Katie in Attack Mode - Questions Arnold's Leadership, Envisions "Havoc" and Grope Lawsuits
The Today Show

Posted on 10/08/2003 4:31:31 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

The morning after a historic election, it's traditional for the media to lead their coverage with an analysis of what led to the winning candidate's victory, and typically offer some softbal, warm and fuzzy interviews with the winning team.

But as far as The Today Show's Katie Couric is concerned, there's no time for a honeymoon, as she wasted no time in attack Arnold and painting a grim picture for his political future.

Couric's guest was CA Congressman and Arnold transition chairman David Dreier.

Again, the typical morning-after question would have been along the lines of "how does it feel?" or "how did Arnold do it?", or if you're looking to be a bit more substantive "what is Arnold's #1 priority?"

Instead, the first words out of Courics' mouth "polls show that 2/3 of the people feel Arnold didn't adequately explain his plans. What does that say about his leadership or his ability to communicate with the people?"

Next: "Arnold must present a budget by January 10th. How can he do it without cutting programs or raising taxes?"

And of course Katie hates the idea of letting taxpayers keep more of their money: "Wouldn't eliminating the recent tripling of the car tax wreak havoc?"

Next question: "When does he propose to address the groping allegations? Many of the women have retained high-powered lawyers. How concerned about lawsuits, how big a distratcion will that be?

I saw that and I was shocked that even today she could not be gracious! I had to flip to Good Morning America, and they DID NOT behave like that harpy Katie. They even did a little tribute to Maria. Odd isn't it? Maria works for NBC and is a co-worker of Katie's!

Now that you mention it, that seems to be exactly what she must believe. Republicans are faking it up, while Dems are "real".

Excellent point.

"Why is it that these wealthy liberal elitists do not quibble over tax increases that they can afford, when the typical middle-class American family is being squeezed from the right and the left, and pinching pennies?"

You've got to understand how Katie gets paid (and just about every other high-dollar lib you see on TV)in order to understand why taxes don't faze them. It's because THEY DON'T PAY THEM.

Compensation packages for the TV people you see are carefully structured to minimize any taxes. In her case, NBC pays a production company Couric owns for her "services." That company pays all her expenses, which it can deducting from operating income. It can pay for her house, car, anything related to "maintaining her public image," which is what NBC pays her for. It pays for her clothes, grooming, you name it. And it then pays HER a nominal "salary," which she pays taxes on at probably the same rate you do. She also receives deferred compensation, which means that not all of the $7M she earns this year is PAID to her company this year.

Another way high-dollar earners shield themselves from taxation is to set up a Foundation and have the network pay the foundation the money. The foundation pays for house, car, you name it, and donates the required 5% of its assets each year to charity. 5% is a very very low "tax" rate.

I just wrote this. Just Now!

Katie

My TV set is seldom on,
The place called NBC.
I seldom stop to listen to,
The lies they fling at me.
But every now and sometimes then,
I have to cruise on by.
To watch the little evil snit,
And laugh right in her eye.
She wrinkles up her face so tight,
It looks just like a fist.
If something good she must report,
You'll see that she is pissed.
She hates Bush and Arnold too,
America she loathes.
If I was network president,
She couldn’t buy her clothes.
So this I say for all to hear,
I think that she's a slob.
Ms Couric’s insignificant,
I’d love to take her job.

Thanks. If Bush invited her to all the Celeb Parties that he and Laura don't have, Katie would love him too. He has messed up her self-worth.

If there is ANYTHING that should convince the typical Democrat voter that the Democrat party is NOT "for the little people", this SHOULD be it! Think about it: Car registration goes up from about $50 to ONE HUNDRED fifty dollars. Is this going to "hurt" the "rich"? No. It's going to hurt the people who have the JUNKER cars, ie the POOR the most!

I just can't imagine anyone with half a brain just dismissing that as not evidence of Democrat elitism.....it just boggles my mind!

"Mr. President, Governor-Elect Schwarzenegger is being accused by 15 women of having groped them. What is your view of this?"

"Well, Katie, I believe that he needs to come clean with the people of California and name those whom he has groped. I don't want to miss out on anything. I've been accused of groping and even raping a few women myself. I even got rather close to my attorney general, but even I draw the line occasionally. Oh, by the way Katie, do you mind if I move my chair a little closer?"
