on Iraq deserves an apology, he obviously should be the first one to apologize. Afterall, he voted for it.

There are a lot of things that Dubya needs to apologize for, but not for or to Iraq. That's one of the few things that he has done right.

I was approached by Viet Nam Vets against the war on campus in 1973. Their statements were nothing more than wild accusations without a shred of facts. It seems Kerry is still in the same frame of mind as those worthless rabble. Excuse me, but I do have a brain! Get on the same train leaving town that Gray Davis is on, and that goes for the rest of you democrats too.

Kerry is a fraud and a fool. He seems to have conveniently forgotton 9/11/01. I never want that day repeated on American soil. Fifty thousand people worked at the Twin Towers and they wanted to kill them all. One plane was headed toward the White House and went into the Pentagon where more lives were lost. The third plane, thanks to a great bunch of Americans who fought back, landed in a field in Pennsylvania. Kerry is an anti-American Democrat and he makes me want to puke, as do the rest of the idiotic bunch running for the nomination. I will not let this rabid bunch put America in jeopardy again.

Kerry needs to publicly apologize to Bush and to the citizens of this country. So do the rest of the mealy mouthed politicians who are aiding and abetting the terrorists with their imbecile statements. The electorate does not appreciate the Democrats' lies, since they make us all more vulnerable to terrorism both at home and abroad.
